If you wish to discuss any matters regarding your child’s wellbeing please contact the school on (02) 9981 1155 and request to speak to the Year Adviser or the Head Teacher Wellbeing.
When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier, and your child will build and maintain friendships with other children.
Parents can foster positive attendance habits by:
Helping their child learn the importance of punctuality and routine.
Reducing disruption to learning, where possible, by organising appointments out of school hours.
Communicating any absence to the school within 7 days.
Arriving at school and class on time:
Ensures that students do not miss out on important learning activities scheduled early in the day
Helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine
Gives students time to greet their friends before class
Lateness is recorded as a partial absence and must be explained by parents.
At Cromer Campus we recognise that working collaboratively with students and their families is the best way to support the regular attendance of students at school.
A feature of the public education system in NSW is the opportunity to provide time in class for education in ethics, faith and morality from a religious or non-religious perspective at the choice of parents/carers.
A parent/carer may at any time notify the school in writing that they wish to change their decision. Students will continue the same arrangement as the previous year, unless a parent/carer has requested a change in writing.
The options are available at Northern Beaches Secondary College Cromer Campus are listed on the Northern Peninsular SRE website.
View the Education Dept website for more information about SRE including the list of approved providers.
For any questions contact Mr Schouten in the Learning Support Staff Room.
A small group of Year 7 & 8 boys are participating in the Fit For Life program which allows students to explore, learn and understand skills required to be successful in today’s world. This involves practical activities and open discussion-based learning where students not only learn from the facilitators but also from each other.
Student Support Officers (SSOs) work within our school community to enhance the learning and wellbeing outcomes of students, in partnership with the wellbeing team. SSOs also play a pivotal role in working collaboratively with external agencies and creating referral pathways for students and families to youth and family support agencies.
Elliot S (Year 10) is attending the plumbing program
This term students have been participating in Tafe Taster Courses. Courses are held one day a week and give students the opportunity experience vocational education.
Students have been participating in Boat Building at Ultimo Tafe, Plumbing at Hornsby Tafe and Hospitality at Northern Beaches Tafe.
Cromer Campus has joined the Educational Pathways Program which includes the Start Your Future initiative at Northern Beaches Tafe. Next term our students will be participating in Real Estate, Electrotechnology, Hospitality and Early Childhood Courses.
Careers enquiries should be directed to Ms Bird on (02) 9981 1155.
In week 10, Year 11 students and their parents participated in Career Interviews to discuss things such as:
How they are progressing so far
Homework/Study habits/Preparation
Wellbeing (how they are coping)
Goals set for beyond school
These valuable interviews help students plan for post school pathways and to assist with answering any questions or concerns students may have.
What do students do in Careers classes?
All students in Years 9 and 10 participate in Careers classes once a fortnight.
Year 9 students have been investigating jobs and occupations and what employers are looking for from young people entering the workplace.
Year 10 students have been investigating their options after completing Year 10.
Students can participate in Work Experience from Year 9. All Year 10 students participate in a two week block of work experience at the end of the year. In order for work experience to be approved the Student Placement Record must be completed and returned to Fiona Bird.
Students need a Unique Student Identifier number (USI) to participate in courses delivered by Registered Training Courses. This includes courses such as White Card, First Aid and all TAFE Courses. The USI number can be created at www.usi.gov.au
The Student Representative Council (SRC) is a body of students from across the school. We help to shape our school, play an active role in the decision making process, and have an important place in the runnings of day-to-day activities at Cromer.
A core part of the SRC are our meetings that happen on Tuesday Week B, where we discuss our plans and turn them into actions. The SRC is broken up into various groups, each of which have their own initiatives, roles, and objectives. These groups span from the management of social media, promoting inclusivity and diversity in our school, and facilitation of assemblies, assisting with raising and lowering of the flags, and ensuring the smooth running of the canteen.
We have 2 fantastic SRC Coordinators, Mr Brady and Mr Harrison, who co-share the role. They are both situated in the HSIE Faculty, and love all things history and geography. They bring great enthusiasm to the SRC, promoting a supportive environment empowering everyone to do their very best.
Being a member of the SRC starts with attending our fortnightly meetings, however what you decide to contribute is up to you. There are many avenues you can take to contribute to our school, so there's lots of options. We cannot wait for this year's cohort of year 7's to join, and get involved.
What do you want to see in our school? Do you have any feedback? We want to hear student ideas and suggestions!
