Using bullet points or a numbered list helps to break up your text to make some of your information stand out.
This works really well for lists.

Each list item is separated by a dot (or another symbol).
Type your list items, select them with your trackpad, then choose the icon with the dots beside horizontal lines.
You can choose alternatives to the dots by selecting the small arrow beside the bullet points symbol. This will open a box with other options you can select from (including stars).
Numbered lists

Each idea is ordered in numerical order.
Type your list items, select them with your trackpad, then choose the icon with the numbers beside horizontal lines. This will automatically place numbers beside the items in your list.
