Kindergarten-Fourth Grade students will participate in a four day exploration of “flight”. The activities will include hands-on experiments, presentations, and field trips to iFly Denver and the Wings Over the Rockies Museum. Each K-4 student has been placed on one of six "color teams" for Winterim week: Pink, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple. These mixed-grade groups help the kiddos make new friends while learning together in a fun and exciting way. Here's to an amazing week!
Day one of the Kindergarten-Fourth Grade Winterim was a huge success. Students participated in six flight themed hands-on activities. Some notable rotations included antacid rocket building, (plastic) egg drop, paper plane testing, and kite flying. It was a great start to our exploration of flight. Tomorrow all students will be heading off campus to field trips at iFly Denver or the Wings Over the Rockies museum.
On Tuesday and Wednesday of K-4 Winterim the students attended the Wings Over the Rockies Museum and iFly Denver. On both trips the kids had the opportunity to learn more about the forces that affect flight, and at iFly, they had the chance to put theory into practice. What an amazing two days for our young learners.
The final day of K-4 Winterim was amazing! We were lucky enough to have two fantastic presentations led by parents: Flying a Personal Plane by Anthony Pigliacampo and Helicopters by Matt Skidmore. In addition to that, Nature’s Educators brought four birds of prey native to Colorado to share with the students, and taught us all about their physiology, habitats, and how to conserve their species. What a great end to our exploration of flight. We hope your children had fun and learned a lot over the course of the week.
