Helping your child choose books that are the right fit builds confidence and keeps reading fun. A good rule of thumb: if your child misses more than 5 words on a page, the book might be too challenging for independent reading. Encourage a mix of “just-right” books they can read on their own and “stretch” books you can read together. Celebrate progress—whether it’s a chapter finished or a new word learned—and remind them that the best readers are the ones who keep reading!
Here is an online K-5 Reading List (parents will need to vet the list).
MAP includes a Lexile Level - use the Lexile level to help find "just-right" books for your child(ren)
When: Tuesday, November 11th
Where: Outside on the Bus Loop
Time: 8:30 am - 9:30 am

The RSVP will close Wednesday, November 5th at noon.
We look forward to having you join us!
***Please note, this RSVP does not necessarily mean we will be able to pre-print a badge for you. If we are able to pre-print your badge, you will still need to show your ID in order to receive it. If we are unable to pre-print your badge, you will need to allow for additional time have your ID scanned at the front office to obtain a badge.***

OCTOBER NEWSLETTER
Our DSISD 18+ program has been hard at work preparing the stock of DSISD School Spirit Scribbler Pens — and they’re finally ready for you to purchase!
JROTC Student Led Military Club proudly partners with Toys for Tots and the Marine Corps to help raise toys and money for Austin children. We are grateful for the support of all the schools in DSISD and the many local businesses and neighborhoods who host boxes and promote this great cause.
Host locations will collect toys from Oct 1 - Nov 25 and then military club students will collect all the toys and organize them at the high school. The Marines will pick them up in the first week of December and distribute them to families in need throughout the month of December.
