Students have been learning about how to improve their thinking process. We have used the 9 self-monitoring questions during the beginning, middle, and end of an assignment (see the poster). Research has stated that students who ask these questions and learn to evaluate can make it a positive habit. I encourage parents to try this approach with your students at home with as you teach your kids. Have fun with this and I hope you have great discussions about thinking and learning.
Poetry is our next unit of study! This week students learned how to edit their poetry and wrote their first Bio poem! We are expanding our writing portfolio!
Your students are doing so well in their writing and we have a lot of fun too!
In this lesson, students come to understand that the setting Sun isn’t moving, the Earth is spinning. In the activity, Spinning Earth, students use their bodies as a kinesthetic model of the Earth to understand how the speed of the Earth’s spin affects the length of a day.
