Hello everyone, my name is David Sousa and in this blog, I will show you my internship experience in Greece, more specifically in Veria. But first, I will introduce myself so you can get to know me better.
I was born and raised in Portugal, more specifically in Almancil, a small city in the Algarve. I enjoy making people laugh and feel good around me. Although I'm not very sociable or talkative with everyone, I never stop talking when I'm with my closest friends.
This is the second time I've traveled in my life and, coincidentally, it's also the second time I've participated in the Erasmus program.
Currently, I study at Loulé Secondary School and I'm in my final year of high school. I hope this experience will be as good as my last one and that it will create memories that will stay with me forever.
Many of my weekends, instead of going to parties, I usually go to car meets with my friends, because both of us love cars.
This is my car, I've had it for 2 years and since then, I've been working on a project I've always wanted. This is my Bmw e46.
I spend a lot of my free time playing video games, not only to pass the time but also to disconnect from the world and relax.
✈️Now that you know me a little, join me on this experience that will stay with me forever.✈️
Well, the plan was this: the project starts on March 14th and ends on April 12th. Along with seven other colleagues, we will do an internship in Greece, where four of us will go to a library and the other four will go to the Lexis language school; I will go to the language school. This experience will require us to develop responsibility, independence, and empathy.
We will travel with Ryanair and will make two trips to reach our destination, Veria!

I woke up around 4:30 AM to be at the airport by 5:30 AM. Once there, we checked in and waited for our flight to Nuremberg!
The trip was long and painful, but I've never been much of a traveler. Aside from that, it was a good flight.
We finally arrived in Nuremberg. We had to wait 7 hours. With that time, we decided to store our bags in a locker and take the metro to the city center.
First impression: very cold! It's a very beautiful city, very different, and the buildings are enormous. What stood out here was undoubtedly the Cathedral, totally different from what we are used to seeing.
Finally, lunchtime arrived. We were starving, so we went to a place we knew would satisfy us: KFC.
After that, we spent some time playing games and then went to the airport to fly to Greece.
As soon as we arrived, we went straight to Veria by car. We were all very sleepy; most of us slept the whole trip, which took us about an hour.
After a long time and a day of suffering, we arrived. From the outside, the building looked unfinished and poorly maintained, but appearances are deceiving. The apartment is very modern and remodeled; I liked it a lot and it has everything we need.

We woke up around 9:30 am to get ready to meet at 11:00 am in the city square. After meeting, we were accompanied by Professor Kostis. He then introduced us to Thomas Dimitrakis, a gentleman who has lived a long time and, surprisingly, speaks Portuguese due to the years he lived in Brazil. He showed us around the city along with Professor Kostis.
In the middle of our visit, we went to a church that's about a thousand years old, if I'm not mistaken, and has been through a lot. The tree next to it has a somewhat dark history; I won't say it here, but if you're interested, just look it up.
We ended our visit near this restaurant, where a gentleman was making delicious sandwiches. He was very kind to us and offered us all a sandwich and water. Without a doubt, a hero. We were starving.
After lunch, the teachers gave us free rein to explore and do whatever we wanted. So we all went for a walk and had a coffee (the cafes in Greece are quite different).
This is just one example of the countless cars in Greece that are full of modifications. I love seeing these cars, and in Portugal it was almost impossible to see them due to the exaggerated and unnecessary traffic laws.
After a long afternoon, we went to dinner at the place where we will be having dinner for the entire month. Today, being the first day, we tried everything the restaurant had to offer. The food here is quite different, but it's not bad.
After dinner, we went for a walk at night to get to know not only the city but also each other.

