The VILS program has forged strong collaborations with the ELL program, ensuring that we provide comprehensive support to both students and their families. Our most impactful collaboration involves delivering all communications in Spanish to ensure equitable access to information. Moreover, we've equipped student devices with the capability to translate websites from English to Spanish, further enhancing accessibility and inclusivity.
At Mildred Osborne, our unwavering commitment to supporting our ELL (English Language Learner) families is a paramount priority. We recognize that effective communication is essential to fostering a thriving educational community, and as such, we have implemented a comprehensive approach to cater to the unique needs of our ELL families.
To ensure equitable access to information, we undertake the translation of all crucial documents, including flyers, handbooks, and pamphlets, into the native languages of our ELL families. This meticulous translation process is conducted in collaboration with our dedicated ELL teachers and our IT Manager, guaranteeing that the translated content is not only accurate but also concise, making it easier for families to comprehend.
Furthermore, the VILS coach maintains a consistent line of communication with our ELL teachers and IT Manager, ensuring that translations are up-to-date and aligned with the evolving needs of our ELL community. This collaborative effort reflects our school's steadfast commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where all families, regardless of their language proficiency, can access the information they need to actively engage in their children's education.
In our steadfast commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment, we have taken significant strides to ensure equitable access to content and online resources for all our ELL (English Language Learner) students. To this end, our dedicated VILS coach and IT Manager have collaboratively implemented a crucial enhancement - the integration of a Google Chrome extension that facilitates the translation of websites into Spanish.
This transformative extension serves as a powerful tool, enabling both our students and teachers to seamlessly integrate technology into their classrooms while ensuring accessibility for all students. Through this innovative approach, we not only bridge language barriers but also empower our ELL students to actively engage with and benefit from the wealth of digital educational resources available to them. This initiative exemplifies our unwavering commitment to promoting educational equity and providing every student with the tools they need to thrive in our diverse learning community.
To ensure accessibility and inclusivity for marginalized communities and diverse student populations, we have implemented several measures within our Digital Citizenship program. Specifically, for our English Language Learners (ELL), all lessons and exit tickets are thoughtfully provided in both English and Spanish, accommodating their language needs. Furthermore, our VILS coach collaborates with a bilingual Tech Manager to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of these lessons for all ELL students. In our ongoing commitment to support our students' families, handouts related to these lessons are also available in Spanish, fostering enhanced engagement and understanding among parents and guardians from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
