Hello everyone, my name is David Sousa and in this blog I will show you all my experience in this Erasmus project, but first I will give a brief introduction about myself.
I am 17 years old and I was born and raised in Almancil, Portugal. I enjoy making people laugh and feel good around me. Although I am not very social or talkative with everyone, I never stop talking when I am with my close friends.
I am fascinated by mechanics, cars, computer science, and programming. This Erasmus mobility is not only my first internship, but also my first trip abroad, which makes me even more excited for this experience.
Currently, I study at Escola Secundária de Loulé, and I hope to have the opportunity to participate in Erasmus again in my 12th grade.
In my free time, I enjoy playing video games, as they allow me to relax, challenge myself, and sometimes connect with friends.
I also have a project car, which I enjoy working on as it combines my passion for mechanics and cars with the challenge of improving and personalizing something of my own.
Spending time with the people I love, like my family, girlfriend and friends, is something I deeply value, as they are an important part of my life and always make my days more enjoyable.
✈️And now that you know me better, come with me on this unique opportunity that has been given to me✈️
Well, the plan was as follows: the project starts on August 31st and ends on September 28th. Along with seven other colleagues, I will intern together at a company called "LINEŠA". This experience will require us to develop responsibility, independence, and empathy.
We'll be flying with Ryanair and will make two trips to reach our destination, Vilnius!
I woke up around 6:30 am to be at the airport by 7:30 am. Once there, we checked in and waited for our flight to Dublin!
It was my first time flying, and to be honest, I was expecting it to be worse. The only thing that really bothered me was the pressure in my ears.
We were almost there, and everything was going well until...the pilots couldn't land in Dublin and had to divert to Manchester due to weather conditions. Because of this, we had to wait about an hour on the plane to return to Dublin to catch our flight to Vilnius.
Finally, after about 5 hours on the plane, we arrived in Dublin, and then it was a complete meltdown. Thanks to the flight diversion, we were massively delayed catching our flight to Vilnius. We had to rush off the plane, rush to get our bags, rush to check in, and rush to catch our flight. It was incredibly tiring, but in the end, we all made it, and now it was just a matter of resting until we arrived in Vilnius.
When we arrived in Lithuania it was around 2 am and we were exhausted, so we called an Uber and went to the hostel.
Our hostel is "Stay Express Hotel". The double room is quite small, and the bathroom is even smaller. Not bad for the price, but it's quite difficult to move around. Fun fact: I'm about 1.85cm tall, and using the mirror is easier if I use a chair.
We started the day by buying breakfast at a store right next to our hostel. The "Iki Express" store reminded me of the "Algarsuper" store in Portugal, because it's a small store with all the essentials. I liked the store, and the breakfast was delicious.
After breakfast, we went to a supermarket called "Maxima." This supermarket is much bigger than it looks and has everything you need, plus it's very close to our hostel. Today we only bought breakfast for the week, but we'll definitely be back.
We stayed at Maxima until lunchtime and then we went to have lunch at a restaurant called "plusplusplus" literally "+++", I didn't have many expectations but it was really good!
After a delicious lunch, we learned how to use the city buses and headed to our internship, "Linesa," to meet with our teacher, Professor Elge, who will be guiding us during our internship. She's very friendly and always tries to help us, and she'll undoubtedly be a great guide for our Erasmus program.
The Lithuanian National Museum tells of the history and culture of Lithuania, spanning from prehistory to modern times.
The Vilnius Cathedral represents the spiritual heart and national identity of Lithuania, becoming the main Catholic temple in the country.
The bell tower represents the symbol of Vilnius and Lithuania, being a historic structure that is part of the ancient fortifications of the medieval Upper Castle.
We went to dinner at the restaurant "Bernelių Užeiga", the location was good, it had a very attractive and different appearance but... the food was not something we were used to so none of us were very satisfied.
It's only the first day and I've already seen so many cool cars, and as a car lover I've decided that each day I'm going to show you the best car I find!

Day two, this one specifically for exploring and relaxing, started by visiting Hales Market, one of the oldest markets in the city and still continues to this day. I had breakfast there!
One of the places I visited was the Church of St. Michael the Archangel, built around 1600. It represents the transition from Renaissance to Baroque architecture in Lithuania. I thought the architecture of this church was beautiful!
This church was built in the 18th century at a time when the Orthodox community was growing, and today it is a very active center of the Orthodox faith, especially the Russian and Belarusian communities. I found this church to be the most beautiful, its interior captivated me, not to mention its sheer size.
By this point, we'd walked quite a bit and were starting to get tired, but there was still so much more to see. We started to leave the center and see things like:
This bridge is small and simple, but its view is incredible and the padlocks attached to it by couples in love make it more special.
On this street you can see the amount of different art that the artists exhibit on the streets, it seems to give more life to the streets.
I thought I was going to fall into the river at least 5 times, but the view was worth it.
The stairs seemed endless. We reached the end all broken.
The three towers are located after all the painful stairs we climbed, and they were built after Lithuania's independence, replacing previous, destroyed versions. It's one of the city's most famous viewpoints, and the view makes it easy to understand why.
When I first saw this church, it reminded me of Cologne Cathedral in Germany. Without a doubt, it's the most beautiful church I've ever seen in my life.
We didn't get to go in but the aesthetics of the national theater are incredible, our teacher said that the 3 faces represent: Comedy/Tragedy/Drama
Lastly today we went to a bar that was on top of a building, so part of it was an open space with a wonderful view.
Finally, it was lunchtime. After walking until I couldn't take it anymore and exploring tons of places, it was time to relax a bit. We arrived at a shopping mall in the city center and I went to have lunch at KFC. It was the worst decision I ever made. KFC here is really bad. We only have two drink options, very little food variety, and the delivery method was horrible.
After all these adventures and a morning full of discoveries, we returned to our hostel to rest a little until dinner time.
At dinner time, we went to the restaurant we'll be frequenting during our Erasmus month, always trying new foods: "7 Fridays." The first impression was delicious!!!