First day of internship! Our internship took place at the "Lexis" language school. My colleagues who went with me were Inês, Alex, and Francisco. The owner of the school, Antony, is a super cool guy and has a friend named Pablo, who is very funny and is a police officer.
We talked about ourselves to get to know each other better and about what we would be doing throughout the month.
After our internship, we decided to have lunch together. We explored some restaurants and ended up going to "Goodys." The food there is cheap and quite good.
After lunch, we passed by a large supermarket and decided to explore. We found something I'd never seen before: a Coca-Cola with no sugar, no caffeine, and no calories. How does that work?
One thing that happens a lot in Greece, at least in Veria, is that there are many stray dogs, and often these dogs follow us everywhere.
Our internship is quite different and flexible, from what I've understood so far we will always have around 1 to 2 hours of work in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. And it was time for us to go for 1 hour in the afternoon.
At this time there were students having classes and we had to introduce ourselves and talk to the students, answering questions and communicating.
After a long day, it was finally dinnertime, and today we decided what we wanted to eat. Today I decided to have nuggets. They were very good.
After dinner, we all decided to try out an arcade further down in town; it wasn't very big, but it was quite interesting. Of all the machines there, we decided to just play the punching game.
17/03/2026
We started the day by having breakfast and going to our internship. Our first task was to remove about 30 SSDs from Lexis' computers so we could clone them and install their operating system.
After the internship, we decided to have lunch at home with some things we had decided to buy. While Ines cooked, washed the dishes, and set the table.
We decided to spend the afternoon resting a bit and making progress on the blog.
It was our turn to return to the internship, and we did the same as yesterday: introduce ourselves and answer questions. But today we managed to overcome all the nostalgia and began the cloning process.
Tonight at dinner, we had the opportunity to choose what we liked to eat (something we weren't allowed to do during the last Erasmus exchange) and I chose chicken with potatoes. It was very good.
After dinner, we all went to play Uno at our classmates' houses; it was fun and a way for us to get to know each other better.
18/03/2026
We started the day by having breakfast and then heading to Lexis to continue cloning all the SSDs. This process is a bit time-consuming due to the computers and the amount of information that has to be transferred from one SSD to another. But we'll manage it eventually.
After work we decided to look for somewhere different to have lunch, but we ended up getting lost in the middle of the city without finding anywhere, partly because everything is in Greek and the different things are very expensive.
After walking a lot and getting lost and finding our way again, we decided to stop beating around the bush and went to have lunch at Goodys again, but this time I decided to order a salad. I was impressed with the quality.
After lunch, we went home to rest a bit and continue working on our blog.
We returned to Lexis to continue our tasks and, thanks to Antony, we were able to clone the SSDs at three times the speed, as he provided us with another computer where the SSD is being cloned directly.
To end the day, today being Wednesday (some things close in the afternoon on Wednesdays, like the restaurant where we have a contract), we went to a different restaurant where we were supposed to go every Wednesday, but due to a misunderstanding, the contract wasn't honored. Aside from that, the place is very interesting. It's called "βάτραχος," which means frog, especially since the entire interior decoration includes frogs.
19/03/2026
After breakfast, we went to Lexis and chatted and got to know each other better. After the conversation, we decided to clone some more SSDs and test them. Unfortunately, they aren't working. We're not sure if we're doing something wrong or if the SSDs aren't functioning correctly.
After work we went to the market to buy food and some cleaning products. We got home, cooked, and tidied up. Lunch was great, much better than buying it out.
Finally, after cleaning the house, we continued working on our blog.
Just before heading back to work, we decided to try another cafe in Greece. Very good.
Upon returning to Lexis, we faced a new challenge: some students needed help developing a website for a school project, and we were able to do it. We had to overcome some obstacles, but we succeeded.
Today is Thursday, so we're back to our usual spot. This time I decided to try something different. From what I understand, it's chicken and the sauce must be cheese-based. It's quite different from what I'm used to.
20/03/2026
We started our day by having coffee and then going to Lexis. Upon arriving at Lexis, Antony invited us all to have breakfast together. We tried this very tasty pastry called "Bougatsa" (similar to our "Pastel de Nata"). Antony kindly paid for our breakfast as a reward for our work.
After work, we decided to go home for lunch because we had leftover meat from yesterday's lunch and we couldn't waste it, so we made some sandwiches that were really, really good.
We returned to work a little earlier than usual because we were going to test and assemble the first computers in the Lexis schools, so Antony gave us a ride to one of the other schools in his personal car, a BMW F30. We saw a part of the city we didn't know and visited another Lexis. Unfortunately, the computer didn't work perfectly, but it was already a great help.
Dinner was at our usual spot, and today I decided to order the nuggets again. These are very good, and you can tell they're handmade and made to order.

Saturday, a day for a visit. Today we went to Thessaloniki. We started the day having coffee at "Coffee Island" and then went to the bus station to buy our ticket. The round-trip ticket was very cheap and affordable. The trip took about an hour and a half.
After a long journey, we finally arrived. The entrance to the city honestly looks very poor, but I won't judge just yet. First, we bought a bus ticket to get to the city center. I also found it interesting that there's a very old, restored bus at the bus station.
Arriving in the city center, we came face to face with Aristotle Square. An incredibly beautiful, unique, and enormous square. Full of shops and street artists, but unfortunately, as is common in large cities, there were many people selling things and begging for money on the street. Here, we all felt a bit of our space being invaded, but apart from that, it's a beautiful place, not to mention that this square is on the coast.
When we arrived in the city center, we were all hungry, so we went to a place that was quite crowded but looked very good.
Museum of Illusion
We arrived at our first activity in the city; Ines, Antonio, Francisco, and I came to visit a museum, the Museum of Illusion. I had already been to a similar museum during my last Erasmus exchange, but this one had so much more. It was fun.
Insta post
Mirror Room
Illusion Paintings
Illusionist Tunnel
Cafe in Thessaloniki
Since I was on my way to the next activity, we passed by a very welcoming and accessible café. The vendor was very friendly and the coffee was amazing, but I decided to buy a can of lemonade and a bottle of water. The lemonade tasted a lot like Sprite.
Greek Warship
After the Museum of Illusions, we went to a Greek warship that is open to the public. It only cost us one euro. It was quite interesting and a great way to pass the time and learn a little about the past of Greece and the Greek army.
After the ship, it was late afternoon and the weather was beautiful. The sunset, the river, and the square – a combination that can only be truly appreciated in person.
Returning home
After all this, it was time to go home, so we went to the nearest bus stop and returned to the bus station. But unfortunately, we had to take a later bus because the one we were supposed to go on was full.
Finally in Veria, we were all starving so we went to one of the best places to eat cheaply and quickly, "All Time". They make incredible sandwiches here.
For those who don't know, during my last Erasmus exchange I went to Vilnius, Lithuania, and there were so many incredible cars there that I did a "Car of the Day" every day. There are some here too, but not as many. That's why I decided to do a weekly "Car of the Week".

