Crockett served in Congress, representing Tennessee in the US House of Representatives from 1827 to 1835. In 1835 he lost re-election.
He decided to leave Tennessee and moved to Texas.
Davy Crockett died fighting in Texas Revolution in 1836.
James K. Polk was born in North Carolina, he graduated from college at the University of North Carolina in 1818. After college, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he worked for the state government and practiced law. Later he moved to Columbia, TN, in Maury Co.
From 1825 to 1839 Polk served in the US House House of Representatives. Then in 1839 he returned to Nashville and became the Governor of Tennessee, until 1841. Then in 1844, Polk ran for President of the United States. He promised to only serve one year. He stopped being President in 1849 when he chose not to run for reelection and returned to his home in Columbia, Tennessee.
Polk got sick and died only a few months after returning to his home. He was eventually buried at the Tennessee State Capitol in Nashville, where he remains today.