Today I woke up, had a quick breakfast, and went straight to work. This day was exhausting, and I say "work" because we didn't get to do what we were supposed to do. We got a little lost in the tasks, so I decided to move forward with my blog.
It's lunchtime, and we came to our workplace for lunch. There's a small restaurant, and it's actually quite good!
The only shame is that we don't have drinks, but the food is so good it makes up for it!
After working a few more hours, we decided to do something different: we went to the Ozas Mall! Our first impression was that the mall was huge, and we weren't wrong. It had three floors, and each floor seemed endless. But why "Speedrun"? Because we were running out of time to go to dinner, and we almost made it in time... The mall had some stores like the ones we have in Portugal, but most were different. The prices are very similar.
Just to walk around the whole mall, it must have taken me about 30 minutes.
An arena just for playing games and having a virtual reality experience, how cool must that be!!
With so many stores, the one I was most interested in was the toy ones. So many things my inner child would love to have.
Dinner time, and we were almost late.
We rushed out of the mall, caught a bus, and because of the traffic, we almost arrived late, but we made it!
Dinner was surprisingly good. I've never been a soup eater, but this soup was incredible, and the dish was equally good!

Today we woke up and went to work alone. Today was the day I finally discovered what we had to do after a conversation with Professor Egle. Unfortunately, our task wasn't at all what we expected... It involved taking information from the website's database and copying it into an Excel file for easy reading.
But it's so annoying to just have to press Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.
After a few hours we went to lunch at the company, and today's lunch was basic but very good!
A breaded chicken fillet with salad, which contains cucumber, lettuce, tomato and a little garlic sauce.
We left work after lunch and decided to try the nearest laundromat to see what we'd be doing in the coming weeks. The laundromat is in a part of town we'd never been to, and it was beautiful!
After a 30-minute walk, we finally arrived. We had to figure out how it worked and put all our clothes together on the lowest heat setting. While we waited, I updated my blog.
The wash was a success, but we dried it twice on the lowest setting and still left with our clothes a little damp... Next time, things will be better!
While we waited for our clothes, we decided to stop by Maxima and do some shopping for our groceries. I also noticed that there are a lot of cafes in Lithuania, and because of that, I started drinking more, and today was no exception.
We did the laundry, came home, and rested. Dinner time! We went to 7 Fridays as usual, and today's meal was different. It was good, but here they have some really unusual things, like adding cream to the soup and using herbs in the food, which is a bit strange, but maybe we'll get used to it.

Today was a different day. Professor Egle suggested we do our homework in a different place, the library closest to our hostel. Before we started using Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V, we just had to explore the library and... wow. Quite different from Portuguese libraries. I found it a bit disorganized and very large. There were several rooms to work in, all of them full of books. Some of them even had bookshelves!
After touring the entire library, we sat down and began to work. It's strange to work in such a quiet and still place, but it's actually quite nice.
When it was noon, we left the library and went downtown to have lunch at McDonald's. Interestingly, the McDonald's we went to has an exterior structure integrated with the building, which makes it quite beautiful. Inside, it's quite large, even requiring a staircase.
When we arrived downtown, we came across a festival taking place. Roads were closed, streets were packed with people, tents were selling items, and there were at least two stages for music. Today was the first day, and things were just getting ready, but it was already packed!
As we walked around all the stalls, one really caught our eye. It was a stall selling 3D-printed items like keychains, remote control holders, random toys, and more. My girlfriend and I gave in to temptation and bought a shark keychain for each of us.
Another day, another dinner at "7 Fridays". Today's soup was the same as the other day and the dish was breaded chicken with potatoes, nothing special really, but I think the soup was tastier last time.
After dinner, Professor Egle recommended that we go to the laser event that was going to happen tonight, and since we woke up a little later tomorrow, we decided to go.
The city at night is completely different from the daytime, it's all lit up, beautiful and full of sounds coming from the bars and discussions.
The event venue was packed with people, waiting for it to start. We went under the bridge and sat by the river to watch the whole event. I didn't think it was anything special, but it was pretty.