Sunday, finally a day of rest. These last few days have been difficult because it was a week of adaptation and many new things, so today we took advantage of the day to rest a little and sleep in. Around 12 p.m. we left home to have lunch, and since we didn't know where to go, we went to "Goodys" again. It was very good!
Working on the blog
After lunch I went home to continue working on the blog. It's always good to catch up on everything, especially after Saturday, as it tends to be the busiest day. In short, I spent the whole afternoon working on the blog.
After spending the whole afternoon in front of the computer working on the blog, it was dinnertime, and since we had nothing at home, we went out in search of a place to eat. The choices were difficult; either everything was very expensive or everything was full, so we went to the only place we found that was cheap and not very crowded, "All Time".
Playing with the Group
Returning home, Ines and I ran into the rest of the group from the other apartment: Alex, Antonio, David, and Francisco. They were picking up their dinner, and since we hadn't done anything all day, they invited us to play at a bar that had many snooker tables, and we accepted. I'm not very good at playing, but I'd definitely like to learn more. It was a lot of fun.
23/03/2026
Today we woke up a little earlier than usual because we wanted to have a different breakfast, so we left home 20 minutes earlier so we could stop by "Coffee Island" to get our morning coffee before work.
Working as Programmers
Today our work was different. Ines and I put the SSDs aside and started focusing on the Lexis website. Antony told us he wanted to improve his website, but unfortunately didn't have time to do it, so he assigned us this task. With that, we used the morning to study the site and the tool used to build it, "WordPress". I had heard a lot about it but had never used it, so it will undoubtedly be a challenge.
After work, we went to lunch at the same place as the first day. At "813" where the owner is five stars and makes incredible sandwiches, I don't even know what was in the sandwich, I trusted him to do his art and I didn't regret it.
Blogging
We had lunch and went back home to continue our schoolwork, which means we continued developing our blog.
We went back to work and this time we went to another Lexis, on the other side of town. Antony gave us a ride there. Our goal was to exchange the computer that was installed there and resolve some problems. Everything went well and we succeeded.
After finishing our work at Lexis, we had to walk back home, a journey of about 25 minutes. However, we ended up walking along unfamiliar paths looking for a faster route, but it took us longer. At least the view was beautiful.
Dinner Time
Dinner time, after a long walk and some rest it was finally time for dinner. Today I ordered a pork steak but something different arrived, I didn't want to be rude or cause more trouble so I accepted the dish I was given. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best thing I'd ever eaten either, they really overuse cheddar cheese here.

Greek breakfast
We woke up, got ready, and left a little earlier than usual to have a very typical Greek breakfast. We went to "Coffee Island" to buy our coffee and then went to a café/pastry shop right across from our work where we bought a Bougatsa with cream. A complete and very good breakfast.
After having our breakfast, we immediately started looking for a solution to improve the Lexis website. Today we began downloading all the website code so we could make our modifications safely without affecting the site. It took quite a while to download the code. While the code was being downloaded, we searched for a way to connect to the database.
Leaving work for lunch, we went home and made lunch. It was very good; it's much more worthwhile to cook at home than to eat out. After lunch, we worked on the blog until it was time to log back in.
Back to Work
It was time to get back to work, and today we went to another Lexis. Once again, we came to assemble another computer and present it to the students at this school. Today, talking with Antony, we discovered that Lexis had its peak, with over a thousand students if I'm not mistaken, which is incredible. But anyway, we managed to assemble the computer, and everything went well.
Dinner Time
We left work and went to dinner at our usual place. But today the food tasted very strange. I ordered chicken fillets and while they were cooking there was a fishy smell, I'm not sure exactly why, but when the food arrived it tasted a bit like fish, and it wasn't just mine, some of my colleagues felt the same. But anyway, it could have been worse.

