Day 1

2. Sketchbook-15 minutes.
3. Elements and Principles of Art.
5. Pencil Shading-YouTube Demonstrations:
6. Draw & shade six types of line with graphite pencils: contour line, side of pencil, straight lines, rounded scribbles, cross hatching and stiphs & dots.
Objectives: Sketchbook is a guided daily 10 minute drawing warm up activity to enrich artistic skills & explore creativity. Students will review the elements and principles of art and elements of design and use them as fundamental skills when designing art. Students will draw and shade spheres with graphite pencils to learn shading techniques.
Assessments: Students will understand course goals and expectations. Students will actively participate in the sketchbook activity and demonstrate a progression of artistic ability. Students will apply the elements and principles of art throughout the course to their artwork. Students will demonstrate correct shading of spheres using their pencil.

Days 2-6
Activities:

3. Color Worksheet & Coloring a Color Wheel.
Objectives: Sketchbook is a guided daily 10 minute drawing warm up activity to enrich artistic skills & explore creativity. Review the color wheel.
Assessments: Students will actively participate in the sketchbook activity and demonstrate a progression of artistic ability. Students will demonstrate use of color in upcoming projects.

Day: 8

2. Personal Mandala- how to add color.
Objective: Sketchbook is a guided daily 10 minute drawing warm up activity to enrich artistic skills & explore creativity. Create a Mandala project using the elements and principles of art, color theory, shading techniques, creative designs and personal symbolism.
Assessments: Students will actively participate in the sketchbook activity and demonstrate a progression of artistic ability. Students will complete a self evaluation of their completed Mandala. Students will demonstrate high quality of craftsmanship, the elements & principles of art and color theory in their projects.

Homework: Find images to use for the Clay Plaque project.
Objectives: Use clay to create a sculpture incorporating personal interests while using clay sculpting techniques.
Assessments: Students will gain clay sculpting techniques using the elements and principles of art.

Days: 31-51
Activities:
1. Torn Paper Values Portrait Project-Introduction, rubric project details.
Homework: Photograph a person and save it in your Google email or drive.
Objectives: Mix paint colors (tints & shades) effectively. Create a portrait of a person. Use values effectively - showing tints and shading in appropriate areas. Have values in your art piece.
Assessments: Elements of Art Focus: Color-ability to mix tempera paint and create correct tints and shades. Elements of Art Focus: Value-demonstrate ability to show lightness and darkness in contrast placed correctly on self portrait. Visual Quality/Craftsmanship: Stability & Neatness in the construction of project. Completion of project-fully completed and turned in on time.
