Hello everyone! My name is Inês, I’m 18 years old, and I’m back for another chapter of my Erasmus+ journey. I’m a Programming student at Loulé's High School in Portugal, and this year, my adventure takes me to Veria, Greece!
If you’re wondering why I called this "Part 2," it’s because last year I had the amazing opportunity to participate in this project in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Im a simple woman who enjoys the simple things in life, I like to travel and get to know new cultures, I also like to watch series (currently watching The Vampire Diaries), and I really enjoy playing The Sims 4.
Today started at 5:30 in Faro Airport, our flight was at 7:30, to Nurenberg. The flight was really chill and 3 hour long, nothing special, I watched about 3 episodes of The Vampire Diaries to pass the time.
Since we were going to spend 7 hours in Nuremberg, we took a short walk around the city. The metro station had a Lidl and some restaurants, so we took the opportunity to have lunch and play cards to pass the time until it was time to go back to the airport. Around 16:30 we returned to the airport, where we stayed until 7:30 pm.
Finally, after a long day, we caught our flight to Thessaloniki. Once again, everything went smoothly, and I did exactly the same thing: watched The Vampire Diaries. After that long day of travel, as soon as we arrived, we went straight to Veria, to our apartments.
The first day started at 9 am, I got ready and then at 11 am we went to the city center to meet the teachers, where we met Kostis. He brought a man who was a greek teacher, and they gave us a short tour of the city and explained some of the city history. It's such a beautiful city!
As you can see in the pictures, they have a really pretty river called "Tripotamos", wich means 3 rivers, we also visited a beatiful church, and then went to eat lunch.
After our long walk through the city, we stopped at a restaurant where a very kind gentleman offered us tasty sandwiches and water (all of us were starving and thirsty).
After those amazing sandwiches, the professors gave us the afternoon to do whatever we wanted, we walked a little through the city, tried some coffee, and then we went home to work on our blog and get some rest before dinner.
At the end of the day we went to the restaurant where we will have dinner during the week, "Attitude Mygdalia," we had a full feast and tried several dishes. It's a good restaurant, I think it was a good choice. After dinner, me, David, Antonio, Iara and Duarte, went on a walk to see how the city looks at night.
This morning we visited our internship location, "Lexis," a school focused on teaching foreign languages. Today we just chatted to get to know each other better and to define what we're going to do during this month. Antony, the owner of the school, is a super cool and chill guy who welcomed us warmly, with open arms.
He also took us to a small bakery for breakfast, David and I bought a vanilla and chocolate cake.
For lunch we went to "Goody's", the local fast food, I ate a caesar salad, it was very tasty!
We also went shopping for groceries.
At night we had dinner at the same place, the owner offered us a salad wich was really kind of him, I ate a burgguer but forgot to take a picture. After we all finished we went on a walk and stopped at an arcade where we played some games.
This morning I had a coffee for breakfast, and then went straight to Lexis where we removed 30 SSDs from computers to begin cloning them and installing a new operating system.
Today I cooked pasta with bacon and cream (my specialty) for me and David.
And we treated ourselves with dessert.
In the afternoon, after working on our blog, we returned to Lexis and had fun chatting with the students there until it was time for dinner. We ate at the usual restaurant, I had smoked pork with a side of fries, I normally don't eat pork meat, but this one was very tasty!
After dinner we all went to our colleagues apartment to play Uno. I forgot to take a picture:( .
This morning was just like the others, I woke up, got ready and drank a coffee, and the got to work, where we kept cloning SSDs.
Today, at lunchtime, we were looking for a different place to eat. We searched everywhere but couldn't find anything, so we ended up at "Goody's" again. This time, I had pasta, which was very good, but I liked the Caesar salad from day 2 better.
The we went back home to work on our blog.
After the lunch break, we returned to Lexis to continue cloning the SSDs. We realized that what we were doing wasn't working because it was taking too long, so we talked to Antony and he gave us another computer where instead of cloning the SSDs via cable, we do it directly on the computer.
After the internship we went to dinner at a different restaurant called "βάτραχος", which means "frog" in Greek, because our usual restaurant is closed on Wednesdays. I had a club sandwich which was good but not amazing. But overall it's a good restaurant.