An Unexpected Morning
Today is March 25th, a national holiday in Greece, roughly equivalent to our April 25th. And since we didn't go to work today, we stayed up late yesterday, and when I woke up I was feeling a bit nauseous and had a cold, so I slept all morning and only woke up when it was lunchtime. For lunch, Ines and I ordered food while we watched a movie.
Independence Day
Unfortunately, I couldn't attend due to feeling unwell, but some of my colleagues did and shared their photos. So here's what happened today during lunch.
Later in the afternoon, I was feeling better and was tired of being at home, so I texted my colleagues to ask if they wanted to go for a walk and they accepted, so we all went out for some fresh air.
After walking and talking for a while, we decided to stop for coffee before dinner. I'm starting to get addicted.
Dinner Time
It was dinnertime, and since it's a holiday, we went to our usual place. Supposedly, on Wednesdays we have to eat somewhere else, but today was an exception because most places were closed, so tomorrow we'll have to figure something out because they're closed. However, today I ordered nuggets, and they were good. I was starving, especially since I hadn't managed to eat much throughout the day.
Snooker, meeting and cards
After dinner we went to that bar with snooker tables to pass the time, because at 10 PM we had a meeting with our professors to find out how things are going and to ask questions. After the meeting we stayed for a while longer playing cards and socializing together.
26/03/2026
Another day at work and another coffee in the morning. I loved the coffee they make at "Coffee Island," I go there practically every day. After buying my coffee, I went to Lexis to continue trying to access the website locally.
Last time we still had plenty of pasta and some bacon left over, so we had to make the most of it. It was great.
Right after lunch we got down to work and continued our blog.
This afternoon we returned to work at another Lexis. This one was a little further away, more or less on the other side of town. This Lexis is where the ICT exams take place and where younger students also have classes. We stayed there for quite a while chatting with the students and they were so kind that they offered us a juice and a water each.
Dinner Time
We got home and today wasn't the day to eat at our usual place, so we immediately prepared things for tomorrow and decided to order food to avoid leaving the house, especially since it was cold. We ordered from "efood" and today's meal was carbonara. Here it's a little different from what I'm used to, especially because they put cheese on top of the entire pasta.
27/03/2026
We woke up, got ready, and continued our journey to work. This time I decided to have breakfast at home. Today at work we managed to make progress; we now have access to all the code and the entire database. Now we can finally work on the website without breaking anything.
Lunch Time
After lunch, we didn't know where to go for lunch, but one thing was for sure, we didn't feel like eating any more bread. So we went to Goody's and I decided to have one of their delicious salads.
After lunch we updated our blogs, rested a bit, and before we knew it, it was time for work. Today we visited another Lexis. Here we set up two new computers and spoke with two different classes. We showed them a bit of Portugal and discussed topics about our culture.
Dinner Time
We left work and it was practically dinnertime, so we went straight to the restaurant. Today the owner asked if we wanted something different and I said yes. The name of this dish is Fried Chicken, but honestly there's nothing fried about it. I was confused, but it was very different; I wouldn't say it was amazing, but it was actually good.
28/03/2026
We started the day very early, around 9:30 we were already out of the house and ready to drive to another location to visit a very famous museum here in Greece, more specifically the Royal Tombs Museum of Aigai, located in the modern village of Vergina. The trip there was very good, it took about 30 minutes and we needed to take two cars, Kostis's car and Dimitri's car (Kostis's friend who, coincidentally, spent a year in Portugal and knew how to speak a little Portuguese).
When we arrived at the Museum, we found many people (students and tourists) buying tickets and visiting the Museum. At first, we were a little confused because when we talk about a Museum, we expect a building, but no, here the museum was underground and located beneath this small hill.
The entrance to the museum is quite interesting because we are literally entering the mountain, and the first thing you notice is the darkness of the place. Inside the museum it is very dark.

