Europe’s most active volcano in Sicily, Italy came to life on Feb 27th, 2022. According to Dogo News, it erupted at around 6:00pm. Fortunately the lava or ash from the volcano did not cause any damage to the nearby towns. The cause for Mount Etna’s violent outburst is trapped gas bubbles escaping through the lava that can sometimes reach the height of about several hundred meters. In 1992 Mount Etna’s lava flow was heading directly towards the city of Zafferana Etnea. Fortunately, Massive concrete blocks dropped in front of the lava steam and slowed down its progress. This gave the residents time to dig an alternate channel to divert the stream away from the city.
How Pi Day Became America's Biggest Math Holiday
According to Dogo News, there is a holiday based on a math constant. This math constant is called pi. Pi Day is celebrated every March 14th and 15th. Pi was created by Larry Shaw. On Mar 14, 1988, he asked colleagues to join him in a parade around the museum's pi shrine, which is a metal disk carved with the first 100 digits of pi and eat fruit pies. Since the group had such a good time, the museum officials turned Pi Day into an annual celebration. Also, on March 14, it was Albert Einstein’s birthday ,which includes Einstein look-alike contests. This means you have to dress up and look like Albert Einstein. The one with the best costume wins.
The World's First Space Hotel
According to Dogo News on Oct 25, 2021, scientists have announced that they are creating a space hotel. They said they're going to start building it in 2026 and finish in 2027. When everything goes according to plan, they will send people to space. There will be 120 scientists and 280 visitors on board. The hotel will move at incredible speeds to create artificial gravity. There are cinemas, restaurants, rock climbing, a game room, no-gravity basketball, space walks, and so much more. Scientists don’t know if people will still be able to do the same things on earth in space, but they should have a blast trying out fun activities in space!
An Exoplanet That Orbits Three Stars!
According to Dogo News, on Nov 15, 2021, scientists discovered an exoplanet orbiting 3 stars. This is the first time scientists found a planet orbiting 3 stars using their most powerful telescope. They saw the planet’s rings were unaligned, and they said it’s like that because it’s a gas planet. The 2 stars orbiting each other, while the 3rd star orbited both of them. Scientists said it’s unbelievable that the planet is able to orbit the massive gravitational pull of the 3 stars. They said on the planet that you wouldn’t be able to see three suns because the first and second stars will look like one and the third star will orbit the two stars, which will still make it look like there is one sun.

Heinz Unveils "Marz Edition" Ketchup For Space Pioneers
According to Time For Kids, on Nov 9, 2021, Heinz unveiled its Mars edition ketchup. They thought that since their ketchup has been dominating for 150 years, astronauts should be able to eat this tasty condiment in space. Scientists have been experimenting with Mars like soil on earth, temperatures, and more. They wanted to see if they could grow tomatoes with less ideal soil. Soon, they were able to grow tomatoes with the same conditions as Mars. This would mean that in the future, if people were to ever live on Mars, they could grow tomatoes and other crops, making their own ketchup there!
