Ms. Young
As a 10th-grade student in Advanced Dance, my portfolio showcases the development of my technical skills, creativity, and performance quality throughout the year. It includes videos of class combinations, group routines, original choreography, and performance reflections that highlight my progress and dedication as a dancer.
This portfolio reflects my work across various styles such as contemporary, jazz, ballet, and hip hop. It also documents how I’ve grown in areas like musicality, body control, spatial awareness, and storytelling through movement. Each piece in the portfolio represents not only technique but also my ability to interpret music, express emotion, and work both independently and collaboratively.
Creating this portfolio helped me think critically about my strengths, identify areas for improvement, and celebrate how far I’ve come as a dancer this year.
Black History Month
For our Black History Month dance performance, we honored the legacy of Eva Davis, a powerful community leader who played a major role in the founding of Charles R. Drew Charter School. Through our performance, we celebrated her dedication to education, equity, and community empowerment. Eva Davis was a key figure in the revitalization of the East Lake community in Atlanta, and her efforts helped ensure that families had access to quality education and opportunities for a better future. Our dance told the story of her strength, vision, and lasting impact. We used movement, expression, and music to represent the struggles and victories that came with building something meaningful for future generations. This performance was a tribute to her inspiring leadership and the doors she opened for students like us.