Crowns
The photos show the Tomb of Philip II, a monumental structure from the 4th century BC with an intact marble facade and columns. The models detail the interior, divided into two vaulted chambers, where royal treasures and original paintings were found. This find is unique for having remained sealed and free from looting for over 2300 years.
This tomb is known as the Prince's Tomb (attributed to Alexander IV, son of Alexander the Great). The facade stands out for its two painted circular shields and a frieze decorated in blue. Scale models reveal the interior where a silver urn containing ashes and a gold oak wreath were found, all preserved intact.
A small souvenir
Before we left, we passed by a souvenir shop and I decided to buy this keychain. I thought it was interesting and it's in my style.
On the way to Veria, Kostis decided to stop halfway to show us something beautiful: the largest river in Greece, very close to our city. The river is truly enormous and the view is incredible. From what I understand, the only downside is that you can't swim there because the barriers could open at any moment, and people could be swept away, resulting in a very unpleasant outcome.
We finally arrived in Veria, it was lunchtime and we were starving. We wanted something other than bread with meat and meat with bread, so we decided to try this restaurant. During the day it's practically empty, but the food there is really good. After lunch we went home to rest and work on our blogs.
Later, Ines and I went to get coffee and we met Antonio and Francisco.
After the coffee, we chatted and strolled around the city, and we passed by this shop and bought an ice cream.
After coffee it was practically dinnertime and we were still hungry, so we went to eat at a different place that a resident of Veria recommended. And he was right, the best gyros I've ever eaten!
29/03/2026
We started the day even earlier than yesterday; today Kostis arranged a visit for us to one of the most unique and beautiful cities in Greece, Meteora. We left home at 8:30 and a van was already waiting for us, ready to take us to our destination. We were all tired because the clocks changed in the early morning, so we slept an hour less than usual.
We drove along the Greek roads for two and a half hours. So far everything was going well, most people were sleeping and this stop was great for stretching our legs a bit. This service station was quite large, it looked like a huge Chinese shop, full of different things and, as usual, very expensive. Next to the shop there were two abandoned-looking Mazdas that I really liked.
We finally arrived, but the trip didn't go entirely as planned. The journey took longer than expected, the driver was constantly on his cell phone, and worse, he smoked in the car. After some suffering during the trip, we arrived. The first impression was that it was beautiful. A very mountainous and unique region, here the mountains were separated from each other, and what stands out most is the fact that there are buildings on top of the mountains. How difficult must that have been to build?
Unfortunately, I couldn't take many photos because every place had a sign like this, and the building was full of nuns preventing me from doing so.
We spent an hour in the church; it was very beautiful and undoubtedly a unique experience. After that, it was lunchtime, so the driver called us and we went directly to the nearest town, Kalambaka. This town is very interesting because it's right next to the mountain and has an incredible view, but it's more expensive than Veria and the food is much worse. We went to this restaurant and made the worst decision ever. I ordered a chicken burger with fries. The burger came with beef, and the fries tasted like pure oil. I don't recommend it to anyone.
Unfortunately, after lunch we returned to the van and the driver started driving. We all thought we were going back to the mountains, but it was taking a while, so we asked where we were going, and the driver said we were going back to Veria. We were outraged and sad because the price we paid for the van to take us didn't compensate for the trip.
Well, in short, we spent 2 hours in a new place, lunch was awful, and the rest of the day was spent in a van with a driver who was smoking and talking on his cell phone.
We arrived in Veria exhausted. We went home and rested until dinnertime. At dinnertime, Ines and I weren't very hungry, so we decided to buy three bougatsas, two sweet ones and one a mix of meat and pizza. They were all very good.

We started the day like any other normal week. I woke up, had breakfast, and went straight to work. Today was more efficient, and we made more progress on the website.
After work, we went to the market to buy some essentials and arrived home. We cooked chicken and made a wrap that was delicious.
After lunch we went back to work, continuing our blog until it was time to return to work.
It's time to get back to work. Today we went to another new Lexis that we'd never been to before. This Lexis had 3 rooms and we had 3 computers to assemble. Everything went well, we spoke with a very organized group and even got chocolates, everyone here is amazing.
We left work later than usual, to the point of being late for dinner, but it's okay, at least now when we leave it's still sunny, I'd missed this time of day. We arrived and I decided to order what I had last time. It wasn't so bad and quite filling.
31/03/2026
We started the day by going to a pastry shop right across from Lexis. We ate a Bougatsa and only had a card to pay, but their card reader wasn't working, so they trusted us to pay later (after work we went to withdraw cash and paid).
At work, we continued our usual tasks and today we've already made some progress, we've finished the secondary pages of the Lexis website for now. I'm hoping to finish the main page tomorrow.
Very simple layout, disorganized and without attention to detail.
Simple layout, with some better organization and easier to read.
Lunchtime and we look around the house again, Ines cooked this delicious pasta while I washed all the dishes.
After lunch and washing the dishes we get back to work on the blog and wait until it's time to log back in.
Time to get back to work and today we visited another Lexis to assemble 2 computers. This Lexis is a bit hidden because it's located on the first floor and normally we expect a school on the ground floor. The students were quite shy but we managed to chat with them a bit. The only different thing is that when we arrived at Lexis our colleague Antonio (who is interning in the library) kept us company and helped us with the work.
We left work late and today our usual restaurant was closed, so we had to improvise. Antonio and Francisco were going to have dinner at a restaurant that looked very nice, so Ines and I went with them and we didn't regret it at all. The food was very, very good and reasonably priced.
To end our day, we had a meeting about some Erasmus-related matters with our professor Duarte and Professor Elisabete. The meeting went well; we discussed several topics, and by the time it ended, it was quite late.
01/04/2026
We woke up and got ready for work, but as soon as we left we saw it was raining, and since we didn't have an umbrella, we asked if it was okay to wait for the rain to stop, and Antony said yes, it was fine. Unfortunately, the rain continued, and we ended up staying home, unable to go out, so we continued working on the Lexis website from home and finished it.
Very simple layout, disorganized and without attention to detail.
A more eye catching, organized, and easier to read layout.
Lunchtime arrived and Ines cooked this incredible pasta for me again. Looking at our blog, you can tell we both love pasta.
After lunch we kept ourselves busy updating our blog.
We just updated our blog and watched a movie, so we decided to order some sweets for ourselves.
It was dinnertime and it was still raining, and as much as we didn't want to go out and get wet, we had to. So we grabbed our coats and used them as umbrellas until we got to the restaurant. Today I had chicken nuggets and they were very good.
02/04/2026
Today we woke up and noticed the sound of rain again. We went outside and it was raining exactly like yesterday, but yesterday we had already stayed home working and, not wanting to take advantage of Antony's understanding and because we like him a lot, we decided to get caught in the rain on our way to work. We arrived at work a little wet, but everything went well. Today our job was to see and try out Lexis' new acquisition, VR glasses with a mobile phone.
Lunchtime arrived and we decided to return to "Roma Pizza". The food was good as always and incredibly well-priced for the quality, but today we decided to have dessert. We went to eat a Bougatsa at our usual spot after lunch and it was very good as always.
After lunch we went home and continued our blog. It was time to go back to work and today we went to another Lexis, but this one we already knew. We walked there, luckily it wasn't raining anymore, and our job was to install 2 more computers and talk to some students. After we finished everything we went home again until dinnertime.
It was dinnertime and it started raining again, but we had to go to the restaurant, so off we went. I ordered Chicken Nuggets again and they were good as always. After dinner we felt like doing something, so I, Ines, Antonio, Francisco and I went to play snooker.
03/04/2026
Today we woke up and left the house, but not to work, but rather to have a coffee and kill some time because Friday is cleaning day. And why didn't we go to work? Because today we had the day off since we have work very early tomorrow; tomorrow we're going to attend the exams that are carried out at Lexis, and since that will take about 4 hours, Antony gave us today off.
After having our coffee, since we needed to kill time, we walked around some shops and strolled through the city a bit until lunchtime.
We strolled around until lunchtime and were very undecided about where to eat, so after much thought and not reaching any conclusion, we decided to go to Goodys again. Today I tried something new and it was very good.
After lunch the cleaning lady had already left and we went back home. We packed our things, got comfortable and got back to work on the blog.
We stayed home until dinnertime. Today we went to our usual place for dinner, as always, and once again I had the chicken nuggets. The nuggets here are different and a little strange, but of everything I've ever eaten, this is the food I liked the most.

