Frequently Asked Questions

Who can proctor the TSI for students?

Any staff member can proctor the TSIA2 as long as they have an Accuplacer account assigned to an appropriate campus and have completed the Certification Test in Accuplacer.  Regional Counselors serving your campus can also proctor the TSIA2.


How can I get access to Accuplacer?

Contact Jared Olivarez (jolivarez@responsiveed.com) to request an account for yourself or a team member.  Your type of account will be created based on the type of access you need.  Please specify what kind of account you want created when requesting.

Proctor - this type of account is for team members who will only have the ability to test students.
Proctor Reporter - this type of account is for team members who will only have the ability to test students, add new students and pull score reports.
Site Manager - this type of account is for team members who will only have the ability to create new staff accounts, add new students and pull reports.  This role cannot proctor the test to students.

Where can I find student's TSI scores?

TSI scores can be viewed in Accuplacer for anyone with accounts as a Proctor Reporter or Site Manager.  For urgent needs, please contact your Regional Counselor or Jared Olivarez (jolivarez@responsiveed.com)

How do I sign a student up to take the TSI?

Students can schedule free TSI testing with a Regional Counselor or with another certified staff proctor.  Students and staff can see the general sign up process here.

Are students exempt from taking the TSIA2?

Yes the student are exempt from the TSIA2 ELAR or Math section if the student has received mastery level scores on similar sections of the SAT, ACT, or EOC.

SAT Exempt Scores

A minimum score of 480 on the Evidenced-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) will exempt a student from both the TSI reading and writing requirements; a minimum score of 530 on the mathematics test will exempt a student from the TSI mathematics requirements.

ACT Exempt Scores

A composite score of 23 with a minimum of 19 on the English test (will satisfy both reading and writing TSI requirements) and/or the mathematics test shall be exempt from those corresponding sections

EOC Exempt Scores

4000+ (Level II) on the *English III (3) (will satisfy both reading and writing TSI requirement)

4000+ (Level II) on the *Algebra II (2) (will satisfy the math TSI requirement)
