Our last week in August has been warm! We are ready to move into September for some cooler fall temperatures! It was nice having so many parents in the building Thursday evening for Parent Orientation! If you were unable to attend, our teachers will be sharing the information through email as well.
*****Monday, September 1, is a student and staff holiday. All schools and district office will be closed. We hope you enjoy the three-day weekend!******
FAMILY COMMUNICATION: You already know what an amazing school we have and how fortunate we are to have the dedicated professionals we do in this building. We need to share that we’ve asked our staff to take care of themselves this year. This includes the grace of a 24-hour policy regarding communication. You can expect a response to your initial communication within 24 hours during the work week. Any (non-emergency) communication received over the weekend will be addressed the next school day. Emails received after 4:00 p.m. may not be responded to until the next day. Emails received during instructional time may not be responded to until grade-level conference time, after school, or the next day. We appreciate your support of our incredible teachers and staff!
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES: Please email same-day transportation changes to cses.receptionist@dsisdtx.us by 1:00 pm. If you know of changes to your student's transportation prior to the day of, or if it is a permanent change, please communicate these changes directly to your student's teacher.
The NWEA MAP Window for Elementary is Aug. 18th - Sept. 5th. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you want to know more details.
ATTENDANCE: Student attendance is CRITICAL for student success. Regular school attendance is essential, and absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s education. The student and parent should avoid unnecessary absences. Please do not send your student(s) to school sick. But please DO send your student(s) to school when they aren't sick. Use the school calendar as you plan your family's vacation time. Avoid pulling students out of school for vacation!
REMINDER THE LATE BELL IS NOW 7:40! Please try to have your students here before 7:40.
Please click HERE for more information on how to report an absence, the attendance office contact information, attendance times, and additional information.
Our critical funding time is 8:45am each day. That is the time of day that we take attendance for funding purposes. PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD IN SCHOOL AT 8:45am EVERY DAY!! Avoid appointments at that time.

Tigers don’t just say “fine” when asked about their day! Here are some fun questions you can use at home to help your child open up about school:
🐾 What was the best part of your day?
🐾 Who made you smile today?
🐾 What’s something new you learned?
🐾 Did you help someone, or did someone help you?
🐾 What’s one thing you’re excited about tomorrow?
🐾 Was there a part of the day that was tricky or hard?
🐾 What's a question you asked in class today?
🐾 Can you teach me something you learned?
🐾 What made you feel proud today?
🐾 What's one thing you're looking forward to tomorrow?
A simple switch from “How was your day?” to one of these Tiger Talk Starters can spark bigger conversations, help your child reflect on their learning, and keep you connected to their school journey here at Cypress Springs. Framing questions in a way that requires us to look for the positive in our day or otherwise also helps us to grow into positive thinkers!

Pre-K and Kindergarten students will visit the library every week.
1st–5th grade classes will come to the library every other week.
Book Checkout & Returns:
Students may check out books during their scheduled library time. (Pre-K through 1st grade: one book, 2nd-5th grade: two books)
All books are due two weeks after they are checked out.
If a book becomes overdue, families will receive a friendly reminder email.
Book Care Reminders:
Please help your child take care of their books by keeping them in a safe, dry place and returning them to school in good condition so others can enjoy them too.