Another morning cloning and testing SSDs. Unfortunately, I think we did something wrong because the SSDs weren't working :(.
As soon as we left Lexis, David and I went to the supermarket, which is about 2 minutes from home, and bought some things to clean the house and what we were going to make for lunch.
I made pasta and chicken for lunch, and after we ate, while David washed the dishes, I cleaned the rest of the kitchen and the bathroom. Right after that I went to work on the blog.
This time, instead of cloning SSDs, Antony needed help from me and David, since we're both studying programming. His student needed help creating a blog, just like I'm doing here, but she didn't know which site to use. So we showed her Google Sites, but there was a problem: she had a Google account with parental controls. So we created a new account for her to use for the blog and taught her how to use Google Sites.
I also noticed that Antony has a motherboard hanging on the wall.
Today we went back to the same restaurant as always for dinner. I had schnitzel with cheese sauce and fries, which I didn't like because of the cheese (I don't like cheese), but today they had salads that were very good. After dinner we spent some time at the other colleagues' apartment chatting.
Today, instead of going straight to work, Antony took us to the cafe across the street for breakfast. David and I shared a "Bougatsa," which is like a pie with a filling, we had the cream filling one, which tastes similar to Portuguese "arroz doce" (rice pudding). They also have some with salty fillings, like cheese, mushrooms, and meat. I really enjoyed it, and I'll definitely go back for "Bougatsa" again!
After breakfast we went to do our work, cloning SSDs.
For lunch today I used the leftover chicken from yesterday to make toast with chicken, egg and cheese.
And then I went to work on my blog until it was time to return to "Lexis".
This time in the afternoon, Antony gave us a ride in his car to one of the other Lexis location, where we went to install the cloned computers and meet other students. Unfortunately, the computer was having problems, but it was solved, at least temporarily.
On the way back home, we stopped at the supermarket to buy water, and we crossed a bridge over the Tripotamos River.
Dinner was at our usual restaurant, this time I had a hamburger which was delicious.
Today started with coffee at Coffee Island, a local coffee shop, and right after we went to the bus station to buy our tickets to Thessaloniki.
As soon as we arrived in Thessaloniki, we took the bus to the city center with the help of some girls who were at the station, and went straight to have lunch at a KFC-style restaurant called "Crats".
I was starving so I ordered a menu that included a hamburger, fries, 1 sauce, and 3 fried chicken fillets, and of course a water, to try and balance the meal (didn't work), but it was really good, maybe because I was so hungry.
After lunch, David, Antonio, Francisco, and I were deciding what to do next, and we came to the conclusion that it would be fun to go to the Illusion Museum, which was near the center.
The Illusion Museum was a lot of fun, it had a lot of activities. One of my favorites was the tunnel. It was a small corridor with a mirror at the end. The surrounding walls seemed to have a fabric or something similar that was spinning , and then there was a walkway. While walking on the walkway, it felt like we were also spinning and that we were going to fall.
Next, we made a quick stop at a coffee shop because Antonio wanted a coffee, and I bought a passion fruit soda to try. It was very good, approved!
After the illusion museum and a quick stop at the coffee shop, we went to visit a warship that's on display, a museum on the water. It was very interesting
Extremely cramped beds
Bedroom mirror
Infirmary
Outside of the Warship
At the end of the museum, there's a souvenir room where we could buy things, and there was a book there that we could sign and leave a message – clearly, we left a message from our country!
After visiting the museums, we went for a walk to kill time before it was time to leave. We took a bus back to the bus station and waited for ours. We were supposed to take the 7 pm bus, but it was already full, so we had to wait another hour for the 8 pm one.
As soon as we arrived we went straight to eat at a restaurant called "All Time" where they make very good sandwiches. And then went straight back home. It was a really tiring day but it was worth it!
This Sunday I took the opportunity to rest and sleep in, so when I woke up it was already lunchtime. Since I didn't know exactly where to go, I ended up going to Goody's with David. Today we even ordered dessert! It was good as always.
