Pollution Problems
By: Fatima K.
Earth is full of many wonderful things like trees, plants, and animals, but sometimes we don’t realize that we are poisoning the earth. People throw trash in the oceans and on roads and it not only hurts the animals, but it makes the air dirty and we breathe that air. When people throw trash into the ocean, it hurts the fish and especially turtles. They choke on the trash then they die. According to weforum, 4,600 sea turtles die each year just because of pollution.
You also may have heard of something called global warming. Global warming is mostly due to cars and factories. If you have seen a factory, you may have seen the smoke emerging from one of those long pipes. The smoke goes really high up into the sky near the sun. Then the smoke absorbs the sun’s heat then spreads the heat to the entire world.
Lots of ice in the Arctic has melted because of global warming and animals such as seals. Walruses also use that ice to travel to different places, they also use that ice as their homes. According to weforum, we have lost 28 trillion tons of ice just because of global warming. If you can take a bike instead of a car, that would be great because the gas that comes out of the car also causes warming.
In conclusion, we should be responsible for our trash and put it in trash cans. We should also pick up any trash we see on the ground. If we don’t see any trash cans nearby then hold on to it until you see one.
Eating healthy food might be very disgusting, for those who hate fruits and vegetables, but I think it is the right choice to do. Parents might say healthy food is good for health” and you might ignore your parents, but here is why you shouldn’t.
Your organs and your bones contain nutrients that you get from eating healthy food. One important nutrient for the bones in your body is calcium. Calcium is what makes your bones strong. Without eating calcium-rich foods, your bones will experience calcium deficiencies and a harmful disease called bone disease osteoporosis. Osteoporosis happens when you consume an insufficient amount of calcium per day. To avoid Osteoporosis, you have to eat the minimum amount of calcium. Calcium can be found in eggs, milk, cheese, meats, and fish.
Calcium is not the only nutrient that is important. One of the most important types of minerals is Vitamin A. Vitamin A plays an important role in your immune systems, eyes, and your teeth. If you don’t eat foods that have lots of Vitamin A, then your eyesight will weaken, beginning to blur, and your immune system will not be able to function properly. Your immune system will be more vulnerable to infections and viruses like the flu and Covid-19."
In conclusion, eating healthy food is good for your health and is important for your body. If you don’t eat them, your bones and your muscles, like your eyes, will weaken. You might begin seeing symptoms of osteoporosis and other maladies. After that, your condition might become fatal. That’s why you should listen to your parents and eat healthy food!
As you know we are suffering from a virus called Covid-19 which started in late 2019. To protect ourselves we must wash our hands, practice social distancing, and wear masks. Without doing this, 2020 could become a lot more catastrophic.
First of all, washing our hands and sanitizing them plays an important role in keeping ourselves safe. Say if you were playing outside and you fell down. You look at your hands and they’re dirty. If your hands are full of dirt, you’re basically touching germs. So when your hands are full of germs and you want to eat something; the germs can get inside you and possibly make you sick or even get COVID-19. This is why we need to wash our hands. Also, according to the article Show Me The Science, it says “Germs can also get onto hands if people touch any object that has germs on it because someone coughed or sneezed on it or was touched by some other contaminated object.”
Secondly, social distancing is basically staying 6 feet away from each other. This also helps us by making sure someone else does not sneeze on you, cough on you, or even breath on you because they may have germs and you don’t want them to pass to you. If you can’t measure 6 feet exactly, just think two or three of your arm lengths, depending on how old you are, between everyone. According to the site www.cdc.gov, it says “COVID-19 spreads mainly among people who are in close contact (within about 6 feet) for a prolonged period. Spread happens when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks, and droplets from their mouth or nose are launched into the air and land in the mouths or noses of people nearby.”
Lastly, on top of social distancing, masks should be worn when you are among others in a public area. The masks help because when people sneeze the germs may disperse further than 6 feet. If you aren’t wearing a mask the germ will come straight on to you instead of being blocked by the fabric of the mask. Statistics show that in places in which people wear masks more often, coronavirus has had less devastating effects in that area.
To ensure that you can protect yourself from coronavirus, you must wash your hands, practice social distancing, and wear a mask. Stay safe and stay healthy so you can have fun!!!
Well sort of, Covid-19 is rising. During the summer holidays, Covid-19 was decreasing. However, now that the cold season is back, Covid-19 is rising just a tad bit more. This is because viruses can’t stand heat. So as long as we are in heat, there are less chances of getting the Covid-19.
According to Fox KTVU, coronavirus was named coronavirus, because corona means "crown" in Latin. Since the coronavirus sort of looks like it has a crown. The "CO" stands for corona, "VI" for viruses, and "D" disease. The 19 is for 2019, the year the disease first appeared in China. But now that coronavirus is rising, does this mean that we will not go to school for a million more years?! Because coronavirus is rising, I guess it is a bit more dangerous to go anywhere, but, as long as we are taking precautionary measures, everything should be fine.
According to Worldometer, there are 52,309,504 cases happening in the world right now. Wow! That is a lot! It takes longer to get more views on a YouTube channel than spreading the virus!
Here is a question, how does the virus spread? An entire community can become infected if just one wrong person is there. So, it is not only the seasons that make a difference, it is also being safe. When you go anywhere, it is important to wear a mask. Wearing a mask won’t protect you from coronavirus, but it will protect others. If we all wear a mask, then we all can be safe!
However, wearing a mask can be a little uncomfortable if you are wearing it for long hours. So, as the hybrid is opening up, it is not only the virus problem, it is also the mask problem. If you are wearing a mask, you don’t get as much oxygen as necessary to breathe, making it unhealthy to wear it. Now, I know you guys might be thinking, “first she’s telling us to wear a mask, now she wants us to avoid it. What is she saying?”
Well, what I am trying to say is that you should balance between those two options. Don’t go out so often that you are wearing a mask every hour of the day. Also, don’t isolate yourself so much that it feels like you are in prison. Try to find a happy medium between the two.