Today is Saturday, and it's time to visit and explore the city. We started the day by visiting the Museum of Illusions. This museum is located in a rather inconspicuous area, and I expected it to be larger, but it still exceeded my expectations!
Interactive illusions
2D Coffee
Illusion Paintings
Illusion Mirrors
After the Museum of Illusions, we continued our city tour to the Palace of the Grand Dukes, one of Vilnius' most important monuments, both historically and for its national symbolism.
Today, it serves as a national museum, hosting exhibitions, cultural events, and official visits. It represents the heritage of the Grand Duchy and the historical identity of Lithuania.
It's so impressive how things have changed...
How could someone hold on to so much weight for so long?
So many weapons used to do the same thing...
The architecture and decoration of the palace is so luxurious, and the size of each room could make a single house, how impressive is that?
There were so many detailed sculptures, it's amazing how there were such sophisticated artists back then.
In the past, people greatly appreciated art, especially religious art. And the paintings are so carefully done that they are beautiful.
The crowns are not the "real" ones, they are reconstructed, but even so, you can get an idea of how luxurious the crown alone was.
Finally, it was lunchtime. We were already super tired and starving, so the first place we came to was McDonald's. So far, we'd only made it halfway through our visits.
After lunch, we headed straight to our next visit, the Museum of Occupations and Struggles for Freedom!
During the Soviet era, the Museum of Occupations and Struggles for Freedom was used for interrogations, arrests, and executions of political prisoners. Today, it serves as a memorial and museum, telling the story of Lithuania's struggle against Soviet and Nazi occupation and honoring the victims of repression.
I'm not going to lie, being in here and seeing how difficult and painful it was makes me feel a little uncomfortable and creates a heavy atmosphere.

And finally, we made our way to our final visit, Gediminas' Tower. Built in the 14th century by Grand Duke Gediminas, it is the last remaining part of the Upper Castle that once stood in Vilnius. It became a symbol of Lithuania's independence, especially after the raising of the national flag in 1988. Today, it houses a small museum and offers one of the best views of the city.
The climb to the tower was the worst part of the day. We were all exhausted from the day, and we still had to climb a steep climb with uneven ground and stairs at the end. But the view was worth it!
Inside the tower, honestly, there's nothing special. We paid 4 euros for being students and saw everything in 5 minutes... I think the top of the tower with the view of the city is more interesting than the museum itself.
I'll be honest, this day was so tiring that I completely forgot to show you my dinner, but we went to "PlusPlusPlus" and the dinner was very good. Definitely what I needed after such an exhausting day.

Today is Sunday and after so many visits and walking so much, we decided that today would be a day of rest so we woke up later than usual and only left the house when it was time for lunch.
We decided to go to "PlusPlusPlus" again because on Sundays they have a discount where we order a burger with juice and fries and only pay for the burger. It was great, but unfortunately, when we were leaving, I spilled ketchup on my clothes and had to go home to change...
After lunch and getting changed, we decided to do something to make the most of the day and went to a shopping mall other than "OZAS." We went to PLC Panorama! This mall seemed to be bigger and had lots of cafes.
I don't know why, but in every shopping mall I go into, the store that catches my attention the most is the toy store, and this one was no exception!
After browsing the entire mall and doing some essential shopping, we decided to stop at the cafe and get a cold coffee to make up for our tiredness. It was good, but apparently, Lithuanians don't usually drink coffee with sugar.
We got home, packed up, and rested. Dinner time came, and we ate something we'd bought at the mall. It was a frozen pasta with ham and cheese. I actually liked it, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, especially since I felt a little sick afterward...

We started the day like everyone else, taking the bus to work, but this time it was quite late. Luckily, we made it on time, but it was just barely.
One thing I've noticed about living in big cities, especially Vilnius, is that people have no patience, and there's a lot of traffic on the roads.
We arrived at work and tried something different today. Ines and I are doing the same project as a group, and we realized it would be impossible to complete our work in a month. We even asked artificial intelligence, and it was practically impossible. So, being programmers, we tried to create a program that would do it for us. The basics of the program were working, but there was still a lot to do...and the worst part is that it's something completely new to us, so we were trying blindly.
After a lot of work, it's finally lunchtime. Today we decided to have lunch at work again and noticed that the lunches are mostly the same, but they're all very good and inexpensive.
Today's meal was a breaded steak with rice and a very good sauce.
After lunch, Professor Egle gave us the freedom to choose whether we preferred to work at the company or at home, and we all decided that it would be more comfortable and efficient to work at home, but first, we stopped by the "rimi" to do some small essential shopping for our hostel.
We got home, worked, rested, and it was time for dinner. We went again as planned at "7 Fridays," and today the food was different. The soup, I can't quite explain what it was, had potatoes and vegetables, and the main course was strange. It looked like a regular burger, but the meat was shredded beef, and the burger had a sweet flavor. I didn't really like it, but I ate it.