After lunch we went home and each of us worked on our blogs. Saturday is the most painful day to work on them because Saturday is a day for going out, so we have a lot of things to add to the blog. I spent the whole afternoon doing it, and even took a nap afterwards.
Again, we only left the house to get something to eat, this time, dinner. Since we didn't know where to go and we had a good experience at the restaurant the day before, we went back there, to "All Time". When we were returning home, David and I met the others; they were going to get their dinner. We waited for them to finish eating and went to play snooker at a place near their house.
This Sunday was used to rest and recharge!
Today David and I started the morning with coffee at "Coffee Island," which is right next to Lexis, and then we went to work. Since we're studying programming, Antony said we could work on the Lexis website and improve it, so we spent the morning exploring and thinking about what we could do to help Antony. We're working with WordPress, something we've never used before, so today we explored how it works. We concluded that the best thing would be to have access to the code itself, but we only realized this at the end of the morning shift, so we'll talk to Antony tomorrow.
At lunchtime we went to get a sandwich from the nice gentleman at "813". I asked him to make me a sandwich without cheese, just meat and sauces. He put in a potato salad and another with mayonnaise with things I couldn't identify inside. It was very good and filled me up quite a bit!
We also went to the supermarket to buy things to make lunch at home.
In the afternoon we returned to Lexis and Antony gave us a ride to another Lexis building. This one was smaller than the others we'd been to, it only had one room. We went there to set up another of the computers we'd cloned and meet the students at this Lexis. Everything went well until it was time to leave. I was starving; this building is about a 20-minute walk from our house. David and I were just being guided by Alexandre and Francisco, and after climbing quite a lot of the street, they decided they wanted to go see a park. I didn't feel like it at all because I was starving, so David and I walked another 20 minutes to get home and eat a nice bowl of cereal.
For dinner, we went back to the same place as always, but this time I ate something different: chicken nuggets. They were okay, I didn't love them.
This morning we stopped by "Coffee Island" to buy our morning coffee, and we also stopped by the corner pastry shop to buy a cream-filled Bougatsa, I completely fell in love with that pastry. Then we went straight to Lexis to eat breakfast and then straight to work. We spoke with Antony about the conclusions we reached the previous day, and he gave us the access. We started exploring ways to work and download the code, with the help of artificial intelligence. For now, we haven't been able to put the code into Visual Studio because to be able to modify and see the updates we make to the code, we need a database, since everything is in PHP. We're still struggling with a solution.
For lunch I made pasta with bacon and cream, again. It's one of my favorites.
I took advantage of my lunch break to update the blog, it's always good to use free time to avoid accumulating work.
This time in the afternoon we went to another Lexis building. We went to install the cloned computers in the classrooms and socialize with the students to practice our English together. This building had several classrooms, but only 3 were being used, it was the largest we've been to so far.
Today we went back to the same restaurant as always, this time I had chicken fillets with fries, it was good. We didn't go for a walk after dinner today.
The 25th is Independence Day, so we had the day off. I took the opportunity to rest and sleep in. When I woke up I was a little bored, so I watched "Despicable Me" until I fell asleep again.
Today was a very lazy day, so I ordered lunch through "efood," an app similar to Uber Eats. I ordered a chicken burger and fries, for some unknown reason, they don't sell set menus here, so everything has to be ordered separately. I was surprised by the price, it was super cheap, as if I had eaten at a restaurant. And I only paid €1 for delivery; in Portugal, I would pay around €3.
After lunch I rested a little more until I got tired of being at home and decided to go for a walk. We all went together.
When we were heading home, we decided to stop for a coffee. I discovered that when you order a coffee, you get a free water.
Once again, we went to the restaurant of the week. Today I had a burger and realized I'm already a bit tired of it.
Today we're back at work, we stopped by the pastry shop to, obviously, buy a Bougatsa, so good!
After breakfast we went to work on the Lexis website, I feel that today David and I have already made some progress, he managed to access the database and open the site locally, but for some reason some buttons take us to the public site and not to the local host, accessing the database and getting the site to open on the local host was quite complicated and took up all morning, but tomorrow we will officially change and update the site!
Once again I cooked for me and David, and of course I made pasta with cream and bacon. After lunch I updated the blog and played The Sims 4 until it was time to go back to my next work shift.
