Athlete Development is an integrated study that focuses on specialised sports development for the individual. Students learn about the principles of high performance, self-awareness, and understanding their prowess in an individual sport. They learn and practice ways of maintaining elite performance. This course is for students who play and compete in sports outside of school and are looking to further develop their progress.
Students will explore time management, lifestyle balance, academic pursuits, training, work, and social interactions in the context of developing and maintaining elite athletic performance.
Students will explore personalising programs, individual and/or team development, nutrition, psychology, and recovery in the context of developing and maintaining elite athletic performance.
Students will explore issues in sport, drugs, and community expectations of athletes.
Students will explore technology in sport, injury management and prevention, biomechanics, tactics, game analysis and feedback in the context of developing and maintaining an elite athlete.
