WE WILL CREATE INK DRAWINGS OF OUR HANDS HOLDING AN OBJECT OF OUR CHOICE.
WE WILL FOCUS MAINLY ON THE CONTOUR LINE, CALLIGRAPHIC LINE, AND IF YOU CHOOSE YOU MAY EXPLORE CREATING VALUE THROUGH HATCHING AND CROSS HATCHING.
You may use a ball point pen instead of an ink pen, paint brush, and india ink due to distance learning. If you are dying to use traditional india ink, communicate with me and I will make sure you have access to the right tools.

The use of thick to thin line to create dimension, add weight, and create emphasis (or focus) in art.
Using lines or stripes to create value. To create darker values you cross them to make them more dense.
I know this one is long, important time codes are at the bottom.
First: Take a photo of your hand holding an object. Print it out if you can. Be sure to consider balance, lighting, and maintaining a simple background.
Step 1: Draw a 4 quadrant grid on your photo and final paper. Time 1:35- 5:30
If you can't print it out the app Grid# can grid your image. If you don't have a phone, go to this website to grid your image: http://www.griddrawingtool.com/
Step 2: Begin drawing the contoured edges of your hand/ skull in the simplest quadrant. Remember you are ENLARGING your hand, you want it to be almost as large as your paper! Time: 5:30 - 9:00
Step 3: You will finish your drawing, remember to only draw when you are looking at your reference. Don’t draw when you are looking at your drawing, because then you are drawing from memory. Time 9:00-12:33
Step 4: You will ink your drawing using ink. It is wise to practice first on smaller test drawing.
Step 5: After your ink is dry, erase all pencil marks left on your work.
How to Ink your work, and applying calligraphic line, hatching, and cross hatching: Time: 12:33-18:00
How hard did you try? Were you committed and focused on doing your best? Did you use your time in class to make your best work, or were you off task? Can your effort be seen in your final work?
Is your drawing in proportion with the rest of itself. Did you also make it larger than the original photo?
Is your drawing neat and free of unnecessary lines?
Do your contour lines help give form to your drawing?