Once again in the afternoon we visited another Lexis building, this time the one where they do the exams. Today we didn't install any computers, we just talked to the students and teachers. At the end of the shift, they offered each of us juice and water, which I thought was very sweet. I haven't tried the cherry juice yet.
This time we had dinner at home because, as I explained the day before, the restaurant where we have reservation is closed on Wednesdays, but yesterday they changed it and instead of closing on Wednesday they closed on Thursday, only this week. We ordered food from eFood, the fee this time was 36 cents, so cheap. I ordered carbonara pasta, and I was expecting regular pasta, but it came with a layer of cheese on top. I was so full I couldn't finish it all.
Just another normal day at Lexis. David and I continued trying to work on the website. We finally managed to access the localhost, but another problem arose. Even when we changed the code and opened it via localhost, nothing changed. We fiddled and fiddled with the code, and nothing changed. I think maybe we're changing the wrong place, but unfortunately, time flies by so fast at Lexis that when we looked at the clock after trying countless solutions, it was already time to leave. We're doing everything we can, and I know we'll succeed.
Today we all decided to go to Goody's. I ordered the same thing as last time, a sandwich with breaded chicken, lettuce, and Parmesan cheese. It was good, but nothing special (unfortunately I forgot to take a picture). Afterwards, David and I came home and worked on the blog until it was time to go back to Lexis.
Once again we visited a new Lexis, the students there were very communicative, and it's always fun and interesting to see the way people from other countries think and how curious they are about ours.
Today we went to dinner at the same place as always, this time we ate something different, thank goodness, I can't stand hamburgers anymore. Today it was chicken with mustard sauce and pita bread. When the waiter came to the table he described this dish as fried chicken, so I thought it would be like breaded chicken. It was a small misunderstanding, but it was quite good.
This Saturday, Kostis and a friend, Dimitri, drove us to Virginia, a small village about 30 minutes from Viria, to visit the Aigai Royal Tombs Museum. It was quite interesting and a different experience. The tombs are located under a small hill, and it was all dark to simulate what it was like when they were found. There were numerous exhibits of everything that was found inside, and a short film about the history, produced by the man who discovered them.
Everything was extremely well detailed and well done.
After the museum we went for a walk near the lake where the three rivers "Tripotamos" flow into. Unfortunately, it started to rain, so we didn't go very far.
As soon as Kostis and Dimitri dropped us back in Veria, we went straight to eat. I was craving a real meal, so we went to an Italian restaurant we pass every day. It was so delicious! I ordered a carbonara, which also came oven-baked, I already realised that's a local specialty, and it was super good. I ate everything!
Me, David, Antonio, and Francisco, besides having lunch together, decided to go for a walk. David and I started by stopping at "Coffee Island" and each ordered a latte for our little walk. We walked around and then Antonio went to "Espresso World", another coffee shop. We stayed a while on the terrace and when we were heading back to the center we passed by an ice cream shop that looked super good, of course we had to try it. I bought a small cup with a scoop of Ferrero Rocher ice cream.
Afterwards, we each went to our apartments to work on the blog, and I played a little bit of The Sims 4 until dinner time.
After walking around the city for a bit looking for a place to eat, we finally decided to try the famous "gyros". I thought I would get nauseous, but it was actually quite good.
We decided to go to a restaurant near the only supermarket open at that hour because we needed to buy snacks for tomorrow's trip. Since we'd forgotten to do that during the day, the supermarket was a bit overpriced, but what could we do?
Today started like any other day, David and I got ready to get coffee at "Coffee Island". We had a transfer waiting for us at 8:30, because we're going to Meteora!
We boarded the transfer and only got off about two hours later to take a break at a service station that had plenty of things, from clothes and accessories to food and souveniers. We returned to the car and after a total of 4 long hours we finally arrived at the top of the mountains where the monasteries are located.
We finally reached the top and the driver said we would be staying at this monastery for 1 hour.
The view from the top of the mountain is unbelievably beautiful. Inside, the monastery had several rooms with religious items and beautifully decorated walls. It was all very pretty, but unfortunately we couldn't take photos inside the rooms. There was always a sign on the door that said "no photos, no videos," so I couldn't take pictures to show on the blog.
