A course in conversational and written Japanese for students with no previous study of the language. It aims to develop speaking and listening skills in Japanese required for basic conversation, travel, further study and enjoyment. The course aims to develop writing and reading skills by teaching the hiragana and katakana scripts and some kanji. Students will also gain an insight into aspects of Japanese culture and lifestyles.
A course for students who have studied the language to Year 10 or an equivalent. It incorporates core language work and literary and cultural studies at a more sophisticated level. The aim is to develop the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, with an emphasis on using spoken Japanese for everyday communication.
Designed for native speakers of Japanese or students who have spent a minimum of 12 months in a country where the language is spoken. It incorporates advanced language work, literary research and analysis and sustained use of Japanese in speaking as well as writing. This course is for self -motivated, self-directed students.
