This program explores the arts through hands-on activities in the Front Range. Students will learn hip-hop and Latin dance at Boulder Streetside Dance studio, try aerial arts at Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance, and see the award-winning play The Life of Pi in Denver. Workshops with local artists will include playwriting, improv, and taiko drumming. The experience provides an in-depth look into performing and visual arts careers.
Playwright Heather Beasley led a “play in a day” workshop in which students wrote, staged, and performed their own plays in small groups.
At Streetside Dance, we learned a hip-hop routine from teacher Rico Changeux, and in the afternoon we did an improv workshop with actor Rosey Waters.
This morning we flew through the air at Frequent Flyers Aerial Arts, then we traveled to Denver where we visited the Museum of Illusions and saw Life of Pi at the Denver Center for Performing Arts!
Yesterday we returned from Denver and we did a traditional Taiko drumming workshop with Julia Misawa from Boulder Taiko. Today, we did improv games, and then had our second hip hop class at Streetside Dance!