Wake up, have breakfast, catch the bus, and work. That's been our routine these past few days, and because of the traffic, the bus is late every day. But it's all good; incredibly, we've been arriving on time!
Today, we delved a little deeper into our program and presented our idea to Professor Egle. I don't know if she was very interested, but let's try to be programmers and make our work easier!
Today we only had lunch at Linesa. Professor Egle said we could continue our work remotely if we preferred, so that's what we did. For lunch, we went to Dominos, a well-known pizzeria right next to the company. It was very good, and we got a discount: buy one pizza and get two free.
Dinner time, and today was difficult... During those moments, we all missed Portugal. They served us a very beautiful soup, there's no denying it, but it was cold, nothing we were used to. No one liked it, and I felt really bad about not being able to eat it... At least the dish was good.
After dinner, we returned home, and I prepared things for the next day. Once everything was ready, I worked on my blog a little further and did some research for my work in Linesa.

We woke up at our usual time, followed our normal routine, but instead of catching the bus, we sat down and started working, exploring new ways to do our jobs. This is our first time working remotely, and I'm loving it!
It's a different feeling, doing our work in the comfort of our own home, and I really enjoyed it.
We worked until lunchtime and went to PlusPlusPlus for lunch again, always with good food and reasonable prices. Today we tried eating inside and were surprised by how big it actually is—they even have a table football!
During lunch, we all received a message from the Lithuanian government warning that there had been a fire at a gas filling station, and that it was recommended to avoid direct contact with the air. Nothing like this had ever happened to me before, and it left me a little agitated, but everything turned out fine.
We got home, worked, worked, and worked until dinnertime, as always at "7 Fridays." Today's soup was even better; it was piping hot, and the main course was also a surprise.
I'm not a soup person, but this month I've been eating it practically every day.
After dinner we went to "Maxima" and on the way home we came across the red moon! It was beautiful, I tried to take a picture but my phone doesn't have much quality for zoom photos but you can see it.

Today was another day of remote work, and that's great because we have more time and peace of mind to have breakfast. Normally, it's just cookies or coffee with milk, but today I was able to make something more filling!
It was lunchtime, and today we decided to try different places. We opened TikTok, did some research, and went to the place. It was a good fit because it was very close to our hostel and reasonably priced, so we went to Grill London. This restaurant has a London street vibe, and I really liked the decor and the food!
After lunch we took a bus and went to wash our clothes at the laundry, we used two machines to wash light and dark clothes and it was a reasonable price
While we waited for the clothes, we stopped by "Maxima" to do some shopping and spend some time.
Another dinner at "7 Fridays," and this time the food was surprisingly different. The soup was good, but the main course was even better. It's like a crepe but with chicken and sauce inside, and it was delicious. We all loved it!

I woke up, had breakfast, made a little progress on the blog, and got to work until lunch!
When we left home, we found ourselves in this weather; after almost two weeks, finally, some rain! For many, it's a bad thing, but for us Portuguese who love winter, it's great.
Today, since the weather was so bad, and we didn't have an umbrella due to forgetfulness, we decided to try a new restaurant near our house: "HesBurger." It's like a Burger King, but different. It was good, but I didn't like the fact that my burger practically fell apart and I had to put it back together while eating.
After lunch, we decided to get out of the house for a bit and started looking for a aesthetic cafe to work. We went to a few, and they were all full; the only one we went to that was more or less empty was "Caffeine." Affordable prices, a place that seemed comfortable, and even offered internet, I really liked it! It's totally different from working from home.
We spent most of the afternoon working at the cafe until some girls started making a lot of noise and no one could concentrate, so we went home to rest a bit until dinnertime.
At dinner time, we went to "7 Fridays" like every day and had a soup that had a strange, familiar Portuguese flavor; it was very good. There's not much to say about the main course: pork skewered with rice. It was also good.

We woke up, got ready, had breakfast, and left at 9:30 am to catch our train. The day before, we bought round-trip tickets to Trakai, one of Lithuania's most famous cities (they cost around 5 euros each). The plan was to arrive in Trakai, visit the castle, explore the city, and then return home. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't the best, but we made the most of it!
We arrived in Trakai! Our first impressions weren't the best... The train stop was right next to a cemetery, which made for a more somber atmosphere, but to make up for it, we stopped next to a huge lake.
On the way to the castle, we saw the town, and honestly... I found it a bit depressing. When we arrived, there was little to no activity on the streets, and what we saw were tourists. The weather didn't help either, but while in Portugal we have lots of seagulls, here there were lots of crows, which made the atmosphere even more so.
There is a sign in Faro that is just like it
Streets with little or no traffic, very strange
Large churches, but worn out over time
After a long walk through the city of Trakai, we finally arrived at our main destination, Trakai Castle! It's an incredible view, but unfortunately, the castle was being renovated at the time we went, with construction underway, and the weather was unfavorable, but we'll see how it goes.
Crockery

