Visual Art II
The Harlem Girl sculpture looks like a young black girl I'm assuming is from Harlem. This sculpture is made out of bronze. Some of the elements of art are sculpting and slip. The principals of art on this sculpture are humanization, representation, and activism. This piece exemplifies the height of her career in terms of both style and theme. I think this piece is good and highlights the struggles as a black artist.
Chemistry relates to paper-making in many ways with the pulp-process. This is when wood fibers are broken down into pulp using chemicals or water. Hand-made paper is an art form due to its texture and appearance, and process as art.
In class today we learned more about weaving. I created this heart shaped weaving basket for valentines day.
My partner and I used an ionic bond.My work combines weaving with bonding by using specific teqniqes goes forward and behind the main paper. This created a pattern effect which is my weave. Weaving teaches patience, focus, and the value process, as each thread must be carefully placed.
I combined STEAM in my project by puting science(my element), and art together. I learned how to draw better and i learned about my element. I was creative my doing atmospheric perspective to show my element in the founders hand. My artwork has atmospheric perspective, and rule of thirds in my artwork. Theres mountains in the back since my element is a rock. I think admespheric perspective was the most important becuase it really highlights my element and i like my artwork.
Elements of Art- Liwett created his art by giving a set rule of instructions for others to create the art. Today, we created our own art by making our own set of instructions and let our peers follow them and create a master piece.
7/29/24 But is it art?
In my opinion Art is a form of expression as well as skill. It can give you different feelings and emotions. It brings people together and lets people share their opinions. For example, history can reflect art because a painting can inform you about past experiences. This can also show different beliefs and peoples pasts hardships
AP Computer Science
In AP CS we learned about API and how to create a loop. We used "for i in range(_):" in order to make Karel do a command multiple times. Creating loops help us finish tasks quicker and easier. Instead of putting multiple lines of code down. You can put only a few in order to complete a task.
I taught ultra Karel how to create a checkerboard. I used many if loops and while loops to create this. I also used a new command to place paint in certain areas. ex paint(color["black"]) Doing this allowed me to create this checkerboard.
Me and my partner (Nia McKelvey) worked together to create a code. This is called pair programming. Pair programming is a software development when two programmers work together on a project. Me worked on a shared program together to create this flower.
We taught Karel how to climb using loops and defining commands. We used if loops so that Karel could climb up the maze. Using If loops make completing tasks very simple. An if loop depends on other things happening in your world.
In class we got put into 4 groups to do four different stations. The second group I was in was a group to create hot potato. I made a Python code in order to create a Hot Potato game I created.
In class, we learned about booleans and what they do. We took a quiz in class for understanding.
In class today we did another practice to further understand booleans and how they function. This practice was called "Do you have cat?". This helped me learn the function.
In class, after taking the quiz and doing the practice question. We had a chance to create our own boolean for better understanding. This practice was called the "first boolean".
Me and my partner created an event, loop, and learned how to imput a character into code in order to make him (Alonzo) move around the map.
I set a 30 minute timer to work on test corrections. I worked on trial and error to correct my mistakes from the past.
I took a quizziz in order to know what I know and what I dont know. This showed me what I had to work on and improve in the future/
In class we learned how to insert pictures with dialogue in order to "create a story". Here I brainstormed what I wanted to do for my story in detail.
After I brainstormed my ideas, I started to plan. Creating a plan helped me map out what I wanted to say and what pictures I wanted.
Next I had to write a pseudocode. to plan out programs at a high level, before writing actual code. That way, we can think about the problem and solve it without getting caught up in the specifics of coding.
This gimkit helped us with understanding and we wrote down answers we got wrong to study on our own.https://www.gimkit.com/practice/63c029e928189c0036079a1d
By completing this simulation, it helped us learn how to budget and bank right.
In my last station we focused on punnet square generator. I started taking notes on this subject as well.
2/13/25
Punnet Square Project
During this project we learned how to give coordinates, name the coordinates, and color the names and labels on the coordinates. We solved 6 courses, took notes on the videos, did quizzes to test our knowledge ect.
Intermediate Harp
10/7/24
Calypso with a C
I think this peice will sound very loud and up beat. I think there will be multiple harps doing different type of beats. I think the key will be middle C. I think itll sound like the intro to a disney movie. Very happy and pretty.
I belive i was correct. There were multiple harps and the sing was very upbeat. Everyonr played different parts. It sounded very light and didnt sound like it was in the key of middle C. I liked how they beat on the harp aswell as playing. It gave a very tropical vibe.
