Howdy, Tiger Families!
We had a great week of learning for both our students and staff! Our staff had a productive and energizing professional development day on Friday, filled with collaboration and planning to continue strengthening teaching and learning for our students. As we head into a well-earned three-day weekend, we hope our families enjoy the time to rest, recharge, and spend time together. Please remember there will be no school on Monday, 2/16/26, in observance of Presidents’ Day. Hope your weekend is filled with LOVE! Happy Valentine's Day!
Save-the-Date! Our Leadership Day is coming up on February 20th from 8am-10am. Join us to see Leader in Me in action at CSES! This year, we will be highlighting our Leadership Roles, our Student Lighthouse Team, and our HEART for Service. RSVP Here.
Please have your students wear Hearts! Pink! or Red!!!
Please note this is an opportunity to see what is happening throughout the campus; it is not an open house for your child's classroom. You may visit your child's class in the 30-minute come-and-go classroom visit time; however, we encourage those who attend to visit as many classrooms/grade levels as possible.

Spring is almost here, and our school garden is slowly coming back to life! We are excited to begin another season of planting, exploring, and learning with our students. To get our garden fully ready, we are in need of a little extra help. We are in need of bags of garden soil to refill our beds and give our spring plants the best chance to grow healthy and strong.
We’ve added soil to our Amazon Wishlist to make donating easy. Soil is our highest priority, BUT we would appreciate anything off of our Amazon wishlist!
Additionally, if you have any connections to local landscaping companies, nurseries, or garden centers that might be willing to donate soil, compost, or mulch, we’d love to hear about it!
Every donation helps our students learn, grow, and enjoy the experience of caring for a living garden. Thank you for supporting our school garden, we appreciate you! Any questions or concerns, please email amanda.mack@dsisdtx.us.
Friendship skills are learned, and home is a great place to practice them. Talk with your child about what it means to be a good friend—listening when others speak, taking turns, showing respect, and including others. You can role-play common situations, such as how to invite someone to join a game, how to handle disagreements, or what to do if feelings are hurt. Encourage your child to use kind words and think about how their actions affect others. These conversations help children build empathy, strengthen relationships, and feel more confident navigating friendships at school.

One of CSE's students, Eva-Rose, won a contest to have her dessert featured in Thyme & Dough's Bistro for Love dinner on February 19th. The bakery will also sell her dessert in the bakery for one month starting February 20th. The proceeds raised from the sale of her desserts specifically will be donated to a local nonprofit counseling center of her choice to support mental health in our direct community (with a special focus on kids and military).
Spread the word to go purchase Eva-Rose's Confetti Oreo chocolate chip cookies starting 2/20 (or her mom's Dubai chocolate cheesecake)!!
