Victorian Curriculum
- Duration - 4 weeks
- Investigate index notation and represent whole numbers as products of powers of prime numbers(VCMNA238)
- Investigate and use square roots of perfect square numbers (VCMNA239)
- Apply the associative, commutative and distributive laws to aid mental and written computation and make estimates for these computations (VCMNA240)
- Compare, order, add and subtract integers(VCMNA241)
Learning Goals:
By the end of the course, we will learn to:
- add and subtract whole positive numbers
- multiply and divide whole positive numbers
- identify factors, multiples, primes, composites, highest common factors, lowest common multiples
- add and subtract negative whole numbers
- multiply and divide negative whole numbers
- apply appropriate procedures for multiple operations of numbers
Success criteria
I have
- shown how to do calculations involving large numbers, using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- created factor trees to find factors, and primes of numbers
- completed calculations that have negative numbers
- found Highest Common Factors and Lowest Common Multiples of groups of numbers
