Assessment Resources

"Whenever you can, count." -Sir Francis Galton

Here you will find a brief description of all the various standardized tests we conduct at ResponsiveEd along with associated resources that may aid you in their administration.

It must be noted that since some testing materials are proprietary, or cannot be disseminated for legal reasons, access to some resources will be restricted pending corporate administrator approval.

2021-2022 District Testing Calendar

The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) are mandated standardized tests used within the state to assess how much a grade-school student knows of what is expected for their grade-level.

The End of Course (EoC) evaluation is used to similar to the STAAR, but is used at the high-school once a student has completed a course.

Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS)

TELPAS is designed to assess the progress that limited English proficient (LEP) students, also referred to as English learners (ELs), make in learning the English language.

The Benchmark is a pencil-and-paper test made from questions coming from the previous year’s STAAR exam. It is currently the best predictor we have of passing the STAAR.

MAP is a test designed to measure what students are prepared to learn. MAP is a very good tool for measuring student growth over time, and measures similar content areas to the STAAR. It is important to keep in mind MAP is intended to be short, and optimally challenging. This means students may encounter questions above (sometimes far above) grade level.

This is a program which allows students to earn credit by taking an examination instead of completing a traditional class. It is only allowed for students who have not previously taken a course in the area.

This program is similar to Credit By Examination, except it is intended for students who have previously enrolled in a class, completed some coursework, but ultimately received an Incomplete grade.
