Google Backup and Sync is recommended for school based files and folders. Personal video and photo content should not be included in your backup and sync settings.
1. Click here to download google backup and sync https://www.google.com/intl/en-GB_ALL/drive/download/backup-and-sync/
2. Once downloaded, double-click the InstallBackupAndSync.dmg file in your downloads folder
3. Move the Backup and Sync from Google app into the Applications folder as shown to complete the installation
4. Open your applications folder and double-click on the Backup and Sync from Google app
5. If a pop-up window appears asking if you are sure you want to open the application, select Open
6. A pop-up will appear for Backup and Sync, select Get Started
7. Sign in to your Google account as prompted by typing in your full College email address and selecting Next
8. If prompted, sign in to CENet using your CENet username and password.
Please note this username does not require your full email address.
9. Once the Google Account page appears, scroll to the bottom of the page and select Sign in with your browser instead
10. A new tab/window will open on your web browser requesting that you log on to your College gmail account, please select your College email account from the list or type the full email address if it is not listed and select Next
11. Select Allow to grant access to Backup & Sync from Google
12. Select Got It in the Welcome to Backup and Sync window
13. Ensure the folders you would like backed up onto Google Drive are selected. You are also able to choose specific folders. Once completed select Next.
Please ensure that you only select folders that contain content you need backed up. Remove any unnecessary files from these folders, particularly video files that are not required.
14. A second option will appear asking if you would like to sync your Google Drive to your computer, select Got It
15. Untick Sync my drive to this computer and select Start
Once the synchronisation process has been completed for the first time, you will be able to access your backup files via Google Drive under Computers.
