On a weekly basis, the Dialogue Cafe at TJACE@PVCC differs from the typical English class -- it focuses only on conversation and is purely student driven. The Dialogue Café
provides a rare opportunity for the English learner to practice speaking in a supportive and fun environment. Our unofficial motto is: “The only way to improve your English speaking is by speaking English.”
Join us for an opportunity to broaden your perspectives on current topics through lively discussion in a multicultural group. Each breakout group will have a moderator to ensure that all participants have a chance to express their views and that exchanges are respectful and on topic. Our hope is that everyone who participates in the Dialogue Café will make new friends, learn about each other's cultures, and enjoy themselves.

This Bollywood Dance Fitness Workout combines dance choreography with the music from Bollywood. Inspired by a love for dance and a craze for Bollywood music numbers, instructor Kumud Vanderveer thought why not combine dance with exercise and make it a fun way to work out! There will be a 45-minute cardio workout, between changing intensity dance sequences to get you moving, sweating, and having fun at the same time. This workout not only tones your entire body but also burns serious calories. A great way to release the stress hormones from the body and make you feel light and happy. No prior dance experience is required – just a positive attitude and the desire to have fun! Wear comfortable workout clothes, we will be dancing without shoes. Have water and a hand towel ready. Kindly check with your physician for any medical conditions before signing up for this class. Contact JMRL with questions at www.jmrl.org or call 434.973.7893 x3.

Khadija Hemmati came to the United States from Afghanistan in 2016 and immediately began working to make a better life for herself and her family. She started her own farmer’s market booth and quickly developed a reputation for delicious food throughout the community, catering parties and events. With the help of Frontline Foods she was able to continue her business by making meals for those struggling during the pandemic. Khadija now sells her delicious food full time at several farmer’s markets throughout central and northern Virginia.
Heidi Gordon is an ESOL teacher at TJACE@PVCC. She has had the privilege of teaching the IRC’s English classes since 2002. In a previous life, she taught English in Mexico, Malaysia and Japan.