But here are some pictures of the outside and the view!
After an hour we got back in the van. It was lunch time, but we thought we were going to continue seeing the monasteries, in fact, the driver was taking us to the city for lunch. Again, the driver said we had an hour to be in the city and have lunch, so we walked around the city while looking for something to eat. We returned to the center and ended up eating at a pizzeria. I had a ham pizza, which was quite good.
After lunch we returned to the van thinking the driver would take us back to the top to see the rest of the monasteries as agreed. After about 20 to 30 minutes we asked the driver where we were going, and he replied that we were returning to Veria. We spoke to Kostis to find out if that was what had been agreed, to which he said that we were supposed to see at least 3 monasteries, not to mention that the driver smoked inside the van and talked on the phone numerous times. We were also supposed to arrive home around 6:30/7 pm, but we arrived an hour earlier. Kostis said he will try to find a solution by speaking with the company we hired, as we paid a considerable amount to stay there for only 2 hours.
When we got home I did the blog and also played a little bit of The Sims 4. When dinner time came, David and I weren't very hungry, so we decided to try other flavors of Bougatsa. We bought two cream-filled ones and one half meat and half pizza. I really liked the meat one and I want to eat it again. We ended up only eating two, so we saved the leftovers for breakfast.
This morning started like any other: I showered, got ready, ate the leftover Bougatsa from yesterday's dinner, and went to Lexis. Finally, David and I are editing the website. While David was working with Elementor and figuring out how to write code, I was looking for a new color palette. I used Adobe Color to get the tones from the Lexis logo and made changes to the website's colors.
We're using shades of turquoise, it's much cleaner and more pleasing to the eye.
After the morning shift we went to the supermarket to buy groceries for lunch and for home, I had no idea that grocery shopping was so expensive.
This time, instead of making pasta, I cooked chicken, and we made wraps with chicken, lettuce, avocado, mayonnaise, and cheese. It was delicious, I'm such a good cook.
Once again in the afternoon we went to a different Lexis to install the cloned computers. Since we went later today, we didn't talk much with the students, but they each prepared a question and we answered them. There was also a group of younger children who stayed longer, but since they were small and didn't know how to speak or understand English, we just went there to say hello and introduce ourselves.
Today we went to the same restaurant as always and I ate the chicken with mustard sauce and pita bread again; at least it's something different and breaks away from the typical burger concept.
Today David and I left home early and went to eat a cream-filled Bougatsa at the pastry shop across from Lexis. We ate and everything went well, but when we went to pay, the man said there was no internet, so we could only pay with cash. Neither of us had any cash. So the man told us to pay later. After this unexpected event, it was time to go to Lexis, so we did our work there, advanced the website, and started publishing the updates we're making. Below is a before and after with some changes like the color palette, for example!
We went to withdraw money from an ATM pay the Bougatsa as soon as we left Lexis.
Once again, for a change, I cooked lunch for myself and David, yes, once again pasta with cream and bacon. The truth is, if I could, I'd live on pasta with cream.
At least it's something healthy and a real meal instead of just eating sandwiches.
Once again in the afternoon we went to visit another Lexis building. This one is small, but not the smallest, it has two rooms. Today, Antonio decided to join us in the afternoon. Unfortunately, he didn't get a clue about what we usually do because the classes today were very shy and quiet. But anyway, we did our job: exchanging computers and interacting a bit with the students.
Today our usual restaurant was closed, so we went to a different place recommended by Antonio and Francisco. We went to an Italian restaurant called "Olive," and I ordered a carbonara. Surprising, right?
It was really good. It was a great recommendation. Thank you, Antonio and Francisco.
Today we had a meeting with Professor Duarte Duarte and Professor Elisabete Dias, where we talked about internships and what we do there, about the problems and difficulties, and about our blogs, everything went well. Afterwards, the colleagues from the other apartment stayed and spent some time with us, and that's how the day ended today!