We woke up, got ready, and went to get coffee. This Saturday was a little different; since we had Friday off, Antony suggested we go watch the computer exams on Saturday morning. It was four long hours inside the exam room, but it was quite interesting. To our surprise, Antonio (a colleague who is interning at the library) decided to join us that morning. We left around lunchtime.
After our internship, we immediately went to lunch because we were starving. And what could be more filling than a Gyro in Greece? So we went to "Dinner 4 All" to have the best Gyro I've ever eaten.
After lunch, we all went home and continued our blog.
We were all bored, so Ines, Antonio, and I decided to leave the house for a bit and have a coffee to talk. While we were talking, the idea came up to play a game or two of snooker, and since we didn't have much else to do, we decided to go ahead and do it.
Our snooker games always last a while, and we had enough time until dinner, so we finished our game and went to have dinner again at "Olive". This restaurant has been the best I've eaten at so far.

Today we woke up and, since we didn't visit anything yesterday, we had something to do today. Today's destination was Thessaloniki. We've been there before, but the city is so big and has so much to see that we decided to explore a bit more. We took the 11:00 bus and arrived around 12:30. Something funny that happened during the trip is that we saw a car with its trunk open, driving fast and overtaking (as you can see in the third photo).
We bought our bus tickets and our first stop was at the nearest shopping mall, not only for lunch but also to explore a bit. We looked around the mall, had lunch, and after lunch, we took a closer look at the various shops. From what I could tell, this mall is an outlet, although the prices are still as expensive as in regular stores. In the Adidas store they have Benfica t-shirts, which was quite surprising, at least to me.
We left the shopping mall and caught another bus. Our second stop of the day was the Thessaloniki War Museum. It was one of the few museums that looked interesting and was open, so why not go see it? We took a chance and didn't regret it. It had so much stuff and so much history about the wars Greece went through.
Below you can see more about this museum:
Here we could find all kinds of weapons. The customized blue pistol won my heart.
The museum was entirely represented by mannequins, and they were a little creepy.
Clothes, letters, equipment and much more, all the accessories used were here.
From a simple jeep, to tanks, and finally to an airplane. How did they manage to put an airplane in the museum?
Walls filled with paintings and photos full of history. In these representations, one could see everything.
The sheer number of medals there are is absurd. How difficult must it be to have just one?
After visiting the museum, we were going to pass by the White Tower to take some photos, but along the way we saw a huge tower and decided to go see what it was. To our surprise, it was a cafe bar called "Skyline". And as coffee lovers, we decided to check it out.
We went up 76 meters in the elevator and sat at a table. Our first impression was that this place was incredible, beautiful, and with an amazing view.
We ordered a coffee to try, and after a while our view had changed, and that's when we realized that the floor moved 360 degrees. We were amazed when we found out and had to stay long enough to do a complete rotation.
After the amazing coffee bar, we went to see a small open-air market that was taking place right next door. We learned that the open-air market here is quite similar to the one in Portugal.
Before heading back to the bus station, we decided to enjoy the view of this beautiful city for a while.
After a long day we returned to the bus station, picked up our return ticket and boarded the bus.
We finally arrived in Veria and the first thing we did was go to "All Time" for dinner and another one of their delicious baguettes.
After that we went to our apartments to rest.

