Below are some common questions relating to the College BYODD program
What is BYODD?
Mount Carmel Catholic College has adopted a 1:1 Bring Your Own Designated Device (BYODD) program, which means that as part of the enrolment requirements, students must bring a laptop to school that meets the specifications set out by the College. The specifications outlined by the College offers the flexibility to purchase an Apple laptop of choice that has the technical capability to work effectively and reliably as a tool for learning at the College.
Why BYODD?
BYODD offers a range of benefits to students, staff and the College as a whole. Below are some examples of this:
· The specifications set out in the BYODD program ensure devices have the capability, reliability and necessary performance to use the software and hardware based tools at the College
· Teaching staff are all equipped with the same technology, which means they understand how it works in order to develop and manage lessons with the use of technology effectively
· The I.C.L.T department is able to support students with a range of technical issues and render assistance with processing warranty and non-warranty repairs with an Apple Certified repairer (Educom IT)
What if my child already owns a laptop?
Only devices that meet or exceed the minimum requirements outlined here, can be used at school in order to ensure they are compatible with apps, peripherals and NAPLAN online testing software.