This morning when we were about to leave the house it was raining, and we didn't have umbrellas, so we messaged Antony to ask if we could work from home until the rain stopped. He was a sweetheart and said yes and that there was no problem at all (advantages of being a programmer). So instead of going to Lexis, David and I worked on the website at home. I think you could say it's officially finished and published. Unfortunately, we couldn't go to Lexis this morning because it didn't stop raining. :(
Today was a lazy day. After finishing the website, I took a shower and then went to cook. We didn't have cream at home, but we also didn't want to spend money, so I made a simple pasta with cheese and called it lunch.
After lunch I was craving something sweet, but we didn't have anything at home so we ordered from eFood. I bought a crepe with Nutella, it tasted divine.
In the afternoon, Antony texted us to let us know that we wouldn't be going to any of the new Lexis buildings today because of the bad weather (it didn't stop raining for a second today). So David and I took the opportunity to watch movies, sleep, and of course I played a little bit of The Sims 4 while he played on his phone.
Once again we went to the restaurant where we have reservations all week. Today I ordered some nuggets with fries, they were okay. Today was quite a boring day because we had to stay home due to the rain; I couldn't even go out for a coffee.
Even though it was raining today, David and I braved the rain and went to Lexis. Since we'd already finished our internship assignment, Antony gave us the school's VR glasses to try out. I also used the free time to update the blog and get things done quickly.
At lunchtime we went back to the Italian restaurant "Roma Pizza," this time I ordered a carbonara pizza, it was great!
The sweet treat of the day was obviously a Bougatsa.
We've been to Lexis before, I think it was the first building we visited. We came to install the rest of the computers in other classrooms and talk to the students.
Today we went to dinner at the same place as always, and I ordered a chicken wrap, finally something different. It was good, but they overdo it a bit with the sauces, they put too much sauce on the food. After dinner, David, Francisco, Antonio, and I went to play snooker at a bar near their apartment. It was fun, and it was good to get out of the house after spending the previous day indoors.
Today David and I left home at our usual time and went for our morning coffee. We're off today because tomorrow morning we're helping Antony with his IT exams. So today was focused on walking around the city and relaxing.
Our first stop was H&M, where I bought the cutest top ever, which I'd had my eye on since the beginning of the Erasmus. Our next stop was a store similar to "Worten" in Portugal, Basically the same thing, an electronics and appliances store. And finally, we went to a makeup store that I'd wanted to visit for a while, but it didn't have anything special.
After this small walk through the city, we went to Goody's for lunch because David was craving it, I had a Bolognese since I didn't feel like having a burger. It was good, but nothing special. Next, we went to the supermarket to do some grocery shopping.
After our morning out, we needed to put away our groceries, but Friday is the day the cleaning lady comes to clean our apartment. When we got home she was still there, so we left our groceries and waited about 20 minutes for her to finish. While we waited, we noticed a small area with some ducks right next to the house, so instead of going for a walk, we went to see the ducklings.
We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and playing games until dinner time. Once again we went to the reserved restaurant and, since I liked the chicken wrap from the previous day, I ended up ordering it again. It was good, it seemed to have less sauce today.
Last Friday, Antony gave us the day off in exchange for us spending the morning helping him with his students' IT exams, so this Saturday we went to work. Antonio, who is a colleague doing an internship at the library, came to accompany us and see how the exams work here in Veria. We stayed there for four hours and when we left it was already lunchtime..
After work, we needed something to eat, and what better to eat than a gyros? So we all went to "Dinner 4 All" for lunch.
After lunch, we came home, I worked on the blog and then took a nap.
After resting a bit, our colleague Antonio invited us to go for a coffee, which we obviously accepted. We had our coffee at Coffee Island and chatted on the terrace for a while, until we decided to go play snooker at the bar near the others' apartment.
When we looked at the clock it was already dinner time and the restaurant chosen for tonight was the Italian restaurant "Olive", where I ate an incredibly good carbonara. We stayed there talking for quite a while and then we went home.
This Sunday, we didn't know what to do, and since almost everything is closed on weekends, especially in small towns, we decided to return to Thessaloniki and explore the area.
When we arrived, it was already lunch time and we were all hungry, so we went to the shopping mall closest to the bus station to have lunch and walk around.