Rooms
After exploring the first part of the castle, it's time for the main tower!
The main tower of Trakai Castle was the most secure part of the castle. It served as a defense and also served as the ruler's residence. Because of its height, it offered a good view of the surroundings and is now part of the castle museum.
After visiting the castle, we were starving and looking for a place to eat, and the only place we could find was not inside a house, which is very strange, and even worse, the restaurant was very expensive, but it was worth it, it was very good!
After lunch, we continued exploring the city and went to the place Professor Paulo had challenged us to visit: the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Trakai!
The church was founded in 1409 and is one of the most important religious sites in Lithuania. Besides its imposing architecture, it is known for housing the image of Our Lady of Trakai, which attracts many worshippers and pilgrims.
The statue in the garden is of Pope John Paul II, one of the most prominent figures in the Catholic Church. His motto was "Totus Tuus," meaning "all yours," demonstrating his strong devotion to the Virgin Mary. He visited Lithuania in 1993, shortly after the country's independence, and is still fondly remembered by the people.
After visiting everything we could and walking a lot, a lot, a lot, it was finally time to catch the train back to Vilnius and as soon as we arrived we went home to rest.
By dinner time, we were so tired and just wanted to sleep. We had zero desire to go out, so for dinner we made some sandwiches and drank juice that we bought!

Finally Sunday, the day off! This week has been tiring, so we decided to wake up a little later than usual. When we woke up, we had breakfast and went for a walk around the city!
Our first goal was to visit and look for several second-hand clothing stores. We'd heard they were cheaper, and sometimes we found some really interesting clothes. I found it interesting because there aren't many stores like this in Portugal, at least that I know of.
While searching for a place to have lunch, we arrived in a part of the city we'd never been to before. Our goal was to go to a restaurant we'd never been to before, but it was a bit far from home, and there weren't many buses that went there.
After walking a lot and getting to know a new part of the city, we arrived at our destination. This restaurant is a combination of three restaurants and only does takeout, but it serves authentic food, like this pasta Bolenhesa I had. It's been a while since I've had pasta like this.
Right in front of the restaurant, we saw the biggest movie theater I've ever seen. It was huge, and the entrance was full of things to buy and arcade machines! I was ripped off by these machines, but that's normal. What impressed me most was Shrek on the poster!!!
Ps: Shrek was a big part of my childhood
After exploring the city, we returned home and rested until dinnertime. When dinner time arrived, we all decided to go to Grill London again. It was a very good restaurant, with very comfortable chairs and quality food!

Another day of remote work. Wake up, have breakfast, work, and that was it until lunchtime!
At lunchtime, we decided to go back to our favorite restaurant, "PlusPlusPlus." While we waited for our food, we continued working on our project.
After lunch, my group mate, colleague and girlfriend Ines and I decided to work on our project somewhere other than home. Working from home can be exhausting, so we went to "Crustum", a cafe very close to our house and had an incredible cappuccino and caramel macchiato!
After working for a few hours and drinking our coffee, we decided it was time to go home and get some rest and get some work done on our blog. At dinnertime, I ate at "7 Fridays" again, and today the food was very good, both the soup and the main course!

As has happened every day, buses are always late, and today was no exception. I'm amazed at the amount of traffic and impatience in big cities, and the most incredible thing of all is that we actually arrived practically on time, but then again, more of the same!
Another day of work at Linesa. Today we gave a short presentation about our work and our development. The presentation went surprisingly well, and the teacher really appreciated the fact that we were looking for a different way to do the work!
I can now see how much the Erasmus project is helping me develop my English and independence skills.
We went to a restaurant here near the linea, which by chance and the same we went to on the weekend in the other part of the city, today we took some more colleagues to try and I ate a different dish.
Today I decided to try a different pasta dish. It's very good, albeit very sickly. The dish is literally macaroni and cheese with chicken. After that, we added more cheese, and then the pasta was literally just cheese, which is very sickening!!!
After lunch, it started raining heavily, and we had to take a bus downtown to see a virtual reality film that Professor Egle recommended! The film is called "Creation of the Worlds," and it was a unique experience. I didn't think it was anything special because I'm already familiar with virtual reality, but I found it to be a very comfortable space, with high-quality headsets and very expensive headphones with excellent quality!
When we left the movie, it was raining inexplicably hard, but we were tired and wanted to go home, so we decided to go home in the rain. Luckily, Ines and I had our waterproof coats because we had already anticipated this weather. The city in the rain continues to be beautiful.
Another dinner at 7 Fridays and today the food was:
This soup is quite different from what I'm used to, the first impression is that the smell was identical to Ruffles Ketchup fries, but the taste had nothing to do with it, it was a soup with bacon and it was very good!
Our dish was the famous Fish and Chips, but this one was a little different, it was breaded fish but the chips were mashed potatoes... We didn't really like the mashed potatoes, it seemed to have a milky flavor, I don't know how to explain it, but it could be worse.

