Learning Outcomes
Students should be able to:
- identify a unit circle
- identify the four quadrants on a unit circle
- use the unit circle to define sine, cosine and tangent for any angle
- state the sign of each trig functions in each of the four quadrants
- relate the angle in any quadrant back to an equivalent first quadrant angle
- find values of each trig function from 0 to 360°
- convert between degrees and radians
- state exact values for special angles given in degrees or radians
- solve simple trig equations for angles from 0 to 360°
- sketch the basic graphs for sin, cos, tan between 0 and 360°
Victorian Curriculum
- (10A) Use the unit circle to define trigonometric functions as functions of a real variable, and graph them with and without the use of digital technologies (VCMMG368)
- (10A) Solve simple trigonometric equations (VCMMG369)
Tasks
- Complete selected questions from Ex 4I, 4J, 4K
