Principal's Message

Greetings Southeast Middle Families,

It is with excitement and Cougar PRIDE that I, Shalonda Simoneaux, present to you this letter of introduction as the new principal of Southeast Middle School. I am honored to be succeeding the amazing Ms. Amber Boyd, who has spoken so highly of the student and parents of Southeast Middle. We wish her well as she embarks on the next phase of her journey serving at the district level, and we look forward to our continued partnership with Ms. Boyd as an important and valuable supporter of our school as we continue to build on the many accomplishments under her great leadership.

This school year begins my 27th year in education and East Baton Rouge Parish School System. Though I bring a wealth of experience and energy as your new principal, and I embrace the opportunity to continue my growth and learning as an educator as I lead the talented, knowledgeable, and innovative staff at Southeast Middle. As a former teacher and administrator at Broadmoor High, I’ve served many of the families in the community and look forward to familiarizing myself with the areas in our school zone that will be new to me. I have no doubt that with students and families like you, along with a team like Southeast Middle School Faculty & Staff, this school year will be one with many triumphs and victories.

I have moved into my office and look forward to meeting each of you at the upcoming orientation. Our office staff is available daily, so contact us with any questions, news, or ideas you want to share. I am beyond excited and humbled to be at such a great school and look forward to meeting everyone soon. I plan to get to work immediately to continue the legacy of great leadership and learning at this school. I hope each of you continue to enjoy your summer with family and friends and rejuvenate mind, body, and spirit. Thanks again for your continued commitment to Southeast Middle School and trusting us with your student’s education. We are so blessed to serve and looking forward to seeing all of our students back in the building. I have no doubt it will be a great year to be a Cougar!

With kindest regards,

Shalonda Simoneaux, Principal