When we arrived it looked like everything was going to be closed, but it was just the supermarket. It was big, with three floors, and the top floor was just for food. We went straight to the third floor for lunch, I ate at Crats Mexican, it was very good, just like Taco Bell. Then we walked around for a little bit.
After walking around the outlet mall, we took a bus to the city center to visit the War Museum of Thessaloniki.
When we left the museum, we were heading towards the White Tower when we looked to the side and saw another very tall white tower. We thought it was just a random tower, but then we found this sign saying there was a cafe up there with free entry. And we decided to go check it out.
I drank a glass of overpriced iced tea.
When we went up in the elevator, they asked if we had a reservation, we said no, and luckily they managed to find us a table anyway. We went up and sat down, while we were chatting, David suddenly noticed a platform moving. We were shocked, trying to figure out if he was crazy or if it really moved, until I realized that the platform where our table was was the one that was moving, hence having more than one view. It was a somewhat expensive experience, but it was worth it. The view was beautiful and the atmosphere very pleasant, truly a unique experience. I loved it!
When we left the cafe at the Skyline Tower, we went in search of our main objective, the White Tower. We walked around there and then remembered we had to go back to Veria, so we took the bus back to the bus station and waited for the 8 pm bus back to Veria.
When we arrived it was already late and we were all tired, so we decided to go eat again at "All Time", since it's quick, cheap and on the way home.
Today was a different kind of workday. Antony took us to visit the company that makes Lexis' English textbooks, "SuperCourse." They gave us a guided tour of the book publisher's facilities. It was quite different and interesting, and at the end they gave us an English book for adults who already speak English to improve their vocabulary. After our time spent on SuperCourse, Antony gave us de rest of the day off.
In front of the publishing house building, there was a supermarket that we had never seen before, so we went to visit and see what it was like.
Once again, I cooked pasta for me and for David.
This afternoon, besides working on the blog, David and I met up with Antonio and went for a bougatsa, and then, to kill time before dinner, we went to another very large supermarket, with 2 floors, to walk around.
Finally, dinner time, once again at the same restaurant as always, I ordered a chicken wrap again. It was good.
Today started with coffee from "Coffee Island." And since we still had plenty of time, about 10 minutes, and the weather was nice, David and I took advantage of the sun. We sat on a bench in the main square in front of Lexis and enjoyed some sun while we drank our coffee. Afterwards, we went to Lexis to work. Today we swapped the computers in the room where Antony teaches IT.
Today I didn't feel like cooking, so after our morning shift, David and I went to have lunch again at "Roma Pizza," and today I had carbonara. It was very good.
This afternoon we arranged with Antony to meet at another Lexis building to exchange the computers from the exam room, where we were the other day. But unfortunately, the man who was supposed to take the computers to that building couldn't leave them there, so when we arrived Antony said that we would finally have the afternoon free since the man couldn't leave them at Lexis and he couldn't because he was on his motorcycle.
After about 20 minutes, Antony texted us and invited us to have coffee with him at our usual Lexis building. Of course, we went to keep him company.
We had our coffee with Antony and chatted for a bit, then David, Antonio, Francisco, and I decided to go for a walk until dinnertime. We didn't know where to go, so we went to Lidl since none of us had been there before. It was a short walk.
At dinner time, once again at the same restaurant as always, I ordered a chicken wrap again. Today it had less sauce on the outside.
Today Antony was going to teach English to elderly people and wanted us to help them improve their vocabulary. I really enjoyed talking to them, they were very kind and friendly. Right after the lesson ended, Antony took us to have breakfast at the pastry shop across the road, I had a bougatsa with cream filling. Antony gave us the rest of the afternoon free to relax and enjoy ourselves.
Yes, once again I made pasta with bacon and cream for myself and David. After eating I updated the blog.
This afternoon we met up with Antonio again for coffee, but I forgot to take a picture. After our visit to Coffee Island, we went for a walk until it was time for dinner. Today we went to Olive, an Italian restaurant we've been to before.
Today we had another meeting with Professor Duarte Duarte and Professor Elisabete Dias, where we talked about internships, problems and difficulties, and about our blogs.
