Celebrating our graduates

Asha Friedman

HEAD MADRICHA

Started at Emanuel in 2008

Emanuel is a place where I feel comfortable expressing my passions, and where I feel heard.

Asha is a conscientious and popular student who enjoys new challenges and experiences. She is grateful to her teachers and mentors who have supported her throughout her school journey, for the opportunities she was given as Head Madricha and the confidence that she developed as a result. The School’s Leadership program has enabled Asha to further develop valuable skills and has helped prepare her for life beyond school where innovation and the ability to mediate and work as a team are keys for success.

She feels Emanuel has helped her consider the beliefs and value systems of others, allowing her to discover, develop and define her own. As a leader during 2020, she has been challenged to find creative and innovative ways of organising activities and events for her peers and other students. She is proud of how she adapted to this.

Asha, who started at Emanuel in Year K, feels that her teachers have encouraged her to stand up for her beliefs. She has taken personal responsibility for her impact on the environment and has been involved in raising awareness of environmental causes at school. She has helped implement and run the School’s composting system and has advocated for reducing the School’s impact on climate change and increasing the focus on animal welfare.

Asha’s teachers describe her as a respectful and kind student, who confidently shares her beliefs and thoughts about the world. Her peers describe her as a humble, passionate and strong person.

Asha plans to take a gap year in 2021 and invest more time volunteering for the Me2U Foundation before studying Interior Architecture or International Studies.