We woke up, got ready, and took a 30-minute walk, even stopping by the cafe. We walked and walked until we reached our destination for today, the "Super Course" publishing house. This is because it's the publisher Lexis uses. From the outside it looks very basic, but inside it's completely different.
Lots of rooms with equipment prepared for the workers, common rooms, kitchens, and much more. Without a doubt, a very interesting place to work.
We were received in a super welcoming way, everyone was super friendly, and we even received one of their books as a gift. It was very good.
After our visit to the Super Course, we returned home and cooked lunch. After lunch we did what we always do, work on the blog. However, today when I was almost finished I received this warning which prevented me from continuing to edit and made me lose some information I had already posted. It was annoying but I had to redo everything that was lost.
After starting the blog, Ines, Antonio, and I decided to meet up for a bit. We ended up eating Bougatsa and strolling around the city. We even came to a very unique market with lots of things called "Green." I ended up buying a Greek flag.
After our walk, it was dinnertime and we went to our usual spot. To change things up a bit, I ordered nuggets again (it was the only thing I genuinely liked).
After dinner we went home to rest.

We woke up, got ready, and went once again to our favorite coffee shop, "Coffee Island." We ordered an iced drink because today was another very hot day.
Today we started our last task of this internship; our job will be to install as many computers as we can in the remaining Lexis locations, starting with the main one. At the Lexis where we usually work, we changed and organized the room where Antony teaches IT. The setup was a success, and the organization was so professional that even the screws were neatly arranged.
In the photos below you can see a little of what we did today.
We worked until lunchtime and went to "Roma Pizza" again. The prices here are quite affordable and the pasta is amazing!
After lunch we went home to continue our blog.
It was time to get back to work, and today we had some computers to assemble at Lexis, where they do the IT exams. However, unfortunately, the man who was supposed to drop them off at Lexis couldn't. So we went back to the main Lexis location and ended up having coffee with Antony.
After work we still had time for dinner and we decided to try something different, so I, Ines, Antônio and Francisco decided to walk to Lidl (it took us about 15 minutes just to get there).x
After our visit to Lidl we had to rush to the restaurant because we were going to be late, and in fact, we ended up arriving 10 minutes late, but everything went well. Today I ate Nuggets again and I think I'll be eating the same ones until the end of my Erasmus exchange.

We woke up, called ourselves, and went straight to work. Today, Antony was going to teach English to senior citizens and wanted us to help them improve their vocabulary. I really enjoyed talking to them; they were very kind and friendly. Right after class, Antony took us to have breakfast at the bakery across the street and ended up giving us the rest of the afternoon free to relax and enjoy ourselves.
After work we went home and decided to cook our lunch one last time in Veria. We also did this to use up the supplies we had bought so as not to waste anything; it was very good.
After lunch we worked on part of the blog and we didn't feel like spending the afternoon at home, so since Inês and I had a free afternoon, we decided to go for coffee with our colleague Antonio.
We stayed in the cafe talking until we got hungry for dinner.
When hunger started to set in, we decided to have dinner at "Olive" to treat ourselves. The food here is incredibly delicious and the prices aren't that outrageous. Our colleague Francisco decided to join us for dinner.
After dinner, we had a meeting scheduled with the teachers, specifically Professor Duarte and Professor Elisabete. We discussed our work and what our return to Portugal would be like. Everything went well.

