Companion Animal Science

Companion Animals is a course designed to emphasize the career areas of the care and characteristic knowledge of small animals and horses (examples of small animals - dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, chinchillas, amphibians, birds, fish and reptiles).  

Students will be provided with basic knowledge of small animals of all kinds and equine science (horses).  

This course works to build an understanding of the general functions of animal systems and their maintenance. Both of which are important to everyone to insure healthy pets and selection of products. Laboratory work includes animal care demos, microscope work, pest identification, blood & urine labs, disease/illness diagnoses, animal handling and observation.
