Dear Parents and Students,
I hope this weekly update brings clarity and possibilities to your education at home. We are striving for more reading time at home this month. Students are interested in learning about new books to read, and perhaps a trip to the library or a search on the internet can provide new book options. In 4th Grade, we can really take off on a journey of reading and hope to continue to find the joy that comes from reading! Happy reading all!
We want to express our gratitude to Danielle Lillywhite and Erin Fonoti for making our Reader's Tasting Table interesting and exciting! Mrs. Lillywhite brought historical fiction to life and Mrs. Fonoti brought the intrigue of India to our classroom! The students are thoroughly enjoying exploring each new book our classmates read.
Your child has brought home a word search created by a classmate, featuring words from their friend's book. Have a great time searching for these words in the word search! Students can return the finished word search for a prize next week.
*In the event that your child missed class this week, kindly encourage them to craft a word search using 10 words from their own book. Please take a photo of it and send it to me via email.
Thank you!

*Please bring your new book & red calendar on your Davinci Day*
Please review this fun book called "Fireflies, by Julie Brinklow." It is a good example of what a personal narrative story looks like and sounds like. This is preparation to start writing personal narratives next week.
"Energy Transfer!"
Standard 4.2.1: Construct an explanation to describe the cause and effect relationship between the speed of an object and the energy of that object. Emphasize using qualitative descriptions of the relationship between speed and energy like fast, slow, strong, or weak. An example could include a ball that is kicked hard has more energy and travels a greater distance than a ball that is kicked softly. (PS3.A)
Objectives
The greater the speed at which one object strikes another, the greater the distance the stationary object moves. Kinetic energy is the energy an object has because of its motion.
Changing the speed of an object changes the amount of its energy. The more speed, the greater the energy in the object to be released. The slower the speed, the less energy there is to be released.
