Under the adept guidance of Literary Coordinator Mr. Chhewang Tobay, an exhilarating inter-class English Drama competition unfolded for Class VIII students. Six sections showcased their theatrical finesse with captivating performances: 8A: Edge of Reality, 8B: Acho Dago (1st Position), 8C: Romeo and Juliet, 8D: King Lear" (2nd Position), 8E: Cinderella, 8F: "Macbeth. The competition not only brought forth impressive storytelling but also showcased the students' artistic flair. Congratulations to 8B for securing the 1st position, followed by 8D in 2nd place and 8A in 3rd place.

Reading Week was celebrated from September 14 to 20. During this week, students had the opportunity to showcase their talents and skills on various platforms. Some of the activities conducted included: 1) Letter exchange between the upper and lower campus, 2) Tsangmo competition for class VI, 3) English Poetry Recitation, 4) Author study poster exhibition, 5) Character dress-up day, 6) Dzongkha choral reading, 7) English debate.
It was a week filled with engaging events and opportunities for our students to shine.

The Literary Committee, under the leadership of Mr. Chhewang Tobgay, organized an English Debate competition on the topic, "Should Culture and Tradition Remain Static?" Two participants, one girl and one boy, from each of the four sections of class VII took part in this event. The debate, which lasted for nearly two hours, was moderated by Mr. Mani Wangdi. All students from classes VII and VIII attended the program. The chosen debate format was Cross-examination. In the end, the Affirmative team emerged victorious with 147.3 points, while the Negative team scored 136.8 points. The Affirmative team argued that culture and tradition must evolve, while the Negative team argued that culture and tradition should remain static. READ MORE>>

The State Mining Corporation Limited (SMCL) generously donated a heavy-duty printing machine to the school. Schools nationwide often encounter a critical shortage of heavy-duty printing machines, especially when it comes to printing term examination papers. Samtse LSS, which has over 1,100 students, faced a severe shortage of a printing machine and had to print the term examination papers at the SMCL office not just once, but three times. The SMCL management was kind enough to provide free printing services and technical assistance during the printing of the question papers. The school remains deeply grateful for this selfless act.

The Autumn Quarterly Test, which took place from September 5 to September 12, aimed to assess the academic progress of our students and evaluate the effectiveness of our teaching methods. The primary purpose of the Autumn Quarterly Test was to conduct a comprehensive academic check-up to ensure that the learning and teaching processes were on track and meeting the expected standards. It served as an important tool for monitoring the educational health of our school. The Exam Committee's dedication and planning ensured the smooth and successful administration of the assessment.

The Samtse LSS family came together to celebrate the birth of a newborn Princess. Lopen Khenpo led a special gathering at the prayer hall, where butter lamps were lit, and prayers were offered for the Princess's well-being. A delightful cake-cutting ceremony followed, symbolizing the family's love and best wishes for the Princess. The event beautifully combined solemn moments of prayer and joyous cake-cutting, showcasing the unity and happiness within the Samtse LSS family as they warmly welcomed the new addition. Additionally, the day featured festivities for students and staff, including traditional games, cultural performances, and refreshments, making it a memorable and joyous celebration.

Director General of Ministry of Education and Skills Development, Dasho Karma Galay, received a warm welcome with a traditional "Marchhang" ceremony during his visit to Samtse LSS. The school principal provided an overview of the school. During the visit, he discussed promising teacher reform initiatives, sparking optimism. The school staff engaged in a fruitful dialogue, seeking clarity on policy matters and addressing concerns, emphasizing the Ministry's commitment to inclusive collaboration and educational progress.

The U-16 "B" team achieved a remarkable victory in the cricket tournament organized by the Bhutan Cricket Council. The semi-final clash between Samtse LSS Team A and B was a nail-biting encounter, with Team B emerging as the triumphant side. The final showdown was equally intense as Samtse LSS Team B faced off against Norbugang PS. In a closely fought battle, Samtse LSS Team B showcased their skills and determination, ultimately prevailing with a margin of 8 runs. Their stellar performance throughout the tournament demonstrated teamwork, and sportsmanship, making them deserving champions in this thrilling cricket competition.