Today we went to work at the company, developed our project, faced many problems and bugs, and talked with the teacher about the weekend. In other words, another normal day at work.
In the middle of our work, we are no longer able to think straight due to our tiredness, so we asked our new member for help!
After a lot of work, we went to lunch again at the restaurant with several restaurants, and today I decided to try another pasta dish: the carbonara. It was good but very filling.
We went home, worked a little more, and when our workday was over, we decided to go to a thrift store again to see if we could find anything interesting. I always feel left out in these stores because the women's section is always huge while the men's section is very limited, and as usual, there wasn't anything interesting for me.
Another weekday, another dinner at 7 Fridays, today was:
The soup was the same as yesterday's, but today it tasted more like bacon, it had a more intense flavor, and it was very different from what we're used to, but I actually liked it.
The main course was breaded pork with lots of cheese on top and tomato inside. Initially it was good, their rice tasted absolutely nothing like it, but the meat was good. Towards the end of the dish, I couldn't stand the cheese anymore; it's quite filling and quite sickly, but in the end, we were satisfied.

We woke up, worked, got ready and went to lunch. This time we felt like something more like Portugal and since there is a McDonald's everywhere in the world, including Portugal, we decided to go there.
After lunch, we decided to do some necessary things, like laundry. We went to the same laundromat again, and while we were doing our laundry, we tried to make some progress on the project.
Our computer battery ran out and there were no power outlets, so we decided to take a walk while we waited for the clothes to dry.
We passed by another store to try to find something interesting, but I can see that it might not be worth it, just to maybe buy classic clothes because they only have more old-fashioned clothes. But it was a big store at least.
After visiting the store, right next door, there was a building that looked a lot like a shopping mall, we went in and saw that there were several stores, a giant IKI and there was a very interesting used games and consoles store.
After washing our clothes, on the way home, we stopped by IKI and, with one of their machines, we made some coffee and added some more components to take home and work with.
At home, we had to further develop our homework and work on our project. Today was a difficult day, but I believe we took another step forward!
Thursday, 7 Fridays day, today's dishes were:
The soup had a homey flavor, a Portuguese flavor, it seemed like a very typical Portuguese soup, it was delicious.
The main course was delicious too, the potatoes were the best part, the pork is always the same, full of fat, but the meat part was good.

I'd just like to add that this car meant a lot to me that day. For those who don't know, the Silvia model is my biggest dream, and seeing this modified S14 with my own eyes was incredible, not to mention that the driver was super friendly, sped up to hear the car and greeted me. This is just a demonstration of how passionate I am and how incredible this community is.
Another day of remote work. We woke up, had breakfast, and started work in our room! We had a few issues to deal with this morning, but we'll see how it goes throughout the day!
We were so focused on our work that we didn't even have time for lunch, so we decided to order our lunch. It was only 1 euro more because it was on sale. We decided to order pasta.
After lunch, we were already tired of being at home, and since we've become coffee addicts, we decided to grab some while we worked. We went to Crustum again, and this time I ordered a Caramel Machiatto. It was incredible, and here at the cafe, I finally solved the problem that had been haunting us for days. Now I just have to try it!
After spending the afternoon at the cafe, it was time for dinner, and since it was Friday, the 7 Fridays, we ate the same beetroot soup we had the first few days, and the main course was the best yet: breaded chicken and fries!

We woke up, had breakfast, and then headed straight to the train station. Once there, we boarded our train to head to our destination for today: Kaunas!
This weekend was prepared solely and exclusively by Professor Egle, and we are very grateful for the experience.
After arriving in this beautiful city, we went straight to our activity, which required a 30-minute walk to reach the island where we would conduct our activities. Along the way, we saw a bit of Kaunas.
After walking a lot, we arrived at Science Island and reached our destination, the Science Museum. This place is huge and has a lot to do. We were a little confused about what to do when we got there. We didn't even know where the entrance was, but we managed to get in and went to our first activity.
Our first activity was in the lab. We began by learning the basics of using a microscope. The woman briefly explained what we were going to do, and we began the activity.
Protection system of a nettle
Salt and Sugar
Chia and Poppy Seeds
Dirty Water
After the first experience, we had to wait for the second activity to begin, so we decided to go see what was available and try something new. I had a croissant with chocolate filling and a biscuit on top.
After waiting for the activity to start, we went to the planetarium. Here we watched a presentation, but in a different way. The seats were super comfortable, and we were slightly reclining, looking at the sky. The room was full of projectors around the room, and our screen was the ceiling, but the ceiling was concave, giving the sensation of looking at the sky. It was different, but I didn't like the fact that everything was in Lithuanian.
Lunchtime, and since everything at the museum was very expensive, we decided to go to McDonald's which was a 10-minute walk from where we were, so we all went together!
After lunch we returned to the museum for more activities and all that was left for us to see now was the best part of the museum in my opinion, it was a huge room full of interactive curiosities, without a doubt the best part of the museum!
How an engine works
(I Love It)
Catching Robot
Accident simulation
Reaction time test
After completing all the activities, we still had time for our train, so we decided to spend it exploring the shopping mall right next to the island, Akropolis. This mall was huge, bigger than any we'd been to before, and had so many interesting stores. I like it a lot!
After shopping, we returned to the station and caught our train back home, arriving in Vilnius around seven in the evening.
We finally arrived, we were so tired that we went to the first restaurant we found, which was Kfc, and ordered takeaway.

Sunday! We woke up a little later, had breakfast, and made progress on our work until lunchtime! When lunchtime came, we decided to try something new. We decided to see what the kebabs here are like, and we happened to have a restaurant right next to our hostel.
After lunch, we decided to start thinking about our return to Portugal, and to remember this trip forever, we went to the city center to buy some souvenirs to take home for ourselves and our families.
After buying everything we wanted, we returned home and continued our work until dinnertime. When dinnertime arrived, we decided to go to "PlusPlusPlus" because on Sundays they have a discount on the burger menu, and it's also very close to our hostel.

Monday, workday at the company! This is the last week of our internship at Linesa, and it's stressing us out a bit because we still have work to do, so these days will be 100% focused on finishing the work.
We arrived in Linesa, set up our computers, and spent the entire morning working on the project. We're seeing progress and are even close to getting it working!
After hours of working and having my brain soggy, it was finally time for lunch, and with so much hunger and appetite that I had, we decided to go to the pasta restaurant again, but today I decided to try something different, a very tasty chicken burger!
After lunch we returned home and continued our hard work, we spent hours and hours resolving bugs and problems until... We finally managed to get the program to work correctly!!! With some ups and downs, but it works!
After we finally got everything working properly, we went to dinner at 7 Fridays again and today it was:
The soup was good, I don't know what soup it was, I know it had pieces of potato and a very tasty flavor!
The main dish was really good, it was like a crepe with cheese and meat, I don't know how to explain it very well but it was delicious.

It was my second-to-last day working for Linesa, and like yesterday before we went to work, we decided to stop by IKI and buy our breakfast. Honestly, I don't know what it'll be like when I return to Portugal and don't have these miraculous coffees.
Today, Professor Egle arranged for us to do some lab activities with a Chemistry teacher. The activity consisted of examining the differences in bubble sizes we can make with different substances. The most effective, in our case, was using 2ml of soap and distilled water.
After the lab activity, the professor said he had one more surprise for us. This surprise was making huge soap bubbles with the wind! It was a lot of fun, and we managed to make some really big bubbles.
After the experience and the teacher's activities, we returned to our work. This time, more relaxed because our program was working, and now we just had to wait. The goal of this program we're working on is to program actions that the computer will perform on its own to complete our task faster and more efficiently!
Lunchtime came, and we decided to try something unusual in Portugal. We went to a shopping mall where there was a Corn Dog restaurant. I thought it was different and good, but nothing special.
While we waited for the food and after lunch, we spent some time running our program to let the computer do its work, but it's not just about letting it run, we also have to be careful to see if there is a bug that prevents the program from working.
After a few hours we decided that was enough for today and we were going home, but first we had to recharge our batteries in a tasty way, so we stopped by "Caffeine" and bought a coffee to drink on the way home.
We got home and continued our project while we finished our coffee. We continued running the program until dinnertime.
Another weekday and as always we go to 7 Fridays, today's dinner was:
The soup was again the traditional soup here in Lithuania, a cold, pinkish soup... none of us really approve of this soup because it's so different from what we Portuguese are used to. Fun fact in the souvenir shop, there's a magnet of this soup.
The main dish was also a meal we had, very good, rice with meat and a very different but tasty sauce.

We woke up, got ready, and had lunch before catching the bus for our last day at Linesa. Today is the day we'll finalize and present our project for the month. I hope Professor Egle likes it!
Last day of work... During the morning we were busy finalizing and preparing the presentation that we will give in the afternoon.
During our lunch break we decided to go have lunch once again at the restaurant, which is actually three restaurants together, and I ate a burger that was very good, probably the last time we go to that restaurant...
During the afternoon, we completed the project and presented it. The presentation went very well. Professor Egle seemed pleased, and I think we made it through this month. The professor also offered us some farewell cakes, which were very good. After a lot of work, the project was finally completed. Everything went well, and now we can rest and enjoy our last days.
Wednesday, another weekday, another day at 7 Fridays, today's meal was:
Today's soup was a normal soup, most likely a soup I've eaten in Portugal, but honestly I can't say what it was made of, it was very good.
The main course was different: pork with cream and mushrooms with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were a little strange, but the meat was incredible.

Today was a rest day, so we slept in late and only left at lunchtime, and we decided to go to McDonald's, as the idea was to stop by some shops and wash our clothes for the trip back to Portugal.
We visited some shops downtown, walked around and took advantage of this day to enjoy the city without any worries.
During one of the stores we visited we found a completely Portuguese soap with the image of an electric train, I found it funny because here I see some Portuguese things and I never thought we had so much popularity in Lithuania.
After walking around and visiting some shops, it was time to go to the laundromat to wash and dry our clothes.
While the clothes were drying, we decided to go to a Caffeine to have a coffee and take a break, it was about a ten-minute walk, and the cafe was very good and it was a very different space from the other Caffeines.
We returned home, rested, and for dinner, we had to go to a different 7 Fridays restaurant due to a private event. This restaurant was downtown and much larger. It was a different space, more crowded and comfortable. The food was very good, both the soup and the main course.

