Hilarious Jokes and Riddles, FOR KIDS!!!

Lights, Camera, Action

By: Sarayu B.

Buy some popcorn and have a seat in the huge theater in front of the screen! Everyone knows how it’s like to buy some tickets and watch a good movie in the theater with your family. But that changed in 2020. No more do we go out and watch movies in the theater. Instead, we lounge on the couch eating homemade popcorn, watching a movie on your own TV in your own house.

COVID-19 has delayed many movies coming, and caused an impact on movies in the middle of making. Some directors had to get creative to find ways to finish their movie this year while being aware of social distancing and wearing masks. The new SpongeBob movie Sponge on the Run had an especially unique way of filming. Although the staff was fortunate enough to be able to work remotely, the process wasn’t easy.

First of all, the Sponge on the Run crew had to find a way to record the music. This was tough since generally musicians and performers all come together to form a beautiful piece of music. But that was obviously not going to work this year, so they would have to work it out remotely. Their plan was to send each musician separately into a studio. One by one, the musicians made their way (with a mask on, of course) into the recording studio closest to their home and played just their part of the score. Eventually, every musician and performer had their part of the song recorded, and sound engineers put it all together, creating one song.

According to Variety.com, every day before movie crews start working, they check the cast and staff’s temperature to be safe. If the number of cases increased, it “could soon halt filming in places like London and Georgia,” Variety.com said. While they filmed a new Jurassic Park movie, a lot of it was made remotely, and they used a lot of special effects.

Filming virtually is easier said than done. Before the pandemic, sets

were made, cameras were shooting, and actors were acting. Now, the process is a lot more sophisticated. The actors can’t get together to act scenes, make-up artists can’t get together to fix up someone’s face, and camera men can’t get together to film. A lot of movie crews all over the world all found ways to film during the pandemic, and many crews have decided to take a break from filming, and take advantage of quarantine and are staying home.

So, when you think about it, for us, nothing has changed much. We still watch movies at home, and it doesn’t feel like there’s been a difference. But for movie crews and staff, a lot of the process has changed. They had to adapt, and do most of the whole process in a different way, but of course, they don’t give up, They work their best to make a movie worth watching.

Top 5 Things To Do When You're Bored

By: Anika S.

Are you bored being stuck at home in this pandemic? Are you crying because you feel like you have nothing to do??? Well my friend, your dream has come true! I have made a list of things you can do when you're bored! What?! I know that's awesome! Now… let the entertainment arise!

  • Have an older sibling? Then the sibling wars arise! Prank your Sibling! You could do the bottle prank all you need is: A few plastic water bottles, (You could put water in there ONLY IF YOUR PARENTS ALLOW YOU TO!) a door, and a big stable chair.

    • Directions: Put the water bottles on top of the door, leaving it open so you could slip out easily. You could ask an adult to be safe. Go out of the door and try not to make the water bottles fall. Now, comes the final step: watch your sibling get pranked! Here is what happened when I did it: I filled the water bottle with crayons, and I took off the lid. When I finished, it looked like it was raining crayons on my sibling!

  • Make origami (Use this link to see how to make a origami bookmark add-on)

  • Read a book

  • Draw something: some websites you could use if you want to make a online drawing are Silk, Sketchpad, or Drawspace.

  • Play water pop. Below are two ways to play:

    1. You need a sandwich bag, warm water and pencils. Fill the sandwich bag with warm water, then keep on sticking pencils in it until it pops!

    2. You could do the same thing with water balloons, but it probably will pop right away. Make sure to do this in your sink!

Guess what? Now you are an expert at not getting bored! Who knows? Maybe if you are creative enough, you could combine them and make… a new thing to do!! That’s right, you can! Maybe some of these will influence you to make different things. You can do anything!

Spending The Holidays In The Pandemic

By: Nandini A.

Normally, spending the holidays was when everyone got to go on trips and visit family members. This would have been the case if it weren’t for the Corona-virus. The corona-virus outbreak in China has caused a worldwide disease. Now, everyone should be staying home and not venturing out as much as they used to. Staying home used to be kind of like a vacation, but now since it is a daily thing- It is pretty boring and frustrating. But spending the holidays at home- That is even worse!! But what happened to the phrase ‘Home, sweet home’? Well we are staying at home all the time, so it is not the same anymore. The holidays were all about spending time together, but now… it has changed. We can’t go out and meet anyone or go close to anyone. Does this mean Santa won’t be coming this year? Does this mean that we won’t have any presents under the tree on Christmas morning? Does this mean that we won’t have a party for the New Year?

Besides going on trips, you can do fun stuff at home, too. Some ideas are that you can bake cookies and cakes, you can do fun holiday crafts, you can enjoy a movie with candy canes and hot chocolate, and you can play in the snow!! That sounds like fun. Right?

There are plenty of fun activities to do at home for the holidays! According to CountryLiving, “You've probably spent weeks—okay, months—counting down the days until it became socially acceptable to do all those Christmas activities and winter activities you love so much: putting up your favorite wreath, shopping for fun gifts until you drop, making lots of holiday craft projects, and generally getting in the Christmas spirit in every way imaginable. Now that your favorite time of the year is finally here, don't squander it!” You can check the website for more information.

In conclusion, you don't need to go on fancy vacations or stay in luxurious hotels to celebrate the holidays… You can spend time with family, and that’s what makes the holidays special.

JOKE: Why are Christmas trees so bad at knitting?

“They drop all their needles!"
