We are excited to share that we will be hosting our first-ever Cypress Springs Elementary Jingle Jog on Thursday, December 11th during each grade level’s Essentials time. Our hope is to build this into an annual tradition that gets our students moving while also supporting our community.
Students are invited to bring a box of cereal as their entry fee, which will be donated to Helping Hands of Dripping Springs Food Bank. Families may choose to donate additional boxes if they wish, and parents who join their child for the run can donate $5 directly to the food bank through a QR code at the event.
This event is also part of the 5th grade’s community service project. Our fifth graders will be helping throughout the day by assisting with classes, encouraging younger students, and helping keep everything running smoothly.
Here’s what you need to know:
The Jingle Jog will take place during your child's regularly scheduled Essentials time.
Please be sure students are prepared to run outside! (sneakers, warm clothing, etc.)
The event will take place on the Bus Loop! Parents who choose to join will park, walk to the front to get a badge, and then walk to the bus loop to join the event. Families are welcome to run with their child.
If it is raining, parents will not be able to attend, as we will need to move the event inside and will not be able to accommodate families.
In order to attend, you must RSVP by Tuesday 12-9-25 at 10:00 am, so a badge can be printed!
When your child hits a snag with homework or another challenge, it can be tempting to jump in and fix it right away. But giving them space to think helps build independence and resilience. Try asking guiding questions like, “What have you tried so far?” or “What could you do next?” This encourages your child to slow down, reflect, and try a new strategy.
As they work through the problem, focus your praise on their effort, not just whether they got the answer right. Celebrate things like sticking with a tough task, trying a new approach, or showing patience. Phrases like, “I love how hard you worked on that,” or “You kept trying even when it was tricky. Great job!” help children understand that learning is about progress, persistence, and growth. Over time, this mindset boosts confidence and helps them tackle challenges with courage.
Join DSISD for a free "7 Habits of Highly Effective Families" workshop designed to help you build stronger, deeper connections with your family. This workshop is hosted by our very own DSISD staff and family members. Discover how the same 7 Habits principles that our students learn in school can be applied at home to help your family thrive. This engaging, self-discovery workshop will provide you with new skills and fresh perspectives.
