As we head into the final week before spring break, our Lost & Found is overflowing! We will have all lost items moved to the vestibule (front entrance of the school) this week to make it easy for families to take a look. If your child has been missing a jacket, water bottle, lunchbox, or other item, please stop by and check for it. Any items not claimed before spring break will be donated. Thank you for helping reunite these items with their owners! 🧥🎒
Spring is almost here, and our school garden is slowly coming back to life! We are excited to begin another season of planting, exploring, and learning with our students. To get our garden fully ready, we are in need of a little extra help. We are in need of bags of garden soil to refill our beds and give our spring plants the best chance to grow healthy and strong.
We’ve added soil to our Amazon Wishlist to make donating easy. Soil is our highest priority, BUT we would appreciate anything off of our Amazon wishlist!
Additionally, if you have any connections to local landscaping companies, nurseries, or garden centers that might be willing to donate soil, compost, or mulch, we’d love to hear about it!
Every donation helps our students learn, grow, and enjoy the experience of caring for a living garden. Thank you for supporting our school garden, we appreciate you! Any questions or concerns, please email amanda.mack@dsisdtx.us.
Problem-solving is a skill that grows with practice. When your child faces a challenge, whether it’s homework, a disagreement with a sibling, or a tricky situation with friends, try guiding instead of giving the answer right away. Ask questions like, “What have you tried so far?” “What do you think might happen if…?” or “What could you do next?”
Giving children time to pause and think helps them build confidence in their own ideas. Even if their first solution doesn’t work, that’s okay! Talk about what they learned and what they might try differently next time. Praising their effort, creativity, and persistence, rather than focusing only on getting it right, encourages a growth mindset and resilience.
Over time, these small moments of guided thinking help children become more independent, capable problem-solvers both in and out of the classroom.
