Success criteria
I am able to:
· convert between metric units of area
· recall and use the rule for area of a square, rectangle, triangle, parallelogram, trapezium, rhombus, kite, circle and sector
· use the area rules to solve worded problems
Composite Shapes
Learning goal
By the end of the lesson I will be able to find the area of various composite shapes with correct units.
Success criteria
I am able to:
· divide a composite shape into 2 or more basic shapes
· decide whether to add or subtract the parts of a composite shape to calculate the total area
· solve worded problems using composite shapes
Surface Area Of Prisms And Pyramids
Learning goal
By the end of the lesson I will be able to find the surface area of various prisms and pyramids.
Success criteria
I am able to:
· determine whether an object is a prism, pyramid or neither
· identify and draw the net of an object
· determine the surface area of a cube, rectangular prism and triangular prism
· determine the surface area of a square based pyramid, rectangular based pyramid and triangular based pyramid
· determine the surface area of composite objects by addition of all face areas
· solve worded problems using surface area
