To ensure that the teams for the innovation tournament were composed of students with a genuine interest in waste management issues, a criteria-based selection process was conducted. Prior to circulating the Google Form, students were provided with information about the project, and written consent from their parents was obtained. The selection criteria encompassed students' interest in waste management issues and their availability to actively participate in the tournament. The applications were thoroughly reviewed by the selection committee, who carefully assessed each one to identify the most suitable teams. Each team consisted of five members, and a maximum of eight teams were formed for the tournament. The intention was to create cohesive and motivated teams capable of working together harmoniously to achieve the project's objectives. The following eight teams out of 15 were selected based on their proposal. The teams are reflected below in alphabetical order:
