CROMER COURIER
What a superb term for Cromer Campus! How proud am I, and I hope you share that pride with me.
This term Cromer Campus has once again been a celebration of learning, creativity, and community.
I always look forward to the Integrated Studies Night of Celebration and this year was an absolute cracker! The circus theme was superb and showcased the talents of our students and our extra special teachers. It really was a very special occasion.
We welcomed our new prefect body who have embarked on their journey of leading the student body for 2026. I congratulate Captains Andi L and Issac P, Vice Captains Poppy L and Zoe S, and prefects Olivia B, Candice D, Evie E, Yoonie N and Lily-Marie T and look forward to working with them for the next year.
Our QuadFest once again was enjoyed by the whole school, with market stalls, activities and not to mention the sensational art and music performances... with another unforgettable 'Band 6' performance of 'Never Tear us Apart' featuring Mr Janssen on vocals, Mr Mirza's awesome guitar solo and yours truly on drums.
The talents of our Year 10 artists were showcased in our Cromer ARCHIE exhibition. The quality of the artworks was nothing short of incredible and was recognised by the many visitors who attended the professional exhibition at the Northern Beaches Gallery.
This last week of term has been an especially busy one too! our amazing Haka Warriors performed traditional Māori, Tongan and Samoan songs and dances on stage alongside 14 other schools at Sydney Olympic Park. They represented themselves, their families, culture, ancestors and our college with pride. They even made it onto Channel 7 and 9 News! Congratulations to Fe'ofa'aki and Zion who received PCYC Student Leadership awards from the program.
The Cromsonian Museum opened for two special exhibitions of incredibly designed and crafted artifacts. This annual event brings history to life and has quickly become a highlight of the school calendar - and this year’s exhibition was nothing short of brilliant. This year’s event proved once again that Cromer Campus students are capable of achieving amazing things when given the opportunity to showcase their talents.
We have received an amazing 13 nominations for HSC showcase events. How amazing is that? Hamish R, Gideon V and Orlando V. were nominated for the Industrial Technology SHAPE exhibition. An ENCORE nomination was received for Carmen K for her music performance, and CALLBACK nominations for dance performances for Isla H, Toby M, Lily T, Meisha E, Eva G and Abi G.
Year 12 have celebrated their last week with some final lessons, dress up days and melancholy memories and traditions - including at the traditional 'clapout' through the Quad. On Friday 26th September, we farewelled our Year 12 cohort at a very special Graduation Ceremony. Our fabulous graduating students are an acknowledgement of some great teaching and a supportive learning environment that has allowed their learning, skill development and passion to thrive. We wish them all the best as they start the next chapter in their lives and every success in the future! You can read my Yr 12 Graduation speech here.
On a completely different topic, we have been reviewing how Artificial Intelligence (AI) influences the way we live, learn, and work. As a school, we are committed to supporting the responsible and ethical use of AI, in line with NSW Department of Education policies, while ensuring our students are prepared for a future in which these tools will play an increasing role. I have shared insights from our recent parent and teacher surveys and outline how we plan to guide our students in using AI effectively and responsibly. Read my summary report here.
I wish you and your family a safe holiday break!
