Step 1: Pick an artwork from Art History.
Step 2: Begin sketching using your art historical image, skeleton, and pattern references. Use thumbnails to stretch your ideas and come up with new ones.
Step 3: Refine your drawing. Begin thinking about contour and calligraphic line.
Step 4: Ink your work, consider line thickness, hatching, cross hatching, and adding ink washes as values.
Step 5: Erase all of your pencil marks. (You will not be able to erase your pencil after applying wash or watercolor)
Step 6: Take a photo of your work using natural light, crop, and edit the image of your work.
I'm okay if you pick an artwork outside of the ones I'm providing, but please make sure it's a work of art that is well known, and not just something you found on instagram. If you are unsure, run it by me first.