Today is our last day of the internship. We helped Antony with a few things, and we had a chance to talk and say goodbye. It was a great pleasure to meet and work for Antony, and it will undoubtedly remain in our memories forever. Thank you, Antony, for everything, and I hope we meet again someday.
After saying goodbye to Antony and Lexis, we went back to "Roma Pizza" for lunch. The food was delicious as always, and today they offered us a slice of chocolate cake as a gift.
After lunch we were bored and didn't know what to do, so Inês, Antonio, Francisco and I decided to walk around the city and visit some places. We went to markets, shops and passed by this very beautiful church, but even then we didn't know what else to do.
We discovered a place where it was possible to play various games, one of which was bowling. We called a taxi and went there; it was a bit far. From the outside it looked like a giant warehouse, but inside it was a huge games room with many games. We played bowling and snooker. It was cheap and fun, and the view definitely made up for it.
After bowling, we decided to go for a hike in the mountains. We walked until we reached a very beautiful and crystal-clear river; the water was practically transparent. Next to the river were some wooden buildings intended for picnics, but it was clear they hadn't been used for many years. It was beautiful, and with the sun setting behind the mountains, it was even more incredible.
After our adventures, we called a taxi and returned to the center of Veria. It was dinnertime, so we went to our usual restaurant. Today I decided to try something different and ordered a chicken wrap. It was good and quite filling. After dinner, we went home to rest.
10/04/2026
Today we woke up a little earlier even though we no longer have an internship, but today was a different day, Professor Inês Pinheiro arrived in Veria last night with the aim of picking us up and taking us back to Portugal. It's true, our time here in Greece is coming to an end...
We met with the professor and showed her a little of the city of Veria until lunchtime.
After showing the teacher a bit of the city, Inês, Antonio, Francisco and I were going to have lunch at "Olive" to say goodbye to Veria in style, but unfortunately the restaurant was full and there was no room for us. Knowing this, we went back to "Roma Pizza" to eat their delicious pizzas once more.
After lunch we went home to start packing our things and getting the blog going. After we did that it was still early, so Inês, Antonio, Francisco and I all went out and passed by a place that made these delicious crepes. For the price, it was well worth it!
We spent time chatting and strolling until dinnertime, and when the time came, we were already there. Today was our last day in Veria and at this restaurant; in a way, we'll miss everything, but it was good while it lasted.
Today, to change things up a bit from everything I ate, I ordered Nuggets again.
During our dinner hour, an event took place that coincides with the day of Christ's crucifixion. Here, people silently follow the image of Christ with candles in their hands, symbolizing the loss and death of Jesus Christ. I won't lie, the atmosphere was a bit heavy, but it was quite interesting to see how other religions besides the Portuguese one celebrate Easter.

Well, we've reached the end of our stay in Veria, it was quite good while it lasted, the people are all amazing and it was an unforgettable experience.
But anyway, we started the day very early by grabbing our last coffee and went straight to the bus station to catch the bus to Thessaloniki.
After an hour and a half journey we arrived in Thessaloniki and the first thing we did was buy tickets for the city bus to go to the hostel where we will spend our last night in Greece.
We arrived at the hostel and were surprised; our first impression was that we were going to have a very comfortable night. We are divided into 2 rooms, 1 room for the girls and the other for the boys. There are 6 of us boys, but our room is actually great. Three bunk beds, making six comfortable beds, with an equipped bathroom included.
In addition to the room, we also had other areas of the hostel to explore.
On the sixth floor we have an entire floor dedicated to a huge common room; without a doubt, we'll be spending a good amount of time here before we go to sleep.
On the seventh floor there's a cafe bar at our disposal, and as we're "residents" of this hostel we were entitled to a small discount. I don't know if we'll be here, but it's definitely a very relaxing area.
It was lunchtime, we needed to eat and kill time, so we decided to spend an hour on the bus to get to the city's biggest shopping mall, called "Cosmos". We arrived and the bus stop was a McDonald's Happy Meal, very different but cool. We went to a pasta place for lunch and the food was very, very, very salty. Since I wasn't satisfied, I went to KFC and bought a hamburger. After lunch we explored the mall a bit and then took a bus back to the city center.
We returned to the city center and admired the beauty of the city at sunset, and to get a better view we decided to try a ride on a tourist boat that travels along the city's waterfront. The entrance fee was 7 euros and we spent 30 minutes on the boat, but it was worth it and very beautiful.
After the boat trip it was late and we were hungry, so we played it safe and went to a place we knew was good and would definitely fill us up, "Crats". The food was good as always and very filling.
When we arrived at the hostel and were working on our blog, we started hearing music and some street sounds, and when we looked, there were many people in front of the church next to the hostel, a lot of people. And when midnight struck, everyone had a candle in their hand. I won't lie, it was a little scary, but we decided to go see for ourselves and even participated in the tradition.
After all this, we went to sleep to prepare for our trip tomorrow morning.
12/04/2026
We woke up very early in the morning, around 5:40 am, because our bus was at 6:45 am to go directly to Thessaloniki airport.
We grabbed our things, got on the bus and arrived at the airport; it was about a 40-minute trip.
When we arrived, we took care of the boarding process and waited (slept). As soon as it was possible to board the plane, we went to Krakow, Poland.
After a 2-hour trip, we finally arrived in Krakow. The temperature difference is quite noticeable, and the airport was quite large and beautiful.
We had to wait a few hours to check in, and since it was lunchtime and everything is expensive at the airport, Inês, Antonio, Francisco, and I decided to order Uber Eats for lunch.
While we waited, we walked around, chatted, and played games.
After waiting quite a while for the food, it finally arrived. We ordered Subway, and it wasn't bad; it was my first time trying it, and it was good.
After lunch, we took a walk around the airport and ended up sitting down to get ahead on the blog until our departure time.
After waiting seven hours at the airport, it's finally time to go home. See you in Portugal!
Finally, after four long and arduous hours, we've arrived home! I loved Greece, but nothing compares to my Portugal. Say what you will, Portugal will always be my place.
