CROMER COURIER
2025 started with Library Lovers Week and the return of the popular ‘Blind Date with a Book’! Students were able to select a book, cover unseen, to borrow and read. Many students were brave enough to take a blind date with a book, with the students discovering new favourite series, genres and authors.
We continue to update our selection of books for students and staff. This year our focus is updating our non fiction with new and engaging titles as well as continuing to provide fantastic fiction choices for students. We have also been updating the range of study skills books for Stage 6 students to aid in their study and preparation for exams.

We have an amazing new 'Welcome to THE HUB' sign as a gift from Year 12 2024. It was installed on the outside Library wall mid Term 1 and it looks amazing!
What a bright and colourful way to welcome students, staff and visitors to the Hub and a lovely legacy from the previous Year 12 co-hort!
A huge thank you to all students who returned their books as part of our book amnesty in Week 10 and 11! We love when books are returned so we can ensure our collection is accounted for and available for all students to borrow and enjoy. You can return your books at any time via the book into the returns chute at the library desk.
Our upcoming stars of Senior Drama went into the city to see the best of the HSC drama 2024. In February, our Year 11 Earth and Environmental students embarked on a journey around Long Reef Headland. Students collected soil and sand samples to analyse back at school. They also observed manygeological features such as a graben, dyke, and other folding structures. They are now compiling all their information into a written report.

They also gained valuable insights from industry professionals and left feeling inspired and motivated with extra knowledge and passion - ready to take on their HSC year with fresh ideas and determination!
Year 11 Advanced English had a great experience at the Othello Symposium at the Seymour Centre! A fantastic blend of performance and expert analysis, the event offered deep insights into Shakespeare’s tragedy. With guidance from skilled directors and actors, our students explored the complexities of the play and gained a rich understanding of its themes and characters.
In week 10, our Year 7 Languages students took part in an incursion that brought Chinese history and culture to life. The morning began with a captivating Chinese music ensemble performance, followed by a presentation exploring traditional Hanfu attire and classical instruments from the Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties.
Students then rotated through hands-on experiences, trying on traditional Hanfu, experimenting with musical instruments like the pipa, erhu, and dizi, and participating in a craft activity inspired by Chinese culture. The incursion was a vibrant celebration of language, music, fashion, and creativity, and a memorable way to deepen students’ understanding of Chinese heritage.
A huge day of gallery hopping for our Year 11 & 12 Visual Art students, starting the day off at Manly Art Gallery where we viewed “Out Front” 2025, a selection of 23 HSC artworks from the Northern Beaches Secondary high schools, including the outstanding artwork of our very own 2024 graduating student Gemma Muir.
We then hopped aboard the ferry and made our way to the Art Gallery of NSW where we were treated to a complimentary viewing of Cao Fei’s interactive exhibition “My city is yours” before ending the day with a visit to see Art Express 2025.

Homework Society (formerly Homework Club), has been tremendously well attended by students from all years. The largest group so far has been our new senior students from Year 11, with numerous students meeting to study, to discuss, and yes, to complete their homework. I have been so impressed with the collaboration, the support, and friendship that these students have displayed during these afternoons at Homework Society. It has been my absolute pleasure to observe the diligence and dedication of these students to their studies. But perhaps more impressive is just how many of our new Year 7 students are regularly attending Homework Society to complete their homework, work on their assignments, or just simply support their friends. It has been wonderfully heartening to watch how well the Year 7 students interact with the senior students, a real sense of community. It’s not just students who attend but teachers as well, who frequently give up their afternoons to provide extra assistance to their students outside of regular school hours. Mr Markovina - Coordinator
All students and teachers are welcome to join - every Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon from 3:15 to 4:15pm in the Library.
