The Battle of Kings Mountain took place on the western side of the Appalachian Mountains in October of 1780. What made this battle different is that it was a battle between Patriots and Loyalists. While most battles had been between the Patriots and the British, this battle has often been described as "the war’s largest all-American fight".
The battle resulted in a decisive victory for the Patriots. Many of the Patriot soldiers who fought in the Battle of King's Mountain would go on to settle in Tennessee.