Today was our last day of internship. We went there at the same time as always and helped Antony with his tasks one last time. Afterwards, we said goodbye and thanked him for welcoming us with open arms.
Today we went back to "Pizza Roma" with Francisco and Antonio, I ate a pizza with bacon.
Then we stopped by the pastry shop in front of lexis to eat a bougatsa
After lunch, the four of us went for a walk around the city to see if we could find something to do. We passed by the building in the photo, I'm not sure what it is, but I think it's a church. We didn't find anything to do, but after a lot of searching, we discovered that there's a bowling alley near the city.
Since it would take about 1 hour and 30 minutes to walk there, we went by taxi.
The building was very large.
We played bowling and snooker. It was a really nice way to spend our afternoon
After spending time playing bowling and snooker, we went for a walk around the area since we'd never been there before. It was a very beautiful and peaceful place. We found a river in the middle of nowhere, very pretty.
Once again we had dinner at the same restaurant as always, I ordered a chicken wrap again.
Today is our last day in Veria, but Professor Inês Pinheiro's first, so we arranged to go for a walk around the city. We started at her hotel and then headed towards the center, where we visited Vima Apostolou Pavlou. Right after that we went to visit the Tripotamos River, and then it was lunchtime.
Today we went back to "Roma Pizza", we were supposed to go to "Olive," but it was full.
After lunch, David and I went home. I took a shower and worked on the blog until we received a message from Antonio asking if we wanted coffee. We went, but since I didn't feel like drinking coffee, when they finished theirs we went to eat crepes. I ate a crepe with Ferrero Rocher topping, I had never seen that flavor before.
Once again we had dinner at the same restaurant as always, I ordered a chicken wrap again.
Today there was a procession on the main street, people were carrying candles and following the priest.
During our last hour in Greece, David and I decided to have our last coffee at Coffee Island. While we waited for Antonio and Francisco, David went to get the last bougatsa that I'm going to eat in Veria.
Then we walked to the bus station and caught the bus to Thessaloniki.
As soon as we arrived in Thessaloniki, we took the bus to the city center, where we left our things at the "Zeus is Loose" Hostel.
The hostel is actually very large and comfortable, it has seven floors, one of which is a bar, another a common room, and the rest are the bedrooms.
After leaving our bags at the hostel, David, Antonio, Francisco, and I went to buy souvenirs in Aristotle Square. Then we decided to go to Cosmos Mall, I think it's the biggest mall here in Thessaloniki. It was very large and crowded. As soon as we arrived we went to have lunch, we all ate pasta.
After eating, we walked around the mall and returned to the city center.
During the afternoon we weren't quite sure what to do, so we decided to go for a walk near the sea. The first time we came to Thessaloniki we had already noticed that they had pirate-themed boat tours, and since we had nothing else to do, we decided to try it. Excellent experience. There was a bar inside and the view was beautifu, we couldn't have chosen a better time, we went at sunset.
For dinner we went back to "Crats", like the first time we came to Thessalonica
In front of our hostel there's a church, and today there was another "procession," something more like a mass perhaps, related to Easter. Their religion here in Greece is Orthodox, so we decided to participate in their religion and lit a candle.
Today is finally the day we say goodbye to Greece and return to Portugal. We left home around 6:25 and took the bus to the airport.
Our first flight was to Krakow where we waited for 8 hours for our next flight.
It was a good flight (I slept the whole time) although the landing was a bit rough.
For lunch, David, Antonio, Francisco, and I ordered Subway through Uber Eats. I'd never had Subway before, I think it was good.
To try and pass the time faster, we tried playing games, walking around the shops, and watching series (nothing worked, time just wouldn't pass).
With so much free time, I was able to advance the blog so I would have to do as little as possible in Portugal.
Finally back in Portugal, after a month of this incredible experience. I missed so much my country, my parents, and my friends.
I want to express my gratitude to Professor Duarte Duarte and Professor Elisabete for organizing this Erasmus exchange together with Kostis. Thank you so much for providing us with this incredible experience once again. I also want to thank my boss at Lexis, Antony, for welcoming us with open arms and always being available to help us with whatever we needed. And of course, thank you Professor Inês for once again picking us up from another country.
