II.B.1
Planning, preparation, and delivery of technology-related in-service programs and instruction in collaboration with other professionals at a variety of instructional levels that utilizes technology in problem-solving based upon Pennsylvania Academic Standards.
For this guideline, I first met with Kerin Steigerwalt and the North East Regional Board of PAECT to see if I could be of help with them, and they said they would love a session on Pixel art to be added to the lineup of PAECT events. After that meeting in May, I then met with Kerin one on one (and her husband Brad came in) to show her my ideas about the Pixel art training and give her a brief synopsis and run-through. She gave me a bunch of pointers, and also loved that I can share this information in a slower and more problem-solving way. I also talk about different pedagogies, standards, and ways to use Pixel art across the grade levels, and content areas.
II.B.2
Planning, preparation, and delivery of technology-related in-service programs and instruction in collaboration with other professionals at a variety of instructional levels that utilizes technology in problem-solving based upon strengths and needs of learners at all levels of technological proficiency.
For this guideline, I made sure to write my custodian training to reach all learners. I was warned ahead of time that some of the learners had never been in a computer lab before, and that some of them could not read very well. I did find some struggles also with English being their second language. I went slowly, and actually felt them out and moved people to help others when I saw people were struggling. I also saw a need for some extra stuff to be taught when there were some people that knew everything already. This training really opened my eyes and made me realize that some teachers, paraprofessionals, and other staff members need more time, but there are different levels of learning even outside the classroom walls.
II.B.3
Planning, preparation, and delivery of technology-related in-service programs and instruction in collaboration with other professionals at a variety of instructional levels that utilizes technology in problem-solving based upon established technology implementation plans.
For this guideline, I chatted with Nicole Bond of the Lincoln IU 12, and she connected me to writing a Formative Assessment course for them. I took some of the materials that I already had and moved them into Schoology (I learned how to use that as a teacher!). I made discussion posts, assignments, and gave them materials through YouTube, Google Slides, Flipgrid, Nearpod, VoiceThread, and many other formative assessment tools on a choice board.
The teachers and paraprofessionals that need Act 48 hours, and hours to show that they are improving in their job will be honored to them when they complete my course. I am not quite finished with the videos that I'm putting into the course, but otherwise, it will be up and running by the end of the summer for them to implement in the coming school year, and hopefully for years to come.
