At Canberra College, we are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. We ensure all students can access and participate in education on the same basis as their peers, with reasonable adjustments made to meet individual needs. We are dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusion, respect, and high expectations for every student. We work in partnership with students, families, and staff to ensure every learner is supported to succeed.
This program is designed for students who have previously been in a Small Group Program (Learning Support Centre or Unit) and require ongoing support.
Small group classes provide students with substantial adjustments to the curriculum to promote accessibility.
Each class has a classroom teacher and a Learning Support Assistant.
Classes combine Year 11 and 12 students to build community and peer support.
Focus on individual learning needs, practical literacy and numeracy, and personal development.
Students are encouraged to participate in whole-college activities and can enrol in mainstream classes if they choose.

Students can choose electives such as Art, Photography, Cooking, and Business.
Students may also select subjects from other faculties, with support and adjustments provided as needed.
We encourage students to take part in Work Experience and Australian School-based Apprenticeships (ASbAs).
This program provides one-to-one support outside regular classes, focusing on individual needs and adjustments for those students who qualify for ISP.
How does it work?
The Inclusion Support Year Coordinator works closely with students to plan and provide personalised support where appropriate
Supports are student-centred and designed to help each student achieve their best educational outcomes.
As the system transitions (from 2026), we will work with high schools and families to ensure students are placed in the most appropriate support program
All students in Learning or Inclusion Support Programs have an Individual Learning Plan (ILP), also known at Canberra College as a Learning Matrix (LM).
The LM identifies learning needs, adjustments, and supports, and may include transition planning for life after college.
Families, carers, and students are actively involved in ILP reviews and consultations.
Students in Learning Support Programs can choose their classes during transition visits, organised by their high schools.
Students in the Inclusion Support Program can select classes during college visits to their high schools or on specified college days.
The executive teacher is available to support students and families with subject selection and transition planning.
For more information or support, please contact the executive teacher, Tilly Wiles-Deane (tilly.wiles-deane@ed.act.edu.au), or visit our website.
