GPEAK was developed by Illinois Central College, in partnership with Peoria’s CEO Council and Regional Workforce Development Alliance, the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council, the Illinois Community College Board, and NIU Outreach, Engagement, and Regional Development. Over 85 community members collaborated on this project to develop a regional approach for assessing and validating essential skills needed in the workplace.
GPEAK MEASURES an individual’s demonstration of essential skills needed for meaningful employment while encouraging learners to reflect on their growth and development.
The GPEAK Curricular Resources are organized by Competency under three main headings

We have transformed the curricular resources into bite-sized chunks for instructors to engage with at their discretion to support individuals to be college and career ready. These learning sections are designed to allow individuals to grow, develop, and nurture the 10 Essential Skills to become more well-rounded individuals who are college and career ready.
