Samtse LSS celebrated World Menstrual Day by hosting health officials from Samtse Hospital. The officials conducted an informative session to raise awareness among male students about the significance of supporting their female peers during menstruation. Additionally, they debunked prevalent myths surrounding menstruation, challenging the societal taboos associated with it. The event aimed to promote a more inclusive and understanding environment, breaking barriers and fostering empathy towards menstrual health and hygiene.

In response to the critical importance of fostering relationships among students in today's volatile world, schools can take a proactive approach by implementing mentor-mentee programs. A good handwriting is part of a good education. Handwriting skills are essential for children as they learn the correct formation of letters. In recognition of this, the Dzongkha literary program coordinators collaborated with the English literary program coordinators to conduct a Dzongkha handwriting competition. Emphasizing the importance of neat penmanship, the principal awarded appreciation certificates to the winners, encouraging the development of this crucial skill among the students.

Dedicated class teachers worked tirelessly to prepare the students for the final day, while supportive parents actively assisted them in creating impressive props. These events foster a strong bond between parents and the school, strengthening the overall connection between home and education.

Recognizing the vital role of leadership skills in children's holistic development, Samtse LSS proactively nurtures young leaders. Today, the principal awarded badges to the Lower Primary Block (PP-IV) prefects, further empowering them. Each morning assembly features two students, one speaking in Dzongkha, the national language, and the other in English, the medium of instruction. This inclusive approach ensures diverse language representation and encourages proficiency in both languages.

Prefects in schools serve as vital bridges between the student body and school staff, playing a crucial role in maintaining effective communication. After a successful prefect election and orientation process, Samtse LSS proudly awarded badges to its newly appointed prefects. These badges symbolize their responsibility and authority, showcasing their commitment to upholding discipline, assisting fellow students, and contributing to the overall welfare of the school community. Samtse LSS recently conducted a Scouts Investiture Ceremony, welcoming Class PP students into the Scouts program. This event also included students who had not been part of the Scouts previously due to different circumstances. As a tradition, Samtse LSS celebrates Scouts Day every Thursday, providing students with training in essential life skills. The program was graced by the Officiating Chief District Education Officer.

The school holds morning assemblies three times a week, specifically on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On the remaining days, zero periods are dedicated to reading programs. On Thursdays, which are designated as Scouts Day, students participate in flag hoisting ceremonies for both the National Flag and the Scouts flag, accompanied by Scouts salutes. The singing of Zhabten, Scouts anthem, and the National anthem further enrich the occasion.

Shreya Mongar and Gyelzin Nyingsel from 8F were acknowledged by the principal for their remarkable emcee abilities at the Nursery Rhyme singing competition, involving students from Pre-Primary to Grade III. In addition to receiving certificates of appreciation for their exceptional performance, the duo displayed thorough preparedness and ensured all essential emcee responsibilities were taken care of during the significant event.

The school held its annual Rimdro with the aim of promoting the wellbeing of all sentient beings and purifying any defilements in the environment. The Rimdro involved prayers and offerings to deities and spirits, seeking their blessings and protection. The ceremony was attended by students, staff, and members of the local community. The Rimdro is part of the school's tradition and reflects its commitment to nurturing the spiritual and cultural values of its community.

A Rhyme Singing Competition was held for students from class PP to II. It aimed at providing a platform for students to showcase their talents and connect their classroom learning to real-life experiences. The event brought all the parents together in preparing props and arranging them on the final day. It was a memorable event that allowed students to hone their skills and parents to participate in their child's education.

On May 2nd, Bhutan celebrated National Teacher's Day and the birthday of their third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. The occasion was a tribute to teachers from past, present, and future generations, and was celebrated throughout the country. Samtse LSS organized a grand event in honor of this day, with the student body taking charge of the coordination. The event was a fitting tribute to the contributions of teachers in shaping the future of Bhutan, and recognized their important role in the nation's development.
