Objective(s): Become familiar with the course expectations & projects. Use the portfolio to store work in the art room. The portfolio will focus on organizational skills and personal pride in student work.
Assessment(s): Students will have an understanding of course expectations. Students will use the portfolio for organizational skills in the classroom.

Tints and shades, pressure blends, stippling, scrumbling, sgraffito and blending.
Objective(s): Work with oil pastels as a medium to create tints and shades, pressure blends, stippling, scrumbling, sgaffito and blending.
Assessment(s): Students will demonstrate how to use oil pastels to create tints and shades, pressure blends, stippling, scrumbling, sgaffito and blending.

2. Basic Oil Pastel Techniques: Rule of 3's
Objective(s): Use color theory and take 3 different colors and layer them with oil pastels to create an abstract work of art with a variety of shapes. Each shape should have a different mixture of 3 colors layered.
Assessment(s): Create an artwork by using color theory and layering of 3 oil pastel colors using a variety of shapes and colors to complete an abstract work of art.

2. Northern Lights Mountain Sky
Objective(s): Work with oil pastels as a medium to create tints and shades, pressure blends, stippling, scrumbling, sgraffito and blending to create a project.
Assessment(s): Students will demonstrate how to use oil pastels to create tints and shades, pressure blends, stippling, scrumbling, sgraffito and blending.

1. Learn the history of Vincent Van Gogh.
2. Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night at the MoMA
3. Tutorial of a recreation of Starry Night using oil pastels.
Homework: Practice using oil pastels for fun at home! :)
Objectives: Study history and artwork by Vincent Van Gogh to inspire their own oil pastel artwork.
Assessments: Students will create an oil pastel artwork with inspiration from Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night.

Assessments: A final work of art that resembles a Flower Tree using oil pastels and the following: rule of 3's, tints and shades, pressure blends, stippling, scrumbling, sgaffito and blending.