I think some challenges im goimg to face are doing pedal changes while playing. Another challange I think ill face is the change of beat or tempo. After getting my part I think this will be very hard.
1/8/24
Passing three stages concert music review
I think this piece is going to have 3 different tempos. I feel the beginning is going to start slower and throughout the song I think it will get faster. I think it will have many arpeggios as well and repeat multiple times. After watching the music video I think they preformed well. I think they were preforming at different tempos and the dancers did moments full out.
Some challenges I think im going to face while playing this piece is keeping the correct tempo becuase there are many arpegios and many notes. The main thing I think I will have to focus on is keeping a steady pace and not getting behind.
8/14/24
Pastorale
I believe the piece Pastorale is going to be a very fast steady tempo. The name Pastorale sounds like a orchestra piece. My guess is that there will be many parts in different keys. After hearing the piece Pastorale It sounded like a very steady and slow song. It sounds like a Asian piece. There were many arpeggios. It sounded very calming. It reminded me of a rainy day. It reminds me of nature, this is a very pretty piece. I believe the speed is going very challenging.
Danse Monnferine
This sounds like a french piece. I think its going to be a very fast tempo. I think this piece will be very challenging. I think it'll also be in a minor key. After watching the video it had nothing to do with the piece. It was very fast like I guessed. It seems very intense. As an onsoble I think this peice will be the most challenging?
Literature - 4A
9/6/24 -
In class today we continued our script, scene 2 was about Thutmose II's death and them established that Hatshepsut was going to rule as a pharaoh beside Thutmose III since he was too young when his father died. Scene 3 was about her life and achievements as a ruler until her death.
9/9/24 -
In class today we extended and completed our script. We also filled out the credits.
9/11/24 -
In class today we started to think about where we wanted to film. We also solidified each persons role since we had a character swap.
9/13/24
Today we did a table read with everyones script. I took the feedback the other groups gave and revised my script for my short film.
9/17/24
Today some actons from Dads Garage Acting Class came in to discus how to make our acting skills better. This was very fun and I learned new things.
Today me and my group worked together to complete our stations for today. This is our poster for PBL night.
9/23/24
Today we did not get to film since half of our group members weren't here. We planned to record next class day.
9/25/24
Today me and my group filmed both scene one and scene two. Unfortunately we had to film inside today instead of the track because it was raining outside but im glad we got a lot done.
9/30/24
Today me and my group filmed both scene 1 and 2. I edited both into our movie as well.
10/2/24
Today me and my group (without Brandon) finished our movie. We recorded the last scenes, and when I got home I edited them into our movie.
Chemistry - 3B
Cultural and historical contexts could've shaped the scientific discoveries in making a periodic table with the available known knowledge known, the climate, and the nature of matter. Something that also could've shaped new discoveries, were the fact that Dimitri Mendeleev categorized and organized the elements on the the periodic table. This could've given guidence on where to search in order to find new elements. Scientists could also make new discoveries by mixing things together to get new things. By doing this new elements could be discovered and put into the periodic table
Bubble Lab
The objective of this lab was to find which dish soap brand created the largest bubbles. We got 3 different types of soap and a straw. We then tested which brand created the biggest bubbles and logged it on our papers. It turns out Palm olive dish soap was the best to blow bubbles in.
Smores Lab
The objective of this lab was to use chemical and physical change and test which will happen when creating smores. We wrote down the ingredients in marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate, then we created smores to see what chemical and or physical change happened. My hypothesis was that the marshmallows and the chocolate will melt. (Which was correct) We then answered questions to see which ones were physical or chemical change.
History Of The Periodic Table
In this project we had to choose 5 founders of an elements and create posters of each of them. We then wrote about what each founder did and their achievements.
Element Art
In this project we were given an element and we had to incorporate the things we learned in art class in order to create a portrait.
Bohr Model
In this project we created atoms based on our elements and put the number of protons and electrons then placed cut up straws based on the amount of electrons.
CER
Cultural and historical contexts have shaped scientific discoveries in making the periodic table by altering the places they looked, the experiments they did, ect. All these aspects shaped the different discoveries made by scientists. the development of the periodic table was significantly influenced by cultural and historical contexts, as scientists' access to materials, prevailing scientific theories, and societal priorities at the time directly impacted the experiments they conducted, the elements they studied, and ultimately, the way they organized the periodic table, leading to different discoveries and interpretations across various historical periods.
1B Advanced Dance
4B Geometry
In geometry we are learning about cubism and drawing 3D figures to make it look like something. We used different 3 dimensional shapes to put together and form a picture. We based this off of Pablo Picasso's painting 'Guernica
