As a reminder, EPS high school students are allowed to use their Career Exploration Day for one (1) day of the following events.

On-going throughout the school year, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., UNK-Health Science Explorers Career Club: High schoolers in grades 9-12 interested in healthcare professions are encouraged to join the year-long Health Science Explorers Career Club. They can explore a world of opportunities in healthcare careers, gain leadership skills, and prepare for college alongside other students from Nebraska and Kansas. It's $20 to join, and membership can be renewed every year in August during their high school years. Checkout this flyer for more information!

Beginning September 13, students will meet virtually on the second Wednesday of each month from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. Students will also gather in-person twice during the year to tour Nebraska hospitals. Attendance for these tours is encouraged but not required.

May 29-30, 2024, Toolmaker and Machining Summer Camp for High School Students: If you are a high school junior or senior, come learn from the best! Join SCC's instructors on May 29th and 30th for a two day camp where you will learn how to run various metal cutting machines such as manual lathes, Bridgeport mills, CNC mills and CNC lathes.

May 29-31 and June 10-12, 2024, UNL Discover Accounting, Discover Actuarial Science, and DREAMBIG Academy High School Programs: Applications are due this Sunday, April 14 for the 2024 University of Nebraska–Lincoln Discover Accounting, Discover Actuarial Science, and DREAMBIG Academy high school programs. These FREE programs offered by the College of Business are great opportunities for students to learn about business, their strengths and how they can leverage them in a career. Please spread the word to your high school sophomores, juniors and seniors about these opportunities.

June & July (Dates listed below), Health Science Explorers Summer Camps at UNK: We encourage students entering grades 7-12 to seize the opportunity to explore healthcare professions at UNK's Health Science Explorers Summer Camps. Camps offer a great chance to dive into health sciences, healthcare careers, scholarships, and topics on wellness, anatomy, and more. Lunch is included and participants get a cool t-shirt. June 5 - July 16, 2024, UNO IT High School PAID Internship: UNO's IS&T is hosting an 8-week, 20 hours per week PAID internship. Applicants must be 16 years old at application and entering 10th-12th grade by Fall 2024. Students will work alongside IS&T faculty and students to complete a research project while learning new concepts, skills, and tools. Click the links below to learn more and apply TODAY!

June 6, 2024, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., FBI-Teen Academy: Our Teen Academy program allows high school students an opportunity to get a comprehensive look into today’s FBI. Generally, each course iteration is a minimum of eight hours but can be a week-long program with blocks of instruction and demonstrations at a local field office. Students are provided with several presentations on topics including terrorism, cyber crime, public corruption, polygraph exams, evidence response, SWAT, and the day-to-day operations of a typical FBI office. Students also learn from special agents, intelligence analysts, language specialists, and professional staff about investigative tactics that include gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and assisting with cases. June 10-14, June 24-28, and July 15-19, 2024, Summer Wildlife Conservations Science Academy: We here at Nebraska Wildlife rehab are hosting a new High School Science Academy program this summer for NEW students (never attended our school year sessions). This fast-tracked cohort will hit many areas or conservation and wildlife sciences. This program is also completely free to students. For more details, click here!

June 10-August 2, 2024, KE Camps at The Players Club in Omaha: Joining our team offers an engaging environment for students to thrive and build critical skills sought after by employers such as creativity, problem solving, flexibility, collaboration, organization, planning, and communication.

This summer, we will be running a small program at The Players Club in Omaha, NE for ages 4-11. Camp will run Monday-Friday from June 10 – August 2. This flyer contains key information about this opportunity, including a QR Code that leads to the application. I have also linked to the application here for you to view. If a student has any questions that they need answered prior to submitting an application, they can complete this form. Completion of this form does not take the place of an official application and our formal interview process.

June 25-27, 2024, Project Extra Mile's annual Youth Leadership Retreat will be held this year from June 25th-27th in Omaha. Please consider this unique opportunity to not only improve your school and community, but also gain valuable leadership and advocacy skills that will serve you well in post-secondary education, in careers, and in life.

This opportunity is open to all incoming 8th-12th graders interested in developing leadership and advocacy skills to help prevent underage drinking and its harms. Nationally recognized youth facilitator Nigel Wrangham will help youth from all over Nebraska find their voices and understand how to use them effectively to make positive change. Nigel has been working with Nebraska youth for over two decades and is excited to return to help our young leaders continue to grow their leadership and advocacy skills.

Raikes School of Computer Science and Management at theUniversity of Nebraska–Lincolnis now accepting applications for a summer learning opportunity for high school students. The Raikes School is hosting its eighth year of “Innovate: The Raikes School Way,” led by Executive Director of the Raikes School, Dr. Steve Cooper. The summer camp was highlighted by Forbes in 2019:"STEM-Focused Summer Programs for Ambitious High School Students."

Omaha STEM Ecosystem and AIM Institute announced the launch of the FREE online STEM Community Platform, presented by Cox. The mission of the STEM Community Platform is to connect youth, parents, educators and professionals to an online hub of high-quality STEM programs, resources and events. The website offers easy functionality for the user to find kids camps, career listings in STEM career fields and informational resources for elementary aged children to adults.

Opera Omaha-Student Dress Rehearsals: Going beyond the ordinary field trip experience, Student Dress Rehearsals at Opera Omaha offer students a deep, meaningful encounter with many of the elements that bring the productions to the stage and a chance to see how a show is fine-tuned while watching many of the professional artists, technicians and managers in action.

Dress rehearsals are a great opportunity for students to experience an opera performance and see artisans at work before the show opens to the public. We are privileged to be able to offer our students and chaperones this amazing opportunity for FREE. More information is available here!
