How does the government regulations change the marketing value of cars?

Also is it good to measure the the fuel economy for cars, does that change the peoples preferences for cars?

If a car is more fuel efficient then the market for that car will be better and the government will give them a tax brake but the companies that aren't as good they will get taxed more because it is harder for them to advertise fuel efficiency

10 - 15 years ago Hummers were the popular choice and the new cool thing in big cites. People didn't care about the fuel efficiency for cars and trucks. Fast forward to the present were everything is based off of how fuel efficient a car is, now everyone has a Toyota Prius because they are better for the economy and help the air pollution.

In conclusion you shouldn't cheat on trying to get ahead in the car industry because it is very hard and risky to do so. Like Volkswagen you can lose a lot of money and reputation around the world with everything including the price of the company.