We started the day by going to meet Professor Inês, the teacher who came to take us back to Portugal, but before we go we will visit some more things proposed by Professor Egle and we will take Professor Inês to see a little of Lithuania.
Our first location was an hour and a half away by car and luckily the museum was closed... It was a car museum that I would have loved to see but unfortunately there was a misunderstanding during the booking of the visit and they thought we were supposed to go yesterday... Since it was closed we decided to go to our next location.
Our first stop along the way was a beautiful natural park, next to a huge lake with a tower to see everything around us. It was a beautiful and very relaxing place.
The tower was huge, and the worst part was that we had to climb it all by stairs, and the stairs in Lithuania are very different because they're lower, meaning they're easier to climb but more tiring. But the views are totally worth it.
The lake was huge and we could be closer due to a small bridge for the boats, this bridge was floating so with each step we felt everything, it was really cool.
We finally arrived at our main destination: the only ethnocosmology museum in the world! This museum covers a wide range of topics, from astronomy to biology, among others... A truly beautiful and interesting place, without a doubt.
Our first activity involved viewing substances under a microscope. The two most interesting were these:
The first and most interesting experience was undoubtedly the search for and observation of the most resilient living being in the world, the tardigrade. This living being can survive in extreme conditions that no other living being could withstand. We found it in dirty water.
After seeing the world's most resilient living being, we looked for dirt residue collected from rooftops to look for and see a micrometiorite. This is because in homes where roofs aren't washed, it's possible there are many micrometiorites that came from space.
After the experiences, we had to wait a while before our next museum visit, and when it was time, we had a guided tour inside the museum. It was full of interesting facts and things we didn't know, and we loved it.
In the end, the last room was the top of the tower, which also gives access to a telescope so we can see the planets, but unfortunately we can't go, but the view from the top of the tower is still something beautiful.
After visiting the museum, we returned to Vilnius after almost two hours of travel, but in the end, even if there were misunderstandings, it was totally worth it and we will definitely not forget this experience any time soon.
Last Friday in Lithuania, last dinner at 7 Fridays, and today's dinner was:
The soup was very strange, it was very green and very thick, in my opinion I don't really like thick liquids, whether in soup or juice, etc., but overall it wasn't that bad.
Our last main course at 7 Fridays was the worst of all, literally a block of strange cheese, super sickly and soft, with caramel and another sauce on the side if we wanted to eat it, horrible, but at least there will be no more food like this knowing that it is the last day.

We woke up, got ready and went to buy our last breakfast in Lithuania, after that we met up with Professor Ines and showed her the city of Vilnius.
All morning, we spent the morning walking with the teacher through the city center until lunchtime. We showed her the churches, the shops, the square, and took her to lunch. Since we were all very hungry, we went straight to the McDonald's that was right next door.
After lunch, the teacher dismissed us so we could explore the city and get ready for our return to Portugal tomorrow. We then headed home, a bit reluctantly, but it was actually necessary. We got home, got ready, and went to dinner.
For our last dinner, we decided to go to Grill London, one of the best restaurants we found in Lithuania. It was actually packed that day, but we managed to find a seat, eat, and be very satisfied.

Today we woke up, checked in, and went straight to the bus stop, which was about a 10-minute walk from our hostel, to head to the airport and say goodbye to this great adventure. It was undoubtedly unforgettable.
We took the bus and arrived at the airport. After so long, I had forgotten how small this airport is compared to Portugal, but it does its job.
While we waited to check in, we decided to have our last coffee at Caffeine, it was very good and I will definitely miss it a lot.
After our coffee and check in, it was time to head to the plane to Vienna.
We finally arrived in Vienna, and as soon as we landed, we immediately went looking for a place to eat because we were famished. And to make matters worse, I was feeling quite unwell because of this and the pressure of the plane. After all that, we still had to make time for our next flight.
After three and a half hours, I'm finally, finally home. I can't quite explain the feeling I have, but it's incredible. Everything is finally going back to normal. Thank you, Lithuania, and see you soon...
Well... we've reached the end. First of all, I must give a special thanks to everyone involved in this incredible experience. I want to thank Professor Paulo Ribeiro and Professor Duarte Duarte for being the best guides and companions on this adventure. Without them, none of this would have been possible. I also want to thank all my colleagues. We only knew a few of them, but by the end of the month, we were a complete and united team. And last but not least, a huge thank you to Professor Egle for being our tutor and guide during our internship—she was super friendly and understanding.
And with that, I think that's all. Without a shadow of a doubt, I will never forget everything I experienced in this wonderful country, and who knows, maybe one day we'll meet again. I hope so. Thank you all, and...
Sudie, Lietuva...
