What is the Dual Credit Program?
The Dual Credit Program allows high school students the opportunity to enroll in college-level courses and to earn high school as well as college credit for the completed coursework. The program provides a continuum of learning from high school to college for those students who choose to pursue a post-secondary degree or certificate after high school graduation. This continuum will increase opportunities for students to progress through their programs of study at an accelerated pace.
What are the advantages of taking a dual credit course?
The Dual Credit Program allows students to shorten the time required to complete an undergraduate degree. It also eliminates the duplication of courses taken in high school and in college. The advanced curriculum provides a background for students that will sharpen their academic preparedness for college. At the same time, the program expands the options available for college-bound students.
What are the expectations for students who participate in dual credit?
Work independently
Commit to reading, research, and hard work
Demonstrate above average ability in oral and written expression
Deal with sophisticated concepts maturely
Think critically and creatively
Respond positively to challenging situations Prioritize activities and set personal deadlines
Manage study time and complete assignments
Deal personally and directly with the instructor to discuss problems and questions
Dual Credit Terms to Know
Dual Credit Partnership
Dual credit partnership (MOU) must be established between the governing boards of the college and the high school/district PRIOR to offering courses.

Core Curriculum & Foreign Language
Approved workforce courses
No developmental education or remedial courses allowed
Approved Dual Credit Crosswalk
Yearly, the campus submit review their campus dual credit crosswalk to ensure that the college course offerings align with current high school course equivalent TEKS. The crosswalk must also be published/ accessible for parents and students.
What are the eligibility requirements for Dual Credit?
Must be completing approved unit pace on campus (taking and passing two tests every week).
Must be maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA in current Premier HS coursework.
Must be maintaining a minimum 90% attendance on campus the semester proceeding DUAL CREDIT enrollment.
After meeting the above eligibility requirements, the student must be deemed "college-ready".

Texas Success Initiative (TSIA2)
TSIA2 Exemptions (ACT, SAT, or EOC) scores in similar sections
